  1. We are not talking about what Sunak might have said - we are talking about Boris's claims. I would have fully understood if he'd announced that some plans would have to be postponed due to Covid but that's not what he said.
  2. I'm aware of that but it is in fact UK law - in as much as it is the law that is used in the UK.
  3. Each was underway before he took over. To the best of my knowledge, none of the 'New' hospitals he promised have even been started and 2030 will be with us before we know it.
  4. Then you know nothing about construction. Modular and semi modular have absolutely no comparison to prefabs. You would be very surpised to know how many buildings have a large percentage of their constituents made in a factory.
  5. Well in to 2020 Boris said quite clearly that the money spent on the pandemic would NOT affect his manifesto pledges. I remember that broadcast quite clearly. He was asked how and he said he had it under control - another lie then?
  6. Agreed - especially as it seems he's already started meddling in the election of a new leader - trying to torpedo Sunak according to new reports tonight. My money's on Raab taking over as deputy. They need rid of Boris immediately.
  7. Ermmm - no he doesn't, he'll be out of office shortly.
  8. He isn't Trump and the UK isn't the USA. His resignation has been accepted and there's not a hope of it being undone.
  9. I may be wrong on the exact wording of his claims, I also may not be wrong - I really can't be bothered looking. What I do know is that his story at the time was a complete fabrication - much the same as his claims that no lockdown rules were broken and there were no parties. The man's a con artist - full of words, full of promises - tell me, what has he actually done? What did he achieve as Mayor of London - apart from wasting £43 million of taxpayer's money on a bridge that never got built. Oh, I'll tell you one thing he has achieved, him and Farage - split the country! I cannot understand how, if they actually research his well documented history, anyone could possibly support him.
  10. I was project manager on a small private hospital that we began in August 2009 and completed in November 2010. The size is irrelevant though - it all depends on how many people you throw at it. With modern, semi-modular building methods, there is no need for a hospital to take several years to build. Semi-modular also makes changes and future adaptations relatively simple. Conversely, can you tell me which of Boris's hospitals are underway - Boris's note, not ones that were already underway when he took over.
  11. It was not true at all. Johnson claimed bananas had to be straight - read the entire conformity rules, don't just post part of them. If bananas had to be straight, there'd be none in the shops. Check out what 'abnormal curvature' actually means. I'll give you a clue - bananas are naturally curved - i.e. 'normal'. Just another load of Johnson BS. Just like when he stood in front of the camera's and said the EU had caused great expense to UK fishermen by demanding a new style of packaging for kippers. The next day it was revealed that the new packaging was actually a UK rule. The man doesn't even know what day is it, never mind how to run a country.
  12. Let's face it, the only reason he won his 80 seat election victory was that people voted for the conservatives who would never dream of doing so normally. The reason - both labour and the lib-dems were going to prolong the brexit debate that had been going on for, I think, 3 years. Like many people I know, even remainers, we just wanted it over, it was crippling the country. I voted conservative for that very reason but I also thought the party would get rid of the buffoon within a few months, how wrong I was. Those who support him should do a little research into his history (of lies). Remember the EU Bent Banana story? A lie concocted by Boris when he was a journalist.............there are many examples both in and out of office, do your research and see just who it is (in reality) you support. Another was the £350 million per week the UK would save. Then there's his spending - anyone know about the £43 million he spent of his Garden Bridge, the one that never got built when he was Mayor of London - FORTY THREE MILLION POUNDS! for a bridge that didn't even get to the planning permission stage - to name but one. Spent/Wasted on PPE during the pandemic? That will come out in the inquiry but its rumoured to be billions. Achievments? Vaccine? - any other Prime Minister would have done the same, the thing was developed in a UK university for god's sake. Anyone checked the UK's Covid deaths total? In any case, I doubt Boris had much at all to do with the actual planning of the vaccine rollout - that was carried out by the NHS. Brexit - Oven Ready Deal........really? Then why is Brexit still not done (Northern Ireland) New Hospitals? - None built - or even started as far as I know. Levelling up? A con, most of his projects in the North have been cancelled. HS2? - Northern sections cancelled. The man did a lot of talking, a lot of lying and tried to change the law to protect his buddies. But he actually did very little other than damage the country's reputation. The problem now for the UK is how much damage has he done and do the conservatives have time to make effective repairs before the next election? If labour get in, it will be disasterous for the UK. The conservatives need to think very carefully about who they choose as their next leader. Liz Truss is almost as hated (by the public) as Boris is and if they elect one of the candidates with foreign heritage, that will also probably cause them to lose the next election. There's still a lot of racism in the UK and the public think very differently to the major party members who seem to live in cloud cuckoo land. Reece Mogg? I haven't seen any announcement from him but surely, even the conservatives wouldn't be that stupid. The man should be shot. Interesting and potentially worrying times ahead.
  13. I very much doubt the Middle Eastern airlines are paying the same for their fuel as Eurpoean ones are.
  14. Strike action cancelled for the time being.
  15. Yes well thankfully, under UK law they are obliged to book you on another airline if one is available the same day - regardless of the cost (applicable to flights starting in the UK). Its about time that law was enforced more firmly - maybe by adding compensation if they don't book you on the same day and/or make you pay first. In practice, getting them to obey the law can be difficult and although you will win in the end, you need to have enough cash available to book that alternative flight and do the fighting later - not that you should have to fight, the law is quite clear. I had a similar situation with KLM a few years back where they screwed up and I missed my connecting flight from Amsterdam to the UK. There's a set level of compensation if you have to wait more than a set number of hours. KLM denied that and tried to wriggle although I'm absolutely certain they knew very well (I'm sure I was not the first person to claim it). I was advised to write to them quoting the law (can't remember the exact reference) - which I did and received a cheque, almost by return.
  16. Are you talking about Thailand-Europe-Thailand - in which case that was something else I noticed. Usually flight prices from Thailand are more expensive than from Europe - this year the reverse seems to be true, probably because the European ones are so expensive.
  17. As I've said repeatedly - I spent a day looking at every option and I can't be flexible. No sign of my flights a couple of weeks ago suffering from passengers postponing - both ways, all 4 flights were rammed. Hand luggage? 2 weeks in Thailand on hand luggage?
  18. I'm nowhere near Manchester but its my nearest airport for reasonably priced flights - my local airport? Forget it. There are also no buses where I live - car and airport parking in the best for me. If you'd like to walk 3 miles up a steep hill with 2 suitcases, your welcome. I'm not here to get into an argument, I know what I'm doing and I know how to find the best flight prices. I am simply pointing out that flight prices are crazy this year - hopefully things will get back to normal next year.
  19. That's what an agent told me - many people haven't travelled for over 2 years and are prepared to pay these crazy prices. Fuel prices will affect airlines too but I have a sneaking suspicion that middle eastern airlines don't pay the same for the fuel as others - when they fill up at home ????.
  20. They don't actually - only the airlines know that. Airlines release flights to agents in blocs at a certain price. When those tickets are all sold, they release the next bloc - prices are according to how sales are going. So, when an agent says 'only 5 seats available' its usually 'only 5 seats available at this price' - they just rarely say that. That's why one week a flight will appear to be sold out, then the next week its available again.
  21. No, he obviously paid more for a ticket that allowed changes without cost.
  22. Agreed - my last flight was the usual 787 Dreamliner. I doubt the airlines have spare smaller planes hanging around.
