disagree, and years means nothing.  It's cycles, and how many kms you put on it, how you charge and maintain.

Thanks for adding confirmation to my reply.

3-5 years at the Deco web site so the upper limit of about 2-3 years is plausible and a safe bet. Always best to apply a reduction value to those manufacturers claims.

My DECO battery is about 22 months old, and hasn't missed a beat.  Doubt if it degraded much, if at all.

I expect many more years out of it, and may even outlast me.

Experience wins over the bar stool theories.

    Nothing changes ...

As I mentioned in my opening post, all my cookware on another induction cooker works flawlessly!
Stainless steel cookware is actually considered by many sources to be induction cooker compatible,  and this is how many stainless steel products are

advertised at HomePro , IKEA etc. About my "Hemkomst" IKEA pot shown in the photo, you will find the following product description on the website:

My knowledge of the workings of induction cooker electronics is good but lacking for cookware.

A few tests reveal most stainless steel cooking pots to be highly magnetic some more so at the base with a few showing only mild attraction. I have also found aluminium pan with steel inserts in the base.

All induction cookers make a test for the presence of an iron circuit before allowing full power. It is quite possible that your cooker is failing to detect within the low end of its acceptable range and maybe faulty. Most induction cookers use rectified raw mains power directly so it would be a good idea to check that your two phase supply voltage is healthy when the cooker is on load.

Now there is one more thing I almost forgot to mention.

I ordered the induction cooker alongside a sink & traps from IKEA at the very beginning of planning my new kitchen. At that point it was already clear that it was going to be a concrete kitchen, but without the knowledge that this concrete would be stabilised with rebar.

Only during the construction did I realise that this could be a problem for the induction cooker. I asked the craftsman responsible to remove as much of the rebar as possible. Under the cooker and at the back and sides everything is free, but at the front exactly in the insertion area we unfortunately could not remove a steel strut in order not to destabilise the whole underbody.

However, at the time I was afraid that the reinforcing steel could heat up.

Here are 2 photos, could this be the cause of the error message?

    IMG_4101.png.f42ac91c26fe3ee4f5dc7e6852276861.pngIMG_5874.png.2b44b7d1854f9c6a9fef521927fa2f54.png

Work top steel reinforcement would be out of the induction coils range and also outside of the hobs steel case which is also out of range.

I can't imagine how acceptable induction can take place within a stainless pot unless it has some kind of iron base or content. Most induction hobs make make a pulsed induction level test before allowing power to the coils.

That video is actually using a failed car sharing's stock of cars seen here https://www.scmp.com/abacus/tech/article/3029238/thousands-shared-electric-cars-seen-discarded-hangzhou and misrepresenting it as the manufacturer stockpiling.

The guy in the link you posted (Winston Sterzel) has been discredited as a China hater, he can't go to China, hasn't been there in years.  Most of his videos are anti-China.

There are two sides to the discarded EV story in China.

    1. Cars dumped from failed schemes subsidised by the government.
    2. Cars registered then dumped in fields so that manufacturers can meet government subsidy numbers.

The video in question clearly shows both sides of the story and then goes on to talk about environmental issues. Those struggling to understand should listen carefully as the video makes the transition at 3:36.

I guess one can expect videos like these to come under heavy attack from Chinaboo's and the army of online soldiers paid to keep China looking squeaky clean.

The creator of said video Winston Sterzel; has quite the story to tell about his China adventure which includes the making of Conquering Southern China (8.4 IMDB rating). I have only scratched the surface but it quickly becomes apparent that he fled China with his Chinese wife not because he hates China or its people.

This whole story, even if true, is a non-event.

17yo boy sends naughty selfies over phone .............. so what?

About as serious as double parking (if true).

Shock horror probe stories keep the sheeple occupied and give ad algorithms something to bite on. Engineered dramas can also be used to squeeze uncomfortable issues out of the headlines.

