Idiots driving at higher speeds kills even more.

The only sensible part of the whole proposal is the one to fine drivers who hog the right hand lane at slow speeds, causing people to overtake on the inside lane. The rest is just madness for a country with such appalling road statistics.

overtake on the left side of a vehicle IS CALLED UNDERTAKING....which IS ILLIGAL HERE......but is done every hour of every day of every week and months.......

    i agree  with you.

They could have a One Stop Service if you have more that one process to accomplish. This was like that in Chiangmai before the computers era. About ten year ago it  was possible.  Everything usual could be done with the same officer.

A lot of people cross the boulevard not only for photocopies but to have access the parking lot.

Te zebra crossing is not safe. It does not mean much for most drivers in Thailand. Flashing signs and light should be added. People going to the airport or the army base shortcut are all in a hurry.  Possibly having speed limit posted at 50 would be a great idea.

Even if you are an adult with all your attention it is difficult to cross  as the traffic is very heavy most of the day. For children and older people could be a challenge.

and do you think drivers will/would take any notice of a 50km speed limit either painted on road or signs at side of the road??

    I very much doubt it....

Very high speed humps would be better..with signs in Thai and English placed well prior to such speed humps......

Big bikes can be a problem in inexperienced hands but I see little to be gained by targeting this particular issue. A broader approach is required on road safety in Thailand, to put it mildly.

a complete overhaul of how a driver "passes" any driving test to achieve a driving licence is required in this country.....a test that teaches ANTICIPATION and PERCEPTION....and one that teaches the laws of the roads.

Having said this.....very difficult to MAKE people drive safely......

Excellent post.  We forget somtimes how under valued the police are here and how they are pawns in the political shenanigans that play out above us all.  Terrible pay, terrible conditions and now this just undermines any authority they have in the eyes of those that run the country.  Some friends of mine were totally wiped out by a guy a few months ago while driving towards Don Mueang.  The guy tips their car over and then runs away.  The police arrested him and were told to drop the case because of who he was.  Not even a fine.

disgusting.....NO ONE SHOULD BE ABOVE THE LAW.....

The OP is a falang and should know better. Just because the Thais are driving dangerously doesn't mean you have to join them.

having wheels in such a position.....does NOT mean the driver is/will drive dangerously DOES IT ????????
