Is there a solution, look at history where civilisations have disappeared, who is to say we will be any different, too many people in too small an area, growing crops that the land cannot sustain, destroying flood plains and forests, we hardly work with the land, or do you see it different.

I think that the solution to the problem that affects the whole world currently might be closer to happening than we actually think. The total financial collapse of the world's economy due to the debt burden. Caused by Banks, Corporate Greed and Governments. Then after we finish shooting all the greedy bastards that caused it we will be able to address the issues facing the world.

But it was burned in a night?

Relying on monsoon rains to fill reservoirs ever year? maybe not the best idea, you don't have to look further than Ankor Wat to see what happens when you expect expect nature to co-operate annually  ????

So what is the solution then?

  3. I have never seen one of these but I am assuming its an attempt to create some kind of a biological type filter, possibly for water softening? I would agree with the majority of people here. Throw it away. Use the mesh. If you are really serious about additional filtration then an inline UV filter might do the trick.

It is only frozen as you put it, if you are no longer normally resident in the UK. Beware thinking that you are 'normally resident' in Thailand, you are not, at least not unless you do gain that status here, or become a Citizen. .  Any extension of stay here is merely a temporary permission to stay in Thailand for a period of 12 months, it is not a permanent residency.  That being so, if you tell the UK authorities that you are now not resident in the UK, but normally resident in Thailand, you are doing yourself a massive disservice.  Others will no doubt tell you that this is against the spirit and actuality of the law. As far as I know, this has not been tested in the UK Counts. My advice would be to maintain a UK address, maintain your place on the Electoral Roll, keep your UK bank, return to the UK every now and again, but no less than once every two extensions of stay (to maintain residency)  and come to Asia on an extended holiday.

Well said. That is my plan 100%

Amazing the amount of posts on Samui forums we get from sad people living elsewhere and wished they lived on Samui. I have tried various sausage suppliers in Bangkok and they are all bordering on average.

They used to. Some twit at Makro decided to change supplier and the Makro 'Cumberland sausages' now contain chicken and are particularly offensive. There are some TGM sausages sold there that are okay. Big Joes used to sell half decent sausages and 'farang food' but everything has gone to pot there in the past few years.

You can order online and they ship to Samui. But seeing as you know everything I bet you already knew that.

Yes thats right, I keep an Australian sim going for $5 a month. Lots of the newer phones are dual sim nowadays, the home sim can be the 2nd sim in your phone, sitting there until you need it.

    Easy as. Dual SIM phone.

I don't quite understand your punctuation. You seem to state that Airbnb type rentals need government control but later you state that you should be able to rent your villa without such "interference".

Why do you feel that you should be treated any differently to any other accommodation provider?

Many cities in the world are correctly imposing very strict licensing laws on short term rentals, which are now hitting "legal" accommodation providers, as stated somewhere among the buzzwords in Bill Barnett's article.

Why should a government control what you do with your own private property? The simple reason is control and taxation. Government control in this day and age is done on the basis of how much revenue can be generated. No revenue. No control. Then if you Impose Taxes, Fees and Regulatory Payments and the money goes into state coffers. More control required.

were there any minimums, fees, or other restrictions?  I actually live near HQ, and when I google many building materials, SCG HQ is at the top of the list, but I didn't see any way to order.

I will find out from the Mrs.
