On 2 occasions after using TG Fast Track I walked to the main Immigration Counter after departure Immigration directly opposite the auto-gates and asked an Immigration Officer. Both Officers stated that PR holders can use auto-gates, but as I stated I have not done so to confirm.

I used the auto-gates pre covid. I will travel again on the 9th of May. I will go ask at the counter to see if its possible again.

Just my opinion, but given the fact that most Thais pair-up at high school or uni, plus the fact that Thai women generally like to stick to Thai men, the ones that end up with foreign guys aren't going to be ones that would want to go with Thai men in the first place.  Even if they aren't prostitutes/divorced/single mothers, they're still the type to not want a Thai guy, due to not likening the way women are treated in relationships with Thai men, or some similar reason.

I just can't imagine, currently, educated and well off Thai men, who would be looking to pair-up with educated Thai women with good economic prospects, being in any position to be adopting a "bloody foreigners, coming over here, taking our women" kind of viewpoint.

Absolute rubbish. Learn to speak Thai like a Thai, and you will see new doors open. Most of the time its just a language barrier.

I am looking to travel out of the country soon and have several months remaining on my current endorsement. However I would like to maximize the amount of time I can remain out of the country. Is it possible to reapply a fresh endorsement to allow travel outside for a full year? Or would I have to wait until those remaining months expire first? Thanks.

Can get new Re-entry whenever you want to.

    Hello

I have a two unconnected questions for the PR experts on this thread which I'd appreciate some advice about:

    1. Identification number

I have had a yellow book & pink ID prior to achieving PR for a couple of years now with a "6-xxx" number. When I move to a blue book following PR approval will I keep this ID number or will they issue a new one starting "8-xxx"? My current number is shown on my son's birth certificate and various other documents. I am fearful this will be an issue if I suddenly change numbers. Does anyone know how to deal with this?

    2. Future work permits:

Can anyone shed any light on how having permanent residency affects the process of getting a work permit?

I have heard that it is "easier" for permanent residents but I have no idea what that means.

I also hear reports from some that the requirement for having 4 Thai members of staff per foreigner is removed for PR holders, so in theory a PR holder could get a work permit as a sole employee of a company. Has anyone any experience of this? Clear information on the subject is hard to come by

    Many thanks!

    1. You need to get updated documents with the new ID-number. I had to update in tax records etc. I have no idea about birth certificates, but why would it matter?

    2. Its definitely easier. Wen renewing WP, they don't check Thai staff at all.

Hopefully as this rolls out this will encourage people to get vaccinated.

It may not be perfect.  This nudge is needed for people who for some reason or conspiracy theory are not inclined to be vaccinated.

Now all Thailand needs is quality vaccines.  Sinovac is a major stumbling block as many Thais don't trusted it.

    For good reason.

Yea, look at Israel, the most va*xed country in the world, currently on their 3rd and 4th shot

Yes I did all the documents myself should be relatively easy if you've gone through the permanent resident process as the documentation used is very similar.

My only hiccup was the renunciation letter from the US consulate when I contacted them they said they wouldn't do them but when I went there in person it was absolutely no problem.

The covid situation has definitely affected things I was actually supposed to Lodge my application 2 months before. I had to wait for things to settled down here in Chiang Mai as we were the epicenter for a while.  And the NIA officer informed me that for the last year and a half they haven't done any interviews at all because they need to interview people in person and the covid situation didn't allow that.  She informed me that because of the increased cases recently she might have to stop interviewing depending on directives from the higher-ups.

My plan is to keep my current citizenship, as Norway accept dual now. Did the ask you to renounce your US one??

I was also on the same batch of PR approvals as thaijames so more than 5 years now on PR already. But currently I am out of country and will apply for citizenship once I arrive back in Thailand. Probably early next year. I am also not married to a thai so will be applying solely on basis of 5 years PR

Thats my plan as well. No marriage in sight????

Submitted my application about one month ago in Chiang Mai everything is going smoothly and pretty fast.

Had my Nia interview yesterday no problems and I have another local police (santibaan) interview tomorrow.  I don't expect any problems.

According to my SB officer he might be able to send everything to the ministry of interior within a few months as the NIA was the main hurdle in the past.

    Nice!

Did you do the documents process yourselves?

So there are no extra obstacles because of the current 'situation' ?

I got my 330e last August.  So far have just driven to work and around BKK, so my daily usage is about 50km.  I had the wall charger BMW provided installed at my condo and use that every night.  I usually leave it plugged in overnight, was not aware of the less than 100% charge issue, but I'll check with the dealer.  I have just over 7,000 km on the car and tanked up for just the third time yesterday.  Electricity cost per month around 1,000-1,200 Baht per month.  I finally got Carplay set up this weekend and it works fine.  There had been an issue with the emergency call not working, but that was due to a software update which was just finished and I understand it affected many cars.  The acceleration and performance are excellent, I've had the 320i previously and this 330e is about the best car I've ever driven.

Use precondition and setup charge schedule, so your battery is full just before departure. That way battery degradation is minimal.

Is the battery pack still located in the spare tyre compartment of the trunk in ur BMW?

Then you have the more expensive run-flat-tyres, that can't be replaced at any corner shop.

You can reply with any tires you want. I always go for normal tires, and keep a emergency repair kit in my car.
Batteries are underneath rear seats and trunk. Makes the trunk a bit smaller, but enough for me. Besides can fold the rear seats.

A lot of people can't afford being locked up for 2+ weeks, they have family to care for, pets, income that depends on them being at home at least.

The current system actually encourages people to not report anything and try to hide it as much as they can. I'm completely against keeping these asymptomatic people locked up, they should be just ordered to stay home with a heavy fine if caught outside.

Why anyone would lock up people who aren't sick in the first place is totally crazy. Asymptomatic spread is a myth!

So why are people so reluctant to disclose information regarding

if they have been at risk of catching the virus? Afraid of being locked up in a hospital for an uncertain period of time? Perhaps they should consider letting asymptomatic cases or patients with mild symptom isolate at home, and leave room for those who are more seriously ill.

Especially those 90% with no symptoms...

Yet your own Thai Citizens keep sneaking in because they do not like your quarantine and other measures Sir. How many of those from India will eventually filter through and bring that variant  in with them.  You should be more worried about getting vaccinations moving.

Again sir how many of your own people have you nabbed?, silence on that subject except for an article yesterday about 5 that had been apprehended and tested positive for Covid.

Since 99,995 of us are totally fine even if we get the virus, they should worry more about speeding and drunk driving - that actually kills people.
