PR holders can use the auto-gates (3 or 4 lanes) on departure, but I have never tried since they came into operation a few months ago, as I never travel Economy, don't want to queue and have 2 passports. Pre COVID I used the auto-gates all the time for several years.
Where did you get this information from? -

Just my opinion, but given the fact that most Thais pair-up at high school or uni, plus the fact that Thai women generally like to stick to Thai men, the ones that end up with foreign guys aren't going to be ones that would want to go with Thai men in the first place. Even if they aren't prostitutes/divorced/single mothers, they're still the type to not want a Thai guy, due to not likening the way women are treated in relationships with Thai men, or some similar reason.
I just can't imagine, currently, educated and well off Thai men, who would be looking to pair-up with educated Thai women with good economic prospects, being in any position to be adopting a "bloody foreigners, coming over here, taking our women" kind of viewpoint.
Absolute rubbish. Learn to speak Thai like a Thai, and you will see new doors open. Most of the time its just a language barrier.

I am looking to travel out of the country soon and have several months remaining on my current endorsement. However I would like to maximize the amount of time I can remain out of the country. Is it possible to reapply a fresh endorsement to allow travel outside for a full year? Or would I have to wait until those remaining months expire first? Thanks.
Can get new Re-entry whenever you want to.

Hello
I have a two unconnected questions for the PR experts on this thread which I'd appreciate some advice about:
1. Identification number
I have had a yellow book & pink ID prior to achieving PR for a couple of years now with a "6-xxx" number. When I move to a blue book following PR approval will I keep this ID number or will they issue a new one starting "8-xxx"? My current number is shown on my son's birth certificate and various other documents. I am fearful this will be an issue if I suddenly change numbers. Does anyone know how to deal with this?
2. Future work permits:
Can anyone shed any light on how having permanent residency affects the process of getting a work permit?
I have heard that it is "easier" for permanent residents but I have no idea what that means.
I also hear reports from some that the requirement for having 4 Thai members of staff per foreigner is removed for PR holders, so in theory a PR holder could get a work permit as a sole employee of a company. Has anyone any experience of this? Clear information on the subject is hard to come by
Many thanks!
1. You need to get updated documents with the new ID-number. I had to update in tax records etc. I have no idea about birth certificates, but why would it matter?
2. Its definitely easier. Wen renewing WP, they don't check Thai staff at all.

Just take your red book and some photos of your face. That is all I have ever needed. What do you mean by passing the 5 years as a PR a few weeks ago? If you are past the due date you could be in trouble.
23rd of January was the last stamp. What can of trouble are we talking about. A fine?

Hi guys. I just realized I have passed 5 years as a PR a few weeks ago. Whats the current requirements and paperwork to re-register with the police station in my area?

I am a bit suspicious here because of the domain mywallet.co. How can this be an offical Thai government website?
They ask for ID number and phone number. What does the SocSec office have to do with my phone number? Looks more like a phishing site to me.
Just go to the landingpage: https://www.mywallet.co/landingpage

Hopefully as this rolls out this will encourage people to get vaccinated.
It may not be perfect. This nudge is needed for people who for some reason or conspiracy theory are not inclined to be vaccinated.
Now all Thailand needs is quality vaccines. Sinovac is a major stumbling block as many Thais don't trusted it.
For good reason.
Yea, look at Israel, the most va*xed country in the world, currently on their 3rd and 4th shot

Yes I did all the documents myself should be relatively easy if you've gone through the permanent resident process as the documentation used is very similar.
My only hiccup was the renunciation letter from the US consulate when I contacted them they said they wouldn't do them but when I went there in person it was absolutely no problem.
The covid situation has definitely affected things I was actually supposed to Lodge my application 2 months before. I had to wait for things to settled down here in Chiang Mai as we were the epicenter for a while. And the NIA officer informed me that for the last year and a half they haven't done any interviews at all because they need to interview people in person and the covid situation didn't allow that. She informed me that because of the increased cases recently she might have to stop interviewing depending on directives from the higher-ups.
My plan is to keep my current citizenship, as Norway accept dual now. Did the ask you to renounce your US one?? -

I was also on the same batch of PR approvals as thaijames so more than 5 years now on PR already. But currently I am out of country and will apply for citizenship once I arrive back in Thailand. Probably early next year. I am also not married to a thai so will be applying solely on basis of 5 years PR
Thats my plan as well. No marriage in sight????