Nothing could be more asinine than suggesting climate change activists are hypocritical for using fossil fuels.

Most well informed climate activists would quickly counter the fossil fuel bait.

I see Thunberg as nothing more than a contrived fraud being fed lines by her activist handlers. One only needs to look at what happens when she faces media questions without a script.

Not all bad for Greta though, after her recent spat with Andrew Tate its clear she has a talent for dick jokes.

No longer a child and approaching 20, I really do hope Greta's online safe space army are strong enough to hold off the sh*t storm brewing in media wings.

  9. Born in the UK with parents from the Caribbean, Ngozi Fulani (real name Marlene Headley) is a confrontational black activist with severe identity crisis. One can only assume the African name has been adopted for added effect.

This woman chose to confuse everyone by wearing fancy dress to a formal event at Buckingham Palace. When someone chose to clear up any confusion around her identity, she played the racist card knowing full well no one would dare call her out.

    What maintenance?

My panels have been in since last July, apart from wiping the panels once a month, what else could I do?

Not everyone has panels lashed to the fence.

    QUOTE :-

Homeowners spend an average of $150 to have their solar panels cleaned. Depending on factors such as roof slant, home height and system size, companies charge between $3 and $10 per panel. Some charge a flat rate within a range of $150 to $350. Annual inspections are typically $150 before the cost of cleaning.

Someone on this forum (can't remember user name)  was making these "seed boxes"

I have a similar low power setup but with lithium cell backup. The idea came from member maxpower who posted his system a while back. These boxes  connect locally and exposes the IP. This would bother me if I was back in Europe but not so much here.

Anyone watch the TV series "Hannibal"? It gets a 8.5 rating on IMDB so I thought I'd download all 3 series and give it a try. Got about half way through episode one and gave it away as it didn't grab me at all. Did I give up too soon, should I persevere?

Always best to ignore ratings and let your own taste be the judge with one or two test episodes.

Example - Money Heist has 8+ but I dumped it at S01E02 as I don't like soapy comedy with titles.

  13. Wiki covers the varying use of the word cesspit quite well.

Cesspit is a term with various meanings. It is used to describe either an underground holding tank or a soak pit. It can be used for the temporary collection and storage of feces, excreta or fecal sludge as part of an on-site sanitation system and has some similarities with septic tanks or with soak pits.

Pit latrine would be best to describe a simple turd collecting hole polluting ground water.

There are many septic tank arrangements in Thailand from simple open bottom tanks through to multi tank treatment with soak away or connection to the street drainage system.

The inverter part of the equation is about the cost of running the fan in the head unit, old AC’s used to run until the thermostat told them to stop - and start again when it got hot again. This is extremely inefficient because hot air rises and the thermostat is high up in the head unit. Plus they had clunky old motors which were expansive to run.

The inverter is an electronic method of running the fan on a tiny amount of electricity so that it can keep circulating the air (even when the condenser is not running) and diminishes the effect of hot air rising.

They have also replaced the old thermostats with PID temperature sensors. PID (proportional integral derivative) electronics is much better at controlling temperature than an on/off thermostat because they monitor the rate of change and anticipate the target temperature.

The indoor fan motor of my non inverter office AC is far from clunky and has smart electronic speed control. The ambient temperature sensor is constantly monitored by a microprocessor which appears to be quite good at working with the rising thermals.

Non inverter AC's also use PID control to help hold the set point. Duty cycle is used instead of proportional control of the output.

It is of course possible to make savings by installing inverter controlled AC's especially if they replace conventional units that have become very inefficient.

A few moons back we moved the office inverter AC to another location and replaced it with a conventional unit of same capacity. The difference in energy consumption is not worth screaming about even though the capacity is slightly above what is required and perfect for proportional control.

The guys at our electronics bench repair AC and refrigerator inverter controls as a side line to make extra cash. Many of the failures are from installers not grounding the inverter board and unwanted guests in the outdoor enclosure.
