I understand going to the police. Perhaps his insurance will cover the theft of the bike. Maybe.

But, going to the media? Why humiliate yourself in front of the nation? Good judgment seems to be lacking these days.

    What can one say?

Its all over media in Thailand, so hir gf will have to return the property she took, cause everyone in her village will point a finger on her. And every corrupt cop in the province will look for her. Just think about it.

Hi all. I was able to successfully transfer my fund to IBKR, thanks to your help.

I used UOB, and the transfer fee was about THB600. I used the beneficiary information solely from what was given in IBKR's deposit notification/instruction. I used the UOB's internet banking, registered the overseas beneficiary (i.e. IBKR), and transfer it out of my saving account. There was no need to provide any document to register or transfer the money to IBKR (probably because my transfer amount was below the reporting requirement threshold stipulated by Bank of Thailand..?) and the money went through in 3 hours.

Thank you all for your kind insights!

How did you register for international transfers on UOB? Do you have work permit and did they ask for it?

Don't add THB - just take the bank details of e.g. your EUR, GBP or USD borderless account and transfer there with a normal international bank transfer using the K-bank app. Pretty cheap fee and good exchange rate.

You can, see above. Hoewever, it's correct that you cannot use the transferwise service itself to transfer funds out of Thailand. But you can still send money into your borderless account using a normal bank transfer from a Thai bank. When doing it that way, it's basically just a regular intl. bank transfer.

Have you ever sent USD from Thai bank account to TW? They website clearly stating they wont accept USD transfers from Thailand.

The under consideration stamp allows you to stay until your extension is approved.

It seems they started the 30 day report back date from the day your current permit to stay ends. Many offices do it that way.

Thank you for your answer,so I dont need to worry about expiry? I just never seen that as permit to stay and dont understand their logic.

  5. I was extending my stay on marriage visa last 3 years, always coming 30-40 days before my permit expire, and getting new permit on the expiry day. Today I submitted my documents in Phuket for another extension, but was told to contact the office after 60 days. I pointed out that my visa will expire after 30 days, but was told " Its ok" and I "Talk too much". Does this stamp of "Application of stay under consideration" extending my original visa? I'm confused, please help  me to understand.

You can only do your report in Bangkok if that is where you got your extension. To do it at another office you would have to formally change your address to where you wanted to do it.

You can also do your 90 day at the offices at Imperial World Ladprao or Big C Ratburana Rd. They open at 10:30 am.

Thank you for your reply. What documents if any I need to bring with me?

You will be extending the 90 day entry from your non-o visa. A visa cannot be extended.

    1. You will complete a TM7 form and attach a 4 X 6 cm photo to it. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/tm7.pdf

    2. No other photos will be needed.

Do one need more than 30 days on your previous visa left when applying for the one year extension based on marriage ? They told me to come on 20 November that is Sunday, my visa valid to 20 December. Will it be ok to go on 21'st November?

  8. I've got one more question, i will need to provide information on my residence to the immigration, for the extension, visa conversion and one year extension as well. I'm moving into condo unit in few days time, that the owner is not Thai, but Chinese. What documents will i need to produce for immigration except the lease agreement? I heard about some kind of registration by owners of the condo for foreigners that staying in the unit. I want to know now, cause the landlord will depart after and will not be available. Thanks

Thank you, how about the 30 days stamp question? Can I extend based on marriage if less than 15 days left from the entry stamp, and if not can I extend after getting "tourist" extension of additional 30 days?

You cannot apply for a one year extension with a visa exempt entry. You can only apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa entry based upon qualifying (same documents required as an extension application) for an extension based upon marriage at Bangkok immigration. This requires at least 15 days remaining on your entry. Then during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry you could apply for the one year extension.

You could apply for the visa entry the same day you apply for a 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry or up to the last 15 days of it.

You could also apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife it you needed more time to get ready for the visa application.

