I'm planning to leave Thailand for around 7 weeks, Dec - Feb. Been informed that in order to get the Thailand pass to re-enter Thailand i will need to show $50,000 medical insurance valid till the date of my current extension of stay expiry (20th Sep). This is compulsory medical cover for retirees via the back door

Having a licence doesn't mean they have a clue about driving, just means they completed the paperwork correctly and paid the licence fee

I bank with Kasikorn and my daily withdrawal limit is 50,000.
Because Kasikorn ATMs can only dispense 30 banknotes per transaction, if i want 50,000 i have to do 30,000 + 20,000.
In 14 years never had a problem with Kasikorn.

It does matter what your status is here is or what visa or extension it is required for all entries to the country. It has been required since the started allowing entries to the country again last year.
Thanks for that.
I can live here without insurance but if i set foot outside the country i need insurance to get back in.
I'll not be going back to the UK till they knock this scam on the head.
I don't imagine the insurance would be much but......insurance plus 500baht tourist entry fee when i'm not a tourist?
I'm not a poor man but i won't let them take the p$ss out of me to line some minister's pocket

The $50,000 insurance that includes covid 19 insurance would be required for entry to the country and would need to be valid for your length of stay.
Hi ubonjoe, not sure if you understood my query. I have been living in Thailand for 6 years on retirement extension, so if i went to UK for 1 month holiday and then came back to my home in Thailand, i would be classed as a tourist requiring health insurance? That doesn't sound right to me

My question is similar. A UK citizen living in Thailand on extension of stay due to retirement returns to the UK for a holiday. Would they be required to have the $50,000 health insurance in order to return to Thailand?
Thanks in advance

I used to know this but have forgotten (getting old). what is the time period for 90 day reports, is it 7 days early/ 15 days late or 15 days early/7 days late.
Thanks in advance.
One small other thing, i had a dream last night that immigration had changed reporting to 6 monthly, i was so happy this morning till i realised i had dreamt it. Would other retirees here be happy with 6 monthly?

Thai girlfriend or Thai wife it doesn't make any difference concerning UK state pension.
Girlfriend/wife is entitled to nothing after the Brit passes away
Unlike the German state pension where the Thai wife will receive 60% of the total pension for the rest of her life

So when they say vaccinated, are they talking about double or single vaccinated?
My Thai wife has had double AZ but i have only had one to date, does this mean she has to eat alone?

I got my 1st AZ dose on 10th August, today i got a text informing me to attend for my 2nd dose on 19th August, which my missus will obviously call and cancel. I think keeping records would be a good idea

I bought a car very recently from an Aussie mate because he was returning to Oz. I paid him and then we attended the transport office together with all the ID we could muster. Took a while but after a fee of 2,840 baht was handed over, the ownership transfer was completed

How can they say that lockdown has been 20% effective? It's impossible to know that.
Lockdown doesn't work, other countries have proven it.
Been watching live UK football on TV tonight, full stadiums and no masks. The UK can do this because they are almost 100% double vaxed, that's the only thing that does work. Take note Thailand

I bought a Tefal 3 years ago for 1,500 baht and use it almost every day. The wife also uses the dry condiment grinding attachment on it when she's cooking.
Excellent, don't know how we ever managed without one
