Why should I?  That photo is not the topic and appears to be poor design.  The OP's project appears, IMO, to be a good design.  And, calculations without specs would be meaningless.  ????

In other words you don't have a clue. ????

But you are correct by saying the photo is not the topic, its just part of some comment made in jest.

Well, it's obvious to me (I did pass professional engineer exam 50 years ago - but that wasn't my interest).  No way that was engineered properly, IMO.

Then maybe you should explain why it is so obvious from the photo. Please feel free to include a diagram and some calculations.

That would be dangerous. You've never seen my wife set up her pyramid with sticky rice and chicken feet and casting spells on people that really p her/us off. I asked her why non had died and she pointed out that they are sick or have lost everything...which is true.

To reduce the chance of spells being cast you must first induce some fear.

  4. This DeWalt 4" is on its 6th year of constant stone to steel abuse only asking for one set of brushes and a on off switch. Local dealer can replace most of its parts if required.

Makita and DeWalt (Heavy duty Black & Decker) are both excellent with dealers around Thailand offering good support and spare parts.

Is chlorination effective for killing Bacteria and Viruses? If so, would you apply it to the water in the dirty tank or to the water in the clean tank that has passed through the filter system? Is it practical to chlorinate and if so how do you do it?

We chlorinate well water for use in a washing process. The water is drawn from a shallow well, chlorinated to approx 4 ppm using a metering pump then passed through a sediment filter and stored in a 4000 L contact tank.

The metering pump is started using flow control with a few safety features to limit failure.

Have your water tested and obtain professional advice before attempting disinfection using chlorine.

I had valves closed on inlet and outlet of pump while i was changing a tap as thought tap was leaking and heard pump start up for few seconds then stop.

You have not included make and model of pump.

If the pump isolation valves are healthy and the pump continues to cycle at regular intervals when they are closed, inspect the pump and its components for leaks.

Common places for leaks around a house pump are pressure tank seams and mechanical seal between pump and motor.

If I did that the cavity would have been huge with very little benefit that I can see, the walls are already 40cm thick.

Where is the huge load coming from for you to require 400 mm -+ columns? The existing cavity alone can accommodate columns suitable of another floor.

Looks to me like you wanted a wide cavity and used the traditional Thai column and fill block method to suit the extra wide space.

    What's the difference?

Chasing walls on a new build is no big drama and even easier on AAC blocks. Two slots with a diamond wheel and some light taps with the chisel.

Conduit down a cavity is fine providing you don't include junctions or tight bends that will be impossible to access later.

here is your 1,005 word answer ????

1,005 apologies. Looking at the columns I though it was a house with several floors not a posh DIY shed. The columns could have been lost in the super cavity allowing the block work to have continuous bond but I guess it don't matter in this application.

So gives more credence to the fact that it is not necessary to fell the two trees in question?

Our packing shed contains some sensitive electronics and has tall trees close by. My biggest concern is keeping nasty stuff on the supply lines in check. We often shut down the weighing and packing process when lightning gets close.

We had a lightning conductor on the old packing shed which has now been removed and donated to a half wooden house owned by family.

Lightning strikes the highest point as it did with your BIL's tree. Putting a building in the vicinity of the trees will not attract lightning.  Are there any other trees the same height within say 100m?

If really concerned you can add a lightning rod to the building.

The trees might provide shade to your building?

Lightning can strike almost anywhere even halfway down an antenna tower or at ground level close to tall trees and buildings.

Fitting lightning conductors to buildings reduces risk of structural damage but can increase the risk of damage to electronic systems. This is why special surge protect methods are applied to buildings fitted with lightning conductors.

  12. The RX999 or ST99 is slightly different as it attempts to isolate the operating lever from the switch to avoid water vapor coming from inside the tank.  The electrical connection side of the switch has waterproof cover.

Sorry, I should have uploaded an image. So here's a shot of the guttering as supplied. It's upside down. Seems like the builders have devised a method using rivets and silicone to fashion an end section, and a down pipe connector. I just wondered if anyone else had come up against a similar problem when using foam panels. They are simple to install, but the guttering not.

The sheet does not appear to be have a coating suitable for hot iron soldering which would make riveting with sealant the best option.

Those 2 pumps are completely different from one another in their design and incomparable to each other other than they have the same 'parts'.

The difference that you don't seem want to understand is that they operate with different valve assemblies and use their parts in a different design.

Just because something has a pressure tank and a switch and a valve does not mean it's the same thing or that it operates in the same way.

The control principal is the same so stop drifting off into pump design and valve assemblies.

If you dig yourself any deeper you'll be needing a pump to prevent drowning.

I will spare you the expense.

The pump runs ALL THE TIME when a valve is open.

Not if the demand is below pump capability. It will cycle on the pressure switch differential just like a well pump and bladder tank does.

Pump + pressure switch + bladder tank big or small its the same principal. Add flow detection and you have constant pressure control.

    Some pics to help.

I would agree in OP's case, but there is something to be said for it as with a sub pump & pressure tank you can completely do away with multiple auxiliary pumps and storage tanks.

Thats not true at all, a house pressure pump operates completely differently than a submersible pump and pressure tank.

Explain why the house pump is different besides maybe a lower pressure and volume.