Thank you very much, I guess I will go to immigration and see what extension option is the easier right now.

If you apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife she will need to go with you.

Noted, will go immigration next week and update here.

  11. Few questions if I may:

What is Kor Ror 2 exactly? I was under impression marriage certificate is enough for that purpose? If not, can I get Kor Ror from any amphor, or only from the one that marriage registered?

The pictures need to be printed like a real pictures from Photo shop, or just on A4 paper?

I'm on 30 days exempt stamp that has 10 days left, from what I read before you need at least 15 days left to make extension based on marriage? Can I make this extension after "normal" tourist extension of 30 more days ?

It's a supplementary document to the actual marriage certificate with details of the registry. You can get one from any Amphoe.

Yes you should get the pictures printed.

You can extend a 30 day visa exempt entry by another 30 days.

Most immigration offices will accept the photos printed on A4 size paper.

I have never used anything other than photos done that way to get my extensions. My office is happy with a total of 4 photos printed with two 5 X 7 inch photos per sheet. I have used plain paper before but have been using photo paper for the last few extensions.

Thank you, how about the 30 days stamp question? Can I extend based on marriage if less than 15 days left from the entry stamp, and if not can I extend after getting "tourist" extension of additional 30 days?

  12. Hey guys, thanks for all the help! I've got my income affidavit from the embassy, and now I have another question - quite simply, what else should I expect to have to present at Chaengwattana immigration? Every source I check seems to have a slightly different list. The ones that stand out as the most confusing are as follows:

    - Marriage certificate - will the certificate we got from the Thai embassy in New York be enough? Or, do we need something else?

    - Map to our residence in Thailand. Necessary in Bangkok? Or, is this just something we need if we're living in the provinces? Also, does it really need to be hand-drawn, or will a simple google maps print-out suffice?

    - Photos of my wife and I. This one is really odd - do the pictures need to be taken at our apartment? Some sources seem to think so. Also, is this a provinces-only requirement, or will they want it in Bangkok, too?

    - Will there be a problem that my wife's tabien baan is for her hometown, but my registered residence (and she lives here too) is in Bangkok?

    and finally,

    - Should we expect to be interviewed / interrogated?

Have you registered you marriage at an Amphoe? You will need the Kor Ror 22 issued for a foreign marriage to apply for the extension.

If you registered your marriage at the consulate in NY it should be easy to register your marriage at a Amphoe. Check with you local Khet since you appear to be in Bangkok.

The following is a general list of the required documents and etc. need to apply for the extension.

Unless you are applying at Bangkok you will need 2 sets of copies attached to 2 TM7 application.forms.

Proof of 400k baht in the bank for 2 months by way of a letter from your bank and your bank book.or 40k baht income.proven by a income letter from your embassy.

Copies of your passport photo page and every page that has any stamp or visa for Thailand on it. Copy of TM6 departure card.

Marriage certificate and a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry (Kor Ror 22 for foreign marriages)

Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

Photos of you and your wife in and around the house. One must show you both with the house number shown in it. The number of photos needed varies by office.

Map to your residence from the nearest main road or street.

Proof of residence if not living where your wife's house book is for.

Some offices may want witnesses when you apply. (not needed in Bangkok)

  13. Are you the legal father of the child as recognized in Thai law, or just your name stated on the birth certificate?

I got in Bangkok extension of stay for 1 year with multiple re-entry. Second time now.
    Required were:
    Birth certificate
    Mothers ID
    Tambien Ban
    Passport copies
    Letter from Bank proving funds
    6 pictures with the Kids

Requirements may vary on immigration officers discretion......

  14. Just got a report from Vientiane. The guy is working in Laos, got all the documents from work, money in the bank etc(200K baht) . They turned him down anyway, first they asked more "copies" of the documents for the Laos company, when he could provide them, they said that the money should be in Laos bank only..;) So the conclusion is: they just instructed not to issue that kind of visa, finding any excuse possible.
