  1. Hi all

Last year I bought a 2nd hand MiMax 1 from a friend, and was so impressed that I gave it to my son ( who still uses it ) and bought the Max 2, which I still like very much.

The Mi Max 3 will undoubtedly will be released soon, and I will most certainly check it out, and probably buy it... i love big phones and the Max 3 ticks all the boxes..

  2. I have used a Xiaomi Mi Max 2 for the last 6 months or so. still sold for 9490 bahts , price should drop a bit with the announced arrival of the Max 3 in a few weeks.

With its 6.44 inches display, it is not for everyone, for sure ( I like big phones, I used to have the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, another great phone )

I love this phone ( and I have had many ... ), it covers all my needs, not a beast processor wise but decent camera, very big battery ( 2 days easy ), quick charge, 4/64 gB , MIUI os ( updates are done quite often ), IR shooter, nice display.

I am waiting the Max 3, because it will be even bigger ( 7 inches..)

  3. I have been using a Xiaomi Mi Max 2 for the last few months ( in replacement of a Samsung A9Pro), if you want something with a big screen ( 6.44 inches), giant battery ( 5300 maH !!! ), this is a phone to consider, I paid 9490 bahts ( 4Gb/64 Gb version ), and this is still the price it is being sold here ( Chiang Mai ).

Not a beasty processor, but I do not play much. Decent camera that mostly suits my needs. I like this phone very much, and I am waiting for the Mi Max 3 for an even bigger screen ( 7 inches announced, probably in June )

    Thanks for your input.

I had seen this video and have indeed opened my Acer a while ago to clean it, not easy, but doable.

I have asked Acer support why all my attempts to install Win10 were not working, and their answer was that this model was not supported, without any real additional explanations. I have made maybe 20 attempts to no avail, the install starts and after a while, it get stuck and the machine reverts itself to the former configuration, ie Win 8.1.

As for the drivers, I had also found this Acer support page, and downloaded some drivers, but I don't have a clue on how to install them.

I guess this machine will be going soon to a computer repair shop .. I'll see with them if Win 10 can indeed be installed.

  5. Thanks for all your inputs.

I found an original Win7 installation CD, so I went that way and reinstalled Win 7, but ( so far, I'm not finished ..), drivers are missing and keyboard and mouse are not seen, fortunately the PC has a touch screen so I have been able to input commands. I've been updating most of the day, updates after updates, each time the PC restarts, some more updates are found..

    I'll continue tomorrow morning.

  6. Well, it did not work, the extracted key is apparently only valid to make upgrades on Win 8.1.

I have found the original Win 7 code on a sticker on the back of the PC, but I can't find a way to re install it...

    Thanks again anyway.

  7. Hi all

I have an all in one computer ACER Aspire Z5771, which I purchased 4 or 5 years ago with Win 7, then updated it to Win 8 and Win 8.1 "officially". This model cannot be updated to Win 10.

I now want to sell it, and am trying to reset it, but everything I have tried is not working.

I cannot find the activation key for my Win 8.1 installation, I remember doing it online, but that's a while ago.

Does anyone has a clue ?

    Thanks, good day to all.

I had constant problems with 3BB going down where I live on 121 just south of San Sai.  Switched to AIS fiber optic 2 months ago.  Not a single problem since then.

Same here in Sanpuloei, 3BB would be OK for some time, then slow, then sluggish, then back to normal and so on... Switched to AIS Fiber out of frustration, and so far so good.

  10. We have 2 of them, both purchased at Siam TV.

1st is an Hitachi ( combo + steam ), purchased a few years ago for about 16000 bahts, but has had to be repaired once, hence the purchase of the 2nd, a Samsung, a bit cheaper, I think it was around 10 to 12000 bahts.

Sorry, not currently at home, so cannot give the references.

    Online still works fine

Site was hacked once awhile back is fine now

    https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm

I just tried to report online, and it does not work, when submitting the form, a pop up opens asking to contact Immigration. I have tried 3 or 4 times.

I have done it several times over the last year, it has always worked fine. Every time, there was a warning of a dangerous site, which I acknowledged and proceeded without troubles. Note that Chrome is not working, I always use iE.

Has anyone succeeded to do it recently ?

    Thanks

  12. Interesting thread. I am also on 3BB, for a few days I have been experiencing drop outs, 10 to 20 times a day, lasting from a minute to half an hour.

The techs came, and made a few tests, and pointed my router ( Cisco WAG 120N ), saying the readings were OK with their, but that mine had issues with SNR value.

I fiddled with my router, installing the latest firmware, the result is that I cannot access it any more crying.gif , and cannot roll back to the previous firmware. It is 5 years old, but wifi coverage was much better than my former Belkin and covering the whole house.

So I guess I am on the market for a new router, if anyone has recommendations, they are welcome. The 3BB people vouched for TP Link, but I am open to suggestions.. Thanks.

  13. Amazon won't sell Kindle direct to Thailand. Best to go via Ebay with a seller who has sold several thousand brand new ones to Thailand.

    Not true

100% true. Amazon do not sell Kindle direct to Thailand any more. They did for a bit, then they stopped. Which is why there's a thriving market for new ones from Ebay.

Also for those who travel in the region - there is a shop in Phnom Penh that sells them plus what may be the ugliest cases in history. They are brand new and boxed with original factory seals.

Well, I just received a new Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon, it took 6 days to arrive by UPS. It was a ( totally free ) replacement for a similar Kindle that went bad. They even waived the shipping cost, the online support was very good.

  14. Hi all

I was planning to go to Promenada immigration office, but I just tried my 90 days notification online ( Windows 8 / IE )

Within a few minutes, I received an email telling me it was approved... I also printed it easily from Chrome, together with the receipt of notification giving me the next date.

Is that it ? I can't believe it is that simple...

  15. I have a NEW Paper White in the original unopened from Amazon brought to me last week. I am selling it for 5000 baht if anyone if interested.

I bought mine from this poster and I would definitely recommend it.

+1.Bought one from Richard as well, very good price ( reader+case+film), very satisfied.
