  1. much needed a reliable professional factory trained mechanic to add to already existing Harley repair shops

being a Harley theres always a lot of broken down bikes that need the work of professional factory trained mechanic..that said they do make a nice noise for the immature biker who likes to frighten old ladies as he rides past

How many hve you owned or even had a ride on in the last 20 yrs.? Zero but see alot broken down,ya right.
  2. Is the money in Thailand or you bringing it. ??

Most any Thailand main branch banks in Phitsanulok will exchange & buy pound sterling, don't know if there's a limit though.

Better forum to ask on is :- Jobs, economy, banking, business, investments

    And here's a google site:- http://www.google.co...iw=1016&bih=563

    Perhaps should make clearer..........

It's exchanging baht (that I already have here) for £'s to go on holiday back to UK with.

You could go to bank and order foreign notes in advance.
  3. Well you are right about that! But anyway, the prices here are seriously turning me off. What happend to "everything is cheap in Thailand"? biggrin.png I am now thinking about buying a used HD in Europe, and drive it through Russia + China and into Thailand. It will be a long ride for sure, but I got plenty of time on my hands.

I guess it will be a one way trip for the bike, but thats fine with me as I am planning on hanging around here for the next 20 years or so.

In the end, it will feel way better than dishing out 1.5 million baht.

You will buy it cheaper but when you arrive and want to reg. then you will be hit with the taxes likely more than the bike shops who do it for a living. Not sure of the current tax but just making the reg. is about 100,000 baht.
  4. it was me who met the guys who lost their HD customised fat boy bikes. Have you ever priced up Harley Davidson bikes here in Thailand or is a Honda Wave more your price range and knowledge. They fetch big money here, especially if they are limited edition.

I just don't like them so never would but believe me plenty here would and do pay the price !

You even say that you don't like them but intimate that anyone with enough money should do so,why?

Maybe he also doesn't like overweight,slow,vibrating,oil-leaking agricultural two-wheeled American tractors with a pushrod v-twin engine design that hasn't changed at all in the last century or so!

Bought by fat, ugly old men who think for some reason it'll make them look cool or Hell's Angels!

BF or GF ride off on a HD?

Your wife runoff on a HD?
  7. i bought my last bike in rayong from a thai man

get him to sign the transfer papers and greenbook and a copy of his id card and take that to your local office

    will be easy

you can change the plate also to reflect your current province for 100 thb or leave it on a rayong plates if you dont care

Thank you for your quick response.

One small problem is that I will be buying it through a Thai bike shop and another is that I am 500 km from Pattaya.

Make sure book is signed, signed copy of sellersID and tambien baan. Also sinatures on bill of sale and power of attorney. Then take all tp KP DOT.
  8. Jayman......

If only I had a nickel for every time some english language expert posted on this forum......

    end quote....

You post a pedantic jab at my choice of the word shooter for the person doing the shooting, and now you are coming back whinging about self proclaimed English experts on this board ?? Sigh, give it a rest..........

Anyway back to topic. The issue of gun control is a complex one, as the USA is finding out now. To me the issue is really not that difficult to solve. Either make it easy for everyone to have a gun, so bad guys will think twice about committing a crime with a gun. Or better yet, outlaw all guns, and make the possession of a gun a capital crime. The worse case scenario is here in Thailand, where wackos have guns but ordinary people cannot buy them.

Getting a gun is very easy. Go to gun shop, get letter from MIB,done.
  9. Yes you can do that at the main DMV for your location.

but you will have to "de register" from the old province and then " re register" in the new province

and get new number plates it can mean quite a few trips to the DMV.

Thanks is de-registering a big deal?

Also would that be done by the seller then?

Actually it does sound like a big deal or many trips at least.

So basically anytime a person buys a bike from a province other than the one he lives

in he can, continue with the original plates but must go back each year to renew etc?

I always see so many used bikes on mocyc dot com that look decent but they are usually

many hundreds of KM away in another province.

You can keep the book up to date by paying yearly tax in any province. When you decide to reg. in your province only 2 visits req. Ist you go with book and paperwork and second to pick up new plates. Not difficult.

Before I moved to Thailand, I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic. It was the best bike I have owned. It was a pleasure to ride and durable. Would I trade it for an HD? No way, and I had the opportunity to do it for free. When my younger brother passed away a couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to take one or all of the 3 HDs he had. They were essentially all new bikes with none having more than 50 miles on them. (Its a long story). I passed on all three. Were it not for the heavy marketing and living on its passed glory, HD would be just an average to slightly better than average bike. I had way less problems with my Vulcan than any of my friends had with their HDs. The only reason I haven't gotten a new Vulcan here is that I refuse to pay a 50+ percent premium over what the same bike would cost back home. In Austin, Texas, I could ride the same bike out of the dealership for under $10,000 US.

I think you are making a great choice with the Classic.

Did you stop drinking beer because it's cheaper back home?
  11. 8 to 10 years out of an OEM battery is well above average I think?

In temperate climates I usually get about 5 years out of a decent quality automotive battery.

Here in the tropics they seem to not last as long.

2-3 years is about the most I get out of car and bike batteries here in Thailand.

To that end I recently bought a CTEK battery tender and we'll see if it helps to extend the working life of my automotive and motorcycle batteries.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the AGM type of battery you are looking for... Is that the same as a gel battery? If so, those seem to be quite rare here in Thailand.

If your bike runs on a regular 12V 6+ Ah battery then I think any old motorcycle battery that fits in the battery box should do, no? You can probably buy a 10 year supply of cheap Thai-made motorcycle batteries for the cost of one fancy imported gel battery.

Did you purchase your battery tender in TL and if so where? I have a made in TL Kawasaki D-tracker . Thanks

Just got a ctek charger for a friend. 2,400bht Go to HD playground.com and look under parts for sale or search ctek.
  12. Yes, we could not link the burns to any activity as well, that's why we are puzzled, especially about the big burn in her neck.

BTW, what are those small, roundish, flat, black shellfish that are very common in shallow water at the beach? We crushed a couple - wondering if they could be known to cause this.

    I'd guess jellyfish.
