That one has a low voltage ELCB built in... so it makes me wonder that now it is hot as Hell again, and you are running ac and fans.. and getting a voltage drop, or even a neighborhood wide low voltage situation. The last few days in BKK have been major league hot. If you have small meter 5/15 service, you really need to watch the load. Sure you can have ac and hot shower.. but you gotta watch simulateous usage.

Many poster here will never understand why Thai embassies sell Visas to people who in reality cannot enter the country. Can you comprehend that this is more logical than your opinion? Imagine buying an cinema ticket but cannot enter the cinema because you have been there to many times? You are not interested in movies but other devious intents to enter? Same same, but different.
Buy a Cimema ticket for a movie in a Vegas casino, say MGM, if you have been 86ed, they will use high tech to identify you, and arrest you for trespassing. A guy got banned for cashing a slot voucher someone abandoned at a machine.. 32 cents... they caught him entering a casino steakhouse 6 months later... he wasn't arrested, but I don't think it helped his relation with his date very much.

But is this only if they choose or need to. I.e. if something has arouse there suspicion?
A fresh passport with one visa in it wouldn't arouse suspicion?
They always type in your passport number and it brings up your history, then they likely search your name through an indexed list of other entrants. Many ways to skin a cat. The worst thing for their careers would be the one to let a terrorist in, but other criminals would be high on the list, and in the process, they will open the can of worms regarding living on a TR Visa. If I was mid 40s instead of mid 50s, I would be long gone.

the GFCI do wear out.

They were bringing up history relatively fast, well before the scanners. I think the prints are used to confirm that your print matches the last print...

On line reviews its an old dump a LONG walk to MRT, no English TV , no footpaths but good alternative to backpacker's so good value in that regards
no thanks,
Would beat the heck out of living next to CIA, DEA, NGO, and missionaries trying to avoid their hosts, but yes, it is a bit far from MRT, and of course, the sidewalk sucks, but perhaps an eye opener to what you can pay in a very livable area, without having to walk by tables of sex toys and soi Arab to go grab a beer.

http://www.seaoflovemansion.com/index.htm. MRT beats BTS.. and gives half price to farang at age 60.

Get a travel medical at www.insubuy.com.since you are brit, you must buy before trip begins. Get a high deductible, and you will have good protection from ruin. Also, world nomads is good for those with nanny state care in their home countries.

I would go up the MRT instead of out the BTS to save $$.

Booked a tix on vietjet yest from bkk-cnx in a few weeks, noted they try to upsell u so much and even marked me as having heavy luggage when I'm always under 7kg as I only bring a carry on...in the end the original price was double with all the fees! $18 became $32....$42 if I hadn't caught the luggage scam
they must be copying AA, who do the same thing...add ons by default. Vietjet is nice, though...watch them on the middle name scam.

This has been discussed here before, and the consensus was the bus service from Swampy, for schedule, efficiency, low cost, and taking you all the way to Jomtien. Lower level. Depends on where you are starting from... Ekami isn't the best choice, for most. Perhaps someone can give the name or post their link here, if you are interested. A friend did the personal cab for years to and from Hua Hin.. but he too, switched to the VIP type bus and is a happy camper.

The legacy Thai banks are a bit like the legacy Thai airline.. too often, customers seem to be an inconvenience. They do run some good funds and security. I wouldn't want large sums linked to my everyday banking. Up to you.

Sounds like yet more copies, and more reason to do them before you have to pay 3 each, instead of 3 for 1 THB.

Wow, rented to some Chinese 22 years ago thanks for the updated info....
The head scratcher for me as you are talking about investment.
Why would anyone buy anything in Thailand period for investment??
Certainly under the current conditions, seems reckless and uninformed....
Walking across the street is a gamble, buying a lottery ticket is an investment.

Seems like only in Patts.

Maybe they think it is another complaint about the warm beer.
RIP to this guy... swimming alone is risky... the Irish were some of the most important immigrants to the US, besides the Sgermans, of course, and are mostly great folks to do a beer or five with. If only the Canadians were half as cool.

