  1. ok sorry about the flames and rants thingy but peaceblondie explain it to me right where i need it thanks guys^^

(the forum i came from was a final fantasy 11 online game forum and I had to deal with little punks all the time and all ages coming from everywhere lol kinda left that scene was to immature for me)I'm glad you guys are making me proper though:)

    peace, man!

    apology accepted.

teacher's salary starts at 30k. it varies depending on your qualification (that's how urgent the need for a teacher is) and the school's ability (willingness) to pay and it's location (could be BKK, or any far flung laid back city).

  2. But none-the-less please give me some thoughts here flames and rants welcome.

    No they are not.

Vent out all your flames and rants in another forum.

Don't do it here. And besides, some hardworking Filipinos have already experienced

so much prejudice in the hands of Thais and some native speakers because

they just happened to have the wrong skin color.

    Sad world.

    Peace.

  3. looks from the pictures that all forensic evidence was just sweeped away and removed - and I think it was disposed rather than moved to the laboratory. That way we might never know the truth about the bombings.

The correct procedure would be to cordon off the immediate area of explosion and allow experts to gather the evidence - the whole process taking days or even weeks.

swept clean indeed. was that done on purpose or they just didn't know how much they could find out from all that stuff?

  4. Saying that, just want to add, that the way food cooked, dispite MSG and tons of chilli, that the word "hygeine" odesn't exist in local vocab. For every dish served here I prefer nothing.

I was just curious, I've seen the word "hygienic" used on various vegetables at my local supermarket (Foodland).

In particular, they have "hygienic tomatoes" and "hygienic cucumbers" and in fact I just use some this evening in my salad. They cost more than twice that of "normal" ones but look identical and don't seem to taste any different either.

Does anyone have any idea what they mean by "hygienic"?

PS. Did anyone ever see the 9,999 baht per kilo frozen Japanese tenderloin beef they had there last month?....maybe it's still there.

they use the word "hygienic" for plants that are grow in a hydroponic (grown without soil - the roots are immersed in nutrient rich water) environment.

its cleaner than vegetables grown in soil and fertilized chicken manure.

  5. There are basically a few things that you need to have running in your computer.

    1. A good anti-virus software. Something that is not as bulky and annoying as Norton

AVG Free and NOD32 offers good protection without cluttering up your system.

    2. You also need to have a realtime spyware and malware protection.

AVG anti-spyware is one of the latest and definitely the hardest working.

AdAware SE and Spybot are must-haves.

    3. Consider using Advanced WindowsCare v.2. (http://www.iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCarePersonal/)

it could boost your PC's performance by 30% or more

    4. Finally, consider using Firefox v.2. This browser offers stronger protection.

The add-on NoScript also blocks out all unnecessary and potentially dangerous scripts

from running while you browse loaded sites.

  6. Four bombs hit Thailand's capital

BANGKOK: At least 12 people were injured in Bangkok on Sunday night after four bombs exploded in the Thai capital as revellers were preparing to bring in the New Year, a senior police spokesman said.

The four explosions are thought to have happened within 90 minutes of each other across Thailand's capital, beginning at 5:30 pm (1030 GMT) at central Bangkok's Victory Monument.

"I have received reports of bombs at Victory Monument which injured four people. The second site was at Klong Toey which injured six people, two of them children," Ajiravid Subarnbhesaj, national police spokesman, said on Thai television. Klong Toey is a market in downtown Bangkok.

The third bomb was planted at a police traffic post at an intersection in the north of the city injuring two, he said, while the fourth was also at a police post in the northern suburb of Nonthaburi. No one was injured there.

It was not immediately clear if the bombs had anything to do with a military coup on September 19 that ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra, or with an ongoing violent separatist insurgency in the kingdom's south.

AS of the moment, two are already reported dead.

Everyone is advised to take all necessary precautions.

Have a safe New Year everyone.

  7. My ADSL line here in Saraburi is working fine. It's a tad slower than usual but still good enough. I got it back after a day. When I found out I couldn't connect to any site outside LoS, I had a bad case of CLAUSTROPHOBIA. I felt like I was suddenly stuck in the middle of nowhere. Is there anyone else out there who felt that way?

  8. It's a good thing that you have a BA in English. That would be an advantage. Feel free to browse the job postings at http://www.teflasia.com/ajarn/browse_jobs/index.html. That will give you an idea on how much you can get from here.

There's one important thing that you didn't mention in your posting. Native speakers a.k.a. farangs get a much higher salary than non-native speakers. There are other issues like getting a visa and securing a work permit.

The school year here starts on the first week of May, you should fly in earlier to get the best offers in good schools. Chiang Mai is saturated with foreigners who are after jobs that you want.

    Happy job hunting!

  9. Chiang Mai warned more quakes could follow

CHIANG MAI: -- Chiang Mai could be hit by more earthquakes following the moderate shake early yesterday, the Meteorological Department has warned.

now that's something to worry about...

Meteorolgy is the science of weather phenomenon...

the guys there ate the Meteorological Department should start sticking to weather and let the seismology guys handle this... :o

  10. The worst thing I have eaten was in Cambo a few years ago.

Fertilised duck egg. Just crack the top open as with a normal hard boiled egg but inside is a soft little duckling with feathers, beak etc.

Had a taste and couldn't eat any more...

    :o

My gf comes back from the Philippines Saturday and has promised to bring me the same thing but I think she said they were chickens eggs. I kinda hope she forgets.

Anyway in an Indonesian restaurant I had cow brains curry. I thought it would come all chopped up with bits of veggies etc. Wrong! Half a cow brain in a bowl with curry sauce, yum yum. Can't remember if it was right or left hemisphere so I don't know if I'll go mad logically or artistically.

I've had the maeng da, locusts, ant pupae etc etc mostly when p1ssed all of which I've tried again when sober but it takes maeng da to really get the retch muscles in tone. The locusts are quite good, a bit like light grade pork scratchings but you need to wash them down with a beer to clear all the casings, legs and feet out from between your teeth.

Cobra curry, illegal I know but I didn't know what it was 'till after, was OK but could have been anything with the sauce. Main trouble was the myriad of little bones.

Sea cucumber, or sea slug if you are in mixed company :D , was another thing like jellyfish that tasted of nothing but the chilly dip.

fertilized duck eggs... it's called Balut

only the shell is left uneaten

eater downs the beak, feathers, and whachamacallit in there :D

  11. There's no roller coaster here to give the adrenalin rush that I need

and I can't seem to find a suitable place where I could do bunjee jumping

so I decided to get myself a motorbike and drive myself around town.

I've got several questions to ask you my fellow posters.

Is possible for me, a foreigner, to get a motorbike registered to my name? :o

Are there any legal loopholes that I don't know about?

What brand and model of motorbike would you recommend?

I'm just after the common models available.

Can't get one that has an airbag here...

  12. You must be trading on a differnt market because I see it today still at 35.61 to the dollar.

By the way it isn't the baht strenghtening it's the dollar weakening.Watch the rate baht/euro,no major changes in the pst month or so.On the contrary the baht weakened little against the euro.

Baht / USD exchange rate as of today, 6th is 35.91 per visa, so if you take money out of a PLUS/Visa system ATM that is the rate that you should get. Unfortunately, I've gotten different rates at times from Visa than their published rates when they withdraw it from my bank.

How do you know the exchange rate straith away when you withdraw from an atm?I will always have to wait for my monthly statement to know the exchange rate.

you could walk into the bank and ask

    or just check it online

    http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?...;submit=Convert

    its updated regularly.

just a minute ago, it was 35.660 baht to the dollar.
