  1. Hi , I do have a Thai tax ID number ( which now I regret getting 😱 ) .
  2. Cheers , very useful information , today I'm going to the small local tax office along with my Thai wife and show them the tax form I received in the post , and see what they can help with / advise .
  3. Cheers , thats some thing to think about 🙏.
  4. Many thanks, so it sounds like a personal visit to the tax office seems to be the less stressful option. Can I ask , what type of documents did you take with you to the TDR office , or any other paperwork / ID.
  5. Thanks, that sounds a good option 🙏. Yet another thought, I think that you can do the form filling on line ( https://efiling.rd.go.th/rd-cms/ ) but I wonder how you would confirm things like a bank statement , while using the online option.
  6. Thanks , thats very helpful. Ive just had a thought, the Thai bank where in the past I claimed back the tax that was taken ( Krungsri bank ) is different from the Thai bank where my UK state pension is paid into ( Bangkok Bank ) I can obtain the tax statement from the Krungsri bank, but I'm not sure what I would have to ask for from the Bangkok bank , to show my UK state pension income .
  7. I must admit that after 20 years of being married to my Thai wife , it was one of the best things that I have ever done. 👍
  8. I was just thinking that receiving the tax form was a sort of asking for my details. Ive just found a link that should be the tax filling online web site , but its in Thai ........ https://efiling.rd.go.th/rd-cms/
  9. Thanks, so its looking more and more like that I need to fill out the tax form, my problem is that my Thai wife does not understand the questions on the tax form , and I'm not too happy about paying a tax consultant to advise me what to do.
  10. Many thanks, your suggestion is appreciated. The tax form that arrived in the post has 8 separate sides with many sections that need to be completed, all written in Thai, My Thai wife does not understand the questions on the tax form , and I'm not too happy about paying a tax consultant to advise me what to do. I could take the tax form to the small local tax office and ask them to help me fill out the form , but I'm not sure what their answer would be. So some how not having to complete the tax form would be a better all round option.
  11. Thanks, Yes I made a mistake, I should have said that it was my UK state pension . I wonder if my UK state pension is well below the the threshold amount , then is there any need to complete the tax form.
  12. How does the saying go ... you live and learn . 😀 , I will just wait and see if any thing happens .
  13. Thanks for your comment , If I could buy you a 🍺 I would .
  14. Ive made many past mistakes since I decided to live in Thailand , the first was to inform the UK pension service that I was going to live premaritally in Thailand (frozen pension for 20 years ) and the other mistake was to get involved with the Thai tax system. If I could only turn the clock back .
  15. Many thanks, I'm 75 years old and I have my UK government retirement pension deposited in my Bangkok bank , depending on the currency exchange rate , it works out to around 29, 000.00 Baht a month. So hopefully I may be able to just ignore the tax form and see if any thing happens. The form arrived at my house by the Thai post , and the letter was not recorded .
  16. Hi and thanks, I have my UK government retirement pension deposited in my Bangkok bank , depending on the currency exchange rate , it works out to around 29, 000.00 Baht a month.
  17. Hopefully any reply's to my question will be helpful 🙏 .
  18. Thanks, the only money I have coming into Thailand ( to my Bangkok bank account ) is a small monthly government retirement pension . I have a feeling that if I do go to the local Thai tax office and start asking questions , things could end up becoming more complicated. I was hoping that if I don't plan to make any more claims to receive back tax taken from my Thai savings account , I could just ignore the form .
  19. The envelope the form came in looks official . On the envelope it appears to say that the form should be completed between the 1st of February to the 31st of March.
  20. I live permanently in Thailand and Ive just received a first ever tax form in the post at my home. A few years ago I obtained a Thai Tax ID number and made a claim to get back the tax amount taken from my Thai bank savings account ( around 2,000.00 Baht ) . in the following years I never bothered to claim any tax being taken from my Thai bank savings account . The form looks like a real pain to fill out ( 8 sides ) and I'm not planning to claim any further tax again taken from my Thai bank savings account ( not worth the hassle ) . Can I just ignore the form , or will I get in some sort of trouble if I don't fill the form in . Thanks
  21. The New LG TV is in a different room ( Lounge ) but I managed to run a very long ethernet cable from my bedroom where my computers are , up into the loft and down into the lounge . .
  22. So Ive purchased a new LG smart tv and on the back of the TV there is an Ethernet port . I have run an ethernet cable from my home WiFi router to the LG TV. The same home WiFi router is also connected to both my computers ( 1 Mac + 1 Linux ) so the TV + Mac + Linux are all on the same home network . On both my computers I have a separate desktop folder containing videos that Ive downloaded , which I can play and watch from both my computers. As the LG TV is connected to the same home network via the ethernet cable , I would like to find a way to watch the videos on the LG TV , that are in the desktop folder , on my computers. I know that I can watch some content ( Youtube ) directly on the LG TV using the internet connection provided via the connected ethernet cable , which is connected to my home WiFi router, but I would prefer to watch the videos I have stored on a desktop folder on my home computers. If possible I don’t really want to purchase a separate TV box . So I’m looking for a way to watch the videos stored in a desktop folder on my computers , on my new LG TV. Any ideas please. Tom
  23. The wife’s widowed mother’s old house has a tiled roof that is leaking water , which is dripping down onto the lounge ceiling . Ive been up in the roof space and can see many places where the roof tiles are cracked or theres a space between the tiles where the day light shows through. I think applying some sort of roof sealer to the whole exterior area may be difficult and not a long term answer . I think the overall cost to have the whole house roof retiled with new tiles , would be beyond our financial means. I was wondering if any one had done the same as shown in the attached video, or knows more about that idea of laying Upvc type plastic roof sheets on top of existing roof tiles . Tom . 24. Thats interesting , when I go to sleep at night time , my mind always seems to be in 1st gear and racing away thinking about so many things and it makes getting off to sleep very difficult After seeing this comment that cannabis can be helpful for sleep , I'm now wondering if there's any cannabis type product that I can take , to help me get a better nights sleep . I have never smoked cigarettes , Any thoughts , suggestions or recommendations Please. Tom .
  25. So there I am sitting around a table at a local bar with other expats at our weekly get together . I noticed that several of the other expats were puffing away at electronic cigarettes , when I asked had they stopped smoking real tobacco cigarettes , every one puffing away at their electronic cigarettes smiled and said that their electronic cigarettes were filled with cannabis. Now Ive never used cannabis , so I asked what using their cannabis filled electronic cigarettes did for them . The majority said that using their electronic cigarettes filled with cannabis , made them feel happy and in some cases relived anxiety and stress. So that got me wondering . So what is the reason you use cannabis , is it to make you feel more happy or help you relax or reduce anxiety and possible stress related situations. Or do you use cannabis for a medical issue or some other reason . Tom .
