Pattaya is not so good for retirement now is it you think
You're just too poor to retire, nothing to do with Pattaya or Thailand really. Enjoy working some more, bye for now.

I would hope that won't be happening until the ETA gets finished. The TDAC is simply a self made statement, not a "clearance". They will have a stack of TM6 forms on arrival, as they always used to, for the incapable travellers.
I don't think they will still have any paper forms, the whole idea is not having to deal with them any longer.
They want YOU (the traveler) to do the data entry for them, instead of having to decipher your handwriting.
They might offer a way to enter the information in arrivals (by providing tablets or kiosks), but I wouldn't count on that.

What happens if u dont fill it out? Separate line for those people? This is a stupid idea. Some people will forget.
To streamline the process, it's possible that they will instruct the airlines to require the QR code when you check in for a flight to Thailand. Or they might have kiosks at the airports, like Cambodia. Time will tell.

The name field only accepts characters A-Z. This would appear to be to keep Elon Musk's children out of the country since neither Exa Dark Sideræl or X Æ A-Xii is permissible.
It would also bar all Europeans with umlauts, tildes and accents in their names.
That is not uncommon, also seen with Vietnam's eVisa system for example.
They'd enter their names in the same way as they appear in the machine-readable lines of their passport.

delayed SMS alerts
I'm not sure if I'd call them "delayed", considering I still haven't received one. "Forgotten", maybe?

Minor aftershocks are fuelling mass hysteria after Friday's event, understandably creating widespread fear.
I haven't seen any evidence of "mass hysteria" here in Bangkok. Have you, or did you just dream that up?

Iranians are not stupid people. Anyone that thinks they will stop is fooling themselves.
They are down for destroying the world if it means killing all the Jews.
I would call that stupid.

In theory yes. But how many times people get denied entry because of too many visa exempt entries.... ?
Not really. They usually get denied for "spending too much time" visa-exempt in Thailand. Quite some people have reported flying in and out frequently, without any issues as their overall time spent in Thailand is short.

I'm here mostly for my amusement. I know that most posters cannot be taken seriously and I don't really have a problem with that, as long as they don't try to sell me anything.

Companies such as Iberry Group and MEATION GROUP have announced that they won't charge diners who fled during the chaos without paying their bills.
Maybe they realize that their waitstaff and cashiers fled as well and wouldn't even have been there to collect any payments.

Luckily, Thailand isn't a Western country where people can abuse such an event to milk the system for benefits due to imaginary distress.
Seriously, how bad could the mental toll be unless you were near that collapsed construction site? I stayed in a swaying high-rise and I think I'll survive without seeing a shrink.

What are the chances that all of those hastily recruited "volunteer engineers" (the article mentions this term a whopping FOUR times) are adequately qualified and incorruptible?

There's no way Trump, or anyone else, can make America great again. He's a great showman and hyperactive, but I don't think there will be any tangible benefit for the vast majority of Americans. Most of the disruption he causes works in China's favor in any case.

Anyone has a clue up to how many days/weeks/months a "border run" is, i.e. IOs not considering one to overstaying their welcome when returning? Say, if I stayed in Thailand for 8 months, then left for 2, would they roll out the red carpet again?
There's no official rule, so it will be whatever that individual IO or supervisor says.
If you stayed in Thailand for 8 months as a tourist, an airport IO might well consider 2 months out insufficient to be allowed in again.

You are wrong! TrueMoney only works with vendors who accept it. It isn't like a scan to pay by PromptPay with a Thai banking app.
Nonsense. I use the TrueMoney app for PromptPay payments all the time. As I wrote, it can be used for both.
Have a look at the payment categories you can get TrueMoney coins for on the screenshot below. "PromptPay Merchants" is one of them.

So if you are not Thai but reside in Thailand what do you enter in country of residence. Ive looked several times but cannot find Thailand ?
I'll use my passport country for country of residence and my place of birth for city of residence, at least that will be easy to remember for consistency.
And what else could they expect? If you actually reside in Thailand but they don't have Thailand in the list ...

I was giving that as an example there is no diffence between a earthquake and fire drill evacuation there has to be safe areas or there should be !!
I told you exactly what the difference is.
My condo building's assembly area borders neighboring buildings. It would be relatively safe if there's a fire in our building. It wouldn't be safe at all if there's an earthquake, as those neighboring buildings are equally a threat.
There are simply no safe open spaces anywhere near my condo building, and the same is true for many buildings in Central Bangkok I'd imagine.

well looking at the news and photos people dont know how to evacute a building they are all milling aroud the front entrance and sitting on the steps instead of going to a safe area away from the building have you never been in a fire drill !! and that is just a dangerous assumption "People already know how to evacuate buildings" and you need the goverment to mandate this
In fairness, in Central Bangkok it can be pretty difficult to get to a safe area away from ALL buildings. Because that's the main difference between your fire (drill) scenario and an earthquake - just staying away from YOUR building doesn't help.

Yes, I had a look, but why would I fill it in? Not like there's any immediate need or benefit.

OK, I never tried to use true money for Promptpay (I have to try).
But even the TrueWallet App is not easy to use for tourists. Can you put a foreign credit card behind? Or how you recharge money without a Thai-Bank account or Thai credit card? You can top up TrueMoney with cash (Thai baht) at 7-11. There's no fee.
So I think it's superior to Tagthai (what this topic is about), because Tagthai forces you to exchange foreign currency at Kasikorn Bank to top it up. If you prefer to use an exchange like SuperRich or ATM withdrawals, there's no way (yet?) to top up Tagthai with Thai baht.
