  1. I've got a tiny HD on my Asus eee pc and I'm forever battling with programs to free up some space, I've been looking around and found some large folders but I'm not sure if I can delete these without fear of losing important data...

I've performed a disk clean up but I've still only got 230MB+ of free space, can anybody recommend what is ok to delete and what is not? INF files for example, are they ok to clear?

    Please help :o

Disable pagefiling or set it at 128-256 and delete/disable restore points.

    Turn off your PC's hibernation.

Uninstall unused or rarely used programs and use XPlite to trim down Windows

Process Security Manager is used to stop processes but not to delete or remove files. It's an entirely different thing.

  2. In Ayudhya once I encountered a huge centipede, about a foot long and brightly coloured in Red and Purple.

Nasty, aggressive bugger it was and it even raised itself up, hissing loudly and spitting what I presume to be venom.

I can never find a picture of it on the net....... anybody?

I have also noticed that Thai's in general don't know much about their poisonous/dangerous species which surprises me. Whilst in Isaan once with an ex, her family wondered as to why I banged my trainers on the floor before putting them on each time, I think that they caught on when a scorpion fell out once though.

    You mean THIS?

  3. I have seen some, a couple of years ago, in the Siam Discovery Centre specialist climbing and camping shop, 3rd floor?

Great! I will check it out.

    Thanks

    Hello everyone.

I would like to know if anyone has spotted Merrell shoes being sold anywhere in Bangkok.

I have bought a pair from back home and it seems to be the most comfortable and the most durable shoes I have ever had.

I 've been using mine for a couple of years now and it's starting look a little tired.

I really would hate to part with this comfty pair but it's really begging for a long well deserved rest.

I wonder if Merrel is sold in Bangkok. If it is, I would appreciate it if anyone here could point me to the right direction.

    Thanks.

  6. Can someone recommend a good free data recovery software. Sometimes a file gets deleted for various reasons and I would like to be able to recover it.

I use GetDataBack and Recover My Files. As you may know, it is best to have whatever recovery application (you decide to use) installed PRIOR to having to actually using it since installing any software on a drive that contains your deleted / missing data could result in unrecoverable files.

This is the best software out there. Great recommendation too. Try installing it into your flash drive using a DIFFERENT computer. I use mine from my flash drive.

  7. An update - after a recommendation I've used www.weebly.com and they are excellent. Very user-friendly and well designed site with no ads. Highly recommended for anyone who needs webspace.

    Cheers, Jack

    Weebly is great!

    Thanks for the recommendation.

One question though, is there a limit to the amunt of stuff I could post there?

  8. Have had that before. Quite nasty indeed. The .vbs files hides itself in c:\windows\system32 and runs itself automatically when you boot your machine. It adds an autorun.inf file into each drive. Right click then Explore might be the only way to get into drives. It may even disable both the Folder options and the Task Manager.

I got that out with Dr.Web's CureIt (courtesy of Reimar) which can downloaded for free at http://freedrweb.com/

Avira Antivir does a good job of detecting and handling vbs files in flash drives.

    Hope this helps

  9. Could you PM me your email address so I could check your problem? :o

Kidding aside, it could be your browser automatically remembering the password that you have entered sometime ago when logging in to your account.