Separate tickets makes you vulnerable, when flying. My EVA flight was three hours late to VIE, they greeted us at the gate to make arrangements, but informed a group of Chinese with separate tickets to Poland, they were SOL.
OP, are you saying they would not let you check your luggage through to cambo, when you first checked it in?

Thanks, the Maybank website looks like it's from 1999:
https://www.maybank-ke.co.th/en/account-opening/
Anyone actually use this?
True Brokerages: can you shoot a link? I can't find out much about it.
I'm curious if something like Vanguard or Wealthfront exists here for Thai people to invest long term. It's surprising nothing obvious exists.https://www.maybank-ke.co.th/th/index.html
I meant brokerages, whose roots are in investing, as opposed to commercial banking. The overlay is bigger all the time. The SET is about 2 km North of Asok, on Ratchadaphisek, so the big players are going to be near it, but some have satellite offices throughout the country. It is very country specific, that's why you don't see fidelity and schwab here.
Here is the SET site.. https://www.set.or.th/set/mainpage.do?language=en&country=US

I would charge one month, but would make them show me their credit report. I rented to some Hong Kongers 22 years ago, and they had a credit score. Would have to have a long stay visa, too. Way too many Facebook posts looking for subletters for the last 10 months of their lease. Meanwhile, some good diversified REITs are yielding 7+%, some even paid monthly, so it is a head scratcher (and hopefully not lice from tenants), as to why people become landlords in a foreign country, with net yields mostly below 5%.

I never said she wasn't working, although hours spent in the day actually working aren't that many, she often naps and is on her phone a lot (like many are) She pays a laundry woman bt1800 a month for all the laundry.
Very bad. Might even be siphoning 500 off the top.

I will admit that I have been looking to buy a second home in the US and spending half the year there.. for many of the same reasons. Basic wine and steak seems so special after living here full time for 6 years. Even good steak fries.. cheap as chips, no pun intended, in the US.. 800 Gram bag is 55 THB... the shoestring they serve here are more like prison food. Pop's 200 dollar Internet TV bill is nothing to sneeze at, and for 250k, they are 80 miles from DC ( a good thing), but there are numerous Africans in their hood, but no crime.

maybank kimeng.., but I thought SBI, state bank of India looked interesting...depends on location...also the big banks have investment arms, but I like the look and feel of the true brokerages..but trading is so easy in the US, I refuse to monkey around hete, but for Thai different story, and there are some good funds to get in...
Governor: "there will be air pollution this coming year" Safety zones proposed
in Chiang Mai

I just checked Agoda for a room next Sunday in CM.. I have a 1.40 credit.. some of the hostels are showing 0 dollars per night. You couldn't pay me to stay in a CM backpacker dump, but eventually I have a little unfinished business in my former home. My brother in law works as an engineer at 3M. I asked about gas masks, even thinking a donation to a local school here in BKK, would show good will. He said their company store prices aren't allowed to sell for less than Walmart, unless it is a discontinued item, and those are the last things 3M will be discontinuing. But, it appears that the hotels will fare the worst, as it is much easier for restaurants to scale down, or simply close. Same with the tour guides, and sole proprietorship.. Construction and finance will suffer, but that is more of a macro issue. It is obvious the farang are sensitive to pollution. Less clear is how it affects the flag men, and their soldiers. Their numbers may be down, but that, too, may be more of a macro thing.. and there are so many more yet to come out of their cage. Never seen a group so unsophisticated, when it comes to food and drink, which is a bad thing for locals. Analyst like to equate economic crisis in terms of baseball innings.. this one is still in the first inning. The next few innings may bring boarded up businesses, and elimination of flights. Add some scenes of sick kids piled into government hospital emergency rooms, and it will start snowballing. The first thing to do is keep it from getting worse, and so far, the men in polyester suits have not been able to contain the damage. Kind of like the reports on the California wild fires... We are happy to report, the xxxx Fire has now successfully been 25% contained... doesn't really offer much assurance when you can see the flames from your back porch. At least you can enjoy a good bottle of wine, during the burn and smoke something besides the air.
