Neighbor checked with van organiser / border run he was told TM30 was indeed requisite
If true, that's just a "local rule" of that particular border crossing to allow a quick out-in border bounce. It's obviously a good idea to follow whatever guidance the border run company provides you with, even if this particular rule sounds nonsensical.

That's the only question I can answer with confidence. Foreigners can use those automated gates for departure only. The idea was to move more IOs to arrivals as a result, so both should be smoother.

Hopefully that will deter other vile pieces of work from doing the same.

Good old Hat Lek border crossing with overly corrupt Cambodian officials. I went there last year with my girlfriend who is a from a middle eastern country. It is clear on the Cambodian Gov't website that she was eligible for entry to Cambodia with a visa on entry. We cleared Thai immigration with no problems. We were then approached by some tout at the Cambodia immigration post who asked what we planned. I told him that we wished to get a Visa on entry and visit the casino and a restaurant. He told us that the visa fee would be 3000 baht each plus 300 baht each to leave the same day. I pointed out to him that the actual cost was about 1500 baht each for the visas and told him that I would deal with the official at the office. He said suit yourself. I went to the window and they demanded 3000 each. I asked to speak to the boss and was shown into a room where the boss also demanded 3000 baht. I tried telling him that as per the official Cambodian gov't website the price was 1500 baht. He wasn't having any of it. I was trapped outside Thailand with no way to return without paying the 3000 extortion fee. I ended up paying. Never going there again. I did notice that other travelers had E-Visas and had no issues or extortion demands.
Seriously, you tried to argue "the law" with Cambodian officials? Ridiculous.

How long after entering Thailand can I apply for the 60 day extension ?
Based on what would you be applying, do you have a Thai wife or Thai children?
Otherwise you can only get another 30 days, added to your initial 30 days given when you entered.
In either case, depending on your local immigration office, you can usually apply a couple of weeks before your permission to stay expires. There are some exceptions though, someone might be able to advice if you let us know where you plan to apply.

Congrats Thailand, now every Thai will be rich. ;)

Why even go through the charade of holding an election then, if the sitting president has "total immunity" no matter what he does to secure the outcome he wants? It would be pointless.
Which is why, NO, the president shouldn't have "total immunity".

It's a good and relatively quiet border crossing, and yes, nearest to Koh Chang.
For the Cambodian eVisa, the address of a hotel in Koh Kong (such as for example, Apex or Natthy) would be suitable.
Please be aware that Cambodian immigration will probably charge you an extra fee (typically about 300 baht) to allow you to return to Thailand on the same day. That's pretty much standard, as officially, you are required to stay overnight.

is it possible to open a bank account based on Thailand Elite visa?
Also is it allowed to stay 5 years in a row without leaving the country on this visa type?
Thanks.
Yes to both.
If you want to stay 5 years in a row without leaving the country, that's fine, but you do need to get an extension at your local immigration office once per year.

I told you it was because i got pulled up for it.
6 was the max they stated to me and if it wasn't for the fact that my wife was on the operating table they would have put me on the next plane out of the country.
There is (or used to be) an alert for IOs after 6 visa exempt entries, meant to signal to the IO that this is a frequent visitor under the visa exempt scheme who needs extra scrutiny.
There was never a hard limit, however, and your example proves just that, as they let you in after you gave them a satisfactory explanation.

They are assuring me, and speaking to other people who know Thailand etc, that it is actually very common/easy to enter via visa exempt for 30 days and extend by another 30 at immigration and then by that point the school will have sorted the study visa.
Yes, nothing wrong with that approach.

With a METV and after 3 weeks out, you shouldn't be suspected of using that visa "improperly". So you'd probably be alright at the Bangkok airports, but Chiang Mai is the best option.

Sounds like trash to me. I think when it comes to Thai movies, I'll stick to scary ghost movies.

Normally, foreigners who come to Thailand to train can stay for 60 days on a tourist visa but with this special visa, they can extend their stay to 90 days.
Come again? A regular tourist visa that allows a stay of 60 days can already be extended by 30 days, for a total of 90 days. What's the benefit of that "special visa"?

A Ukrainian man damaged public and private property inside the Patong Police Station and caused a public nuisance, reportedly due to being completely broke and having no way to pay for a ticket back to the Ukraine.
Maybe his government will buy him a ticket back, if he volunteers to join the army. I'm hearing they could use some more soldiers, so it makes little sense to let him stay in Thailand, broke and stuck and vandalizing police stations.

I was at Hua Hin immigration on Thursday. You know what they were asking for instead of TM 30's?? They were asking to see your room key!!
Was that at the main immigration office or at BluPort?

Hahahaha, the same Jack1988 that appeared on every Covid Extension thread back in the day, telling everyone that they won't last forever & that we should all go home, hahaha - Even had the audacity to send me a PM telling me "Bye Bye Thailand" no more Covid Extensions for you (I'm still here), hahaha.
Never failed to tell all members that he didn't require a Covid Extension as he was happily married - Now he's divorced & wants to come back on a ED Visa 🤣🤣🤣 Karma baby, Karma 🤣🤣🤣
I couldn't help but think along the same lines. Oh the irony.
That's something guys on a "marriage visa" should always consider anyway - you're just one divorce away from needing another visa option, too.

The official rule was indeed rescinded, but that doesn't stop some IOs from still using it as a guideline for their scrutinizing of visa exempt entries.
In reality, there isn't anything you can do when you encounter such an IO (s/he certainly won't be impressed by a link to the website saying that the rule was rescinded). If anything, being polite has a higher chance of success than being argumentative or coming across as entitled.

Any outbound ticket will do, it doesn't matter to which country.

Nowadays it's best to avoid any avoidable overstays, as immigration isn't as relaxed about them anymore as they used to be.
Personally, I'd either leave on time or get those extra "7 days to leave the country" from immigration.

This really depends on your individual embassy, there's no hard rule.
Factors like your age might come into play as well; does the consular officer believe that you likely have the time and the means for long holidays or is it more likely that you (ab)use your extended stays in Thailand to work here illegally.

OK - which embassy has the right information?
Thai embassies and consulates have a poor track record of providing correct information on immigration matters. If you're lucky, the information they provide about their own services (such as visa requirements) is correct and up to date.
A better source for information about immigration matters is - immigration! But as there's no official limit for visa exempt entries by air, you won't get a definitive answer from them either.
visa question , got stamped in, customs issued a 30 day but did not see my issued 6 month tourist multi entry unstamped page what to do (still Valid)????

It's your responsibility to check the stamp you get upon arrival. That being said, if you go to immigration, chances are they'll fix it for you and make it 60 days.
