Best method to send debit card from US to Thailand
RegularGuy77 replied to gamb00ler's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
My personal recent experience with getting two credit cards from the USA using two methods. One credit card issuer used UPS to ship from US to Thailand. It took 6 weeks to get my card. The other credit card issuer sent my card to my US address and a family member sent it to me via DH: It took 6 days for me to get it. I lived in Up country Esan Provence at the time. -

You can use Ustvgo for free. You just need a vpn to connect to a US server via the vpn. after you connect to the US just google ustvgo. When inside ustvgo they have TV guide. Has all the major channels. -
US Credit Card debt upon death
RegularGuy77 replied to RegularGuy77's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Citi Thailand has never contacted me in Thailand except by email. I have a US address. I do submit FBARs at the beginning of every year. Also do my taxes every year using my Thailand address, but don’t need to report interest. I don’t even know if US Treasury FBAR reports or tax returns are available to US companies. As stated, I can’t recall the last time I carried a CC balance. I am asking as a what if scenario. Lets say I make a purchase for $10,000 and died before I made payment. Would it be worth it to the CC issuer to pursue it in Thailand? Is there a Thailand law statute regarding collection of such foreign debt? -
I would like to know if I had a balance due on my US credit cards, could they make a claim on my Thailand bank assets to pay balance due? I currently have a couple of US credit cards in my name only, one of which is by Citi. I usually do not carry a balance and pay it off monthly. However, if I died, I want my Thai wife to get my assets in Thailand. I have a Thai will that states this. I only have bank assets. So, I assume the probate might take about six months worst case. I know they would go after my US bank account to satisfy my credit card debt. However, would they be successful if they filed a claim in Thailand during Thailand probate or after my Thai wife gets the assets transferred? How would a Thai judge likely rule? Thanks in advance for your input

Medicare enrolment for Thai expats advice
RegularGuy77 replied to sirineou's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Just some additional information about Medicare enrollments for Part B, D, Medigap etc.: Regarding ACA/ Obamacare. If you only have Part A coverage, it is considered that you have minimum essential coverage. This means you can not enroll in any ACA/ Obamacare plans to cover any gap period until your Part B covers you. Medigap plan enrollment window. To avoid medical underwriting where an insurer can’t deny you coverage due to pre-existing conditions etc., you have a 6 month window once Part B start date is effective. For a special enrollment situation, such as a US citizen returning to the US, once you have landed and got your US residential address to provide the insurance carrier, then the 6 month special enrollment window starts. For Part D drug coverage, once you land back in the US you can sign up for Part D with an US address: Your chance to join lasts for 2 full months after the month you move back to the U.S. Below is helpful link form Medicare enrollment windows and special situations: https://www.medicare.gov/Pubs/pdf/11219-understanding-medicare-part-c-d.pdf -

Phone number format from US to Thailand
RegularGuy77 posted a topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
Hello, When someone from the US is trying to call me in Thailand. I get confused by the telephone number I should give them. i know the country code is +66 but the confusion begins with the leading 0 digit in the traditional 3 digit area code. For my number I have 9 digits with the first number being 0. So, do I give the US caller 9 digits or drop the leading 0 and just provide 8 digits? Thanks in advance -
US Medicare options for CNX residents
RegularGuy77 replied to PFV's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
FYI for General Enrollment Period for Part B for those expats with only Part A: If you received Medicare Part A when you first turned 65 years old but did not sign up for Part B. Each year there is a General Enrollment Period. For the year 2022. The enrollment period starts January 1, and ends March 31 2022. The effective date that Part B coverage starts is July 1, 2022. So there is a gap period. -
Where to find a full set of bed sheets
RegularGuy77 replied to ThailandRyan's topic in General Topics
I have the same problem getting the top sheets. However, I used to get Melanni bed sheets when I lived in the US through Amazon. When I moved to Thailand I was able to use Amazon that ships to Thailand to get these hotel quality bed sheets. With shipping and customs it was about $80 USD. They are cool and quick drying. It took about three weeks to get them here. But we’ll worth the wait.
