Yes, there is no such thing but it doesnt stop real estate agents using the term. I explained about freehold and leasehold and explained that its a "made up" real estate term. They "present" a long lease and "imply" it means ownership.

I didnt say there was such a thing as a freehold lease, I explained how real estate agents have made up the term.

I'll say it one more time its a made up real estate term.

If you had even the most basic knowledge of the subject we could debate this further, as you obviously don't, i'll just leave it there.

The term freehold lease doesn't make much sense. Its usually freehold which is outright ownership or leasehold which is renting. I think the term freehold lease is presenting a long lease (10, 20, 30 year) as being as good as, the same as, ownership. Implying that you own the lease and can sell it.

A creative real estate marketing term which basically means "for rent" with maybe a possibility of on-selling the lease. (The lease would need to have a "can be sublet and transferred" clause).

There's no such thing as a freehold lease, the term is freehold and means outright ownership as opposed to leasehold (the clue's in the wording) which means there's a lease with a stipulated number of years involved

  3. I'm not a big fan of shopping malls but out of curiosity i visited Terminal 21 with the wife yesterday, very impressive. Only light traffic on north road and around dolphin circle and parking was easy. Food wise you are spoilt for choice, good quality eateries, especially on the San Fransisco level. Didn't intend spending anything, just a look, but ended up buying a load of clothes for me, it's worth a visit.

  4. In need of a bit advice.

I am a Brit on 3rd year of retirement extension in Thailand. 4 weeks ago i applied to renew my British passport at H.M.P.O. in Bangkok so i am expecting them to contact me anytime now to say the new passport is ready to collect.

My query is this, do i need a form from H.M.P.O. in order to have the stamps transferred from the old passport to new passport? or is it a simple case of going to immigration with both passports and asking them to transfer everything. Someone recently told me that i need a form but they couldn't remember which form.

    Thanks in advance

  5. Never heard of suicide brought on by toothache before, R.I.P. mate.

In the U.K. i would always buy Ibuprofen for pain but it's not available here. While suffering with sciatica here in Thailand recently, i discovered that GOFEN 400, which is available over the counter at virtually all pharmacies is actually ibuprofen 400mg.

Just a tip for any of our expat friends who may require pain relief.

  6. Fantastic news, can't say i was really optimistic all the time though.

One thing i don't understand about the plan now for getting them out, they are talking about 4 months to get them out. 10 years ago i did the PADI course here in Thailand, 4 days to qualify as an open water diver. I know it is a totally different situation, not open water, extremely limited channels to navigate and zero visibility, but 4 months?

I am sure and hopeful that when they start the rescue phase it will go a lot more quickly and smoothly than they are anticipating now, Well done to all the emergency services and everyone else involved, now get those kids back to their families