Submitted my application about one month ago in Chiang Mai everything is going smoothly and pretty fast.
Had my Nia interview yesterday no problems and I have another local police (santibaan) interview tomorrow. I don't expect any problems.
According to my SB officer he might be able to send everything to the ministry of interior within a few months as the NIA was the main hurdle in the past.
Nice!
Did you do the documents process yourselves?
So there are no extra obstacles because of the current 'situation' ? -
Has anyone started their citizen application this year? Do they accept applications now? I'm coming up to 5 years soon, and plan to apply.

At, say, 38 deaths a day from Covid, we may be on for 13k or so in a year. The issue is that the rate of 38 deaths a day, is after pretty severe restrictions have been put in place. Lift those restrictions and the commonly held opinion is that Covid cases would rise and from that, Covid deaths also.
on the other hand, the normal flu and pneumonia deaths will remain more or less constant.
it’s the same dynamics as when the number of road deaths is floated.
but the statistic you quote is a very interesting one. Wouldn’t have guessed it in a million years. Thanks for highlighting it.
The question is, do the restrictions do anything for infections? Infections happen at home or at the workplace. Masks and social distancing doesn't work for an airborne virus. There is absolutely no correlation. People walking around in nature with masks on. Makes absolutely no sense at all.
The virus kills one in 50,000 people under 50. Vaccinate the vulnerable, and let us get on with our lives.- 3

The BMW and MB cars are to expensive for my taste and after this I only know of the MG plug-in which i don't really trust quality wise.
MG now sells PHEV and pure electric cars in big numbers all over the world, so I wouldn't be too worried.
I think they look quite good, and the interior is on par or better than Honda. Warranty for 4 years, with free roadside assistance etc.- 3

I got my 330e last August. So far have just driven to work and around BKK, so my daily usage is about 50km. I had the wall charger BMW provided installed at my condo and use that every night. I usually leave it plugged in overnight, was not aware of the less than 100% charge issue, but I'll check with the dealer. I have just over 7,000 km on the car and tanked up for just the third time yesterday. Electricity cost per month around 1,000-1,200 Baht per month. I finally got Carplay set up this weekend and it works fine. There had been an issue with the emergency call not working, but that was due to a software update which was just finished and I understand it affected many cars. The acceleration and performance are excellent, I've had the 320i previously and this 330e is about the best car I've ever driven.
Use precondition and setup charge schedule, so your battery is full just before departure. That way battery degradation is minimal.

Is the battery pack still located in the spare tyre compartment of the trunk in ur BMW?
Then you have the more expensive run-flat-tyres, that can't be replaced at any corner shop.
You can reply with any tires you want. I always go for normal tires, and keep a emergency repair kit in my car.
Batteries are underneath rear seats and trunk. Makes the trunk a bit smaller, but enough for me. Besides can fold the rear seats.

A lot of people can't afford being locked up for 2+ weeks, they have family to care for, pets, income that depends on them being at home at least.
The current system actually encourages people to not report anything and try to hide it as much as they can. I'm completely against keeping these asymptomatic people locked up, they should be just ordered to stay home with a heavy fine if caught outside.
Why anyone would lock up people who aren't sick in the first place is totally crazy. Asymptomatic spread is a myth!

So why are people so reluctant to disclose information regarding
if they have been at risk of catching the virus? Afraid of being locked up in a hospital for an uncertain period of time? Perhaps they should consider letting asymptomatic cases or patients with mild symptom isolate at home, and leave room for those who are more seriously ill.
Especially those 90% with no symptoms...

Yet your own Thai Citizens keep sneaking in because they do not like your quarantine and other measures Sir. How many of those from India will eventually filter through and bring that variant in with them. You should be more worried about getting vaccinations moving.
Again sir how many of your own people have you nabbed?, silence on that subject except for an article yesterday about 5 that had been apprehended and tested positive for Covid.
Since 99,995 of us are totally fine even if we get the virus, they should worry more about speeding and drunk driving - that actually kills people.

I've been using C70 for years (30% tint, brightest one). Very happy with it, but another good alternative is C50 all around, and C70 for the windshield. I find the windshield most important during night driving. C90 I haven't seen available in Thailand

The issue is the percentage of people running around without masks in Bangkok after 9pm who think they are immune to the virus or much stronger than it. The number of such individuals exponentially increases at certain places after this time. This seems to be especially true for alcohol serving spots, that attract this subset of people like a honey pot attracts flies....
Running around with masks outdoor is of course complete <deleted>. Most infection would happen indoor, like on the BTS or in a private home. Inside the BTS, a mask could potentially stop some droplets from the person coughing next to you, but all of those people are actually breathing, and the "dangerous" aerosols full of corona virus is shared between all passengers. Masks are a false sense of security. Scared? Stay home. Let the rest of us get back to our lives, without masks.- 3
