Halifax send me mail regularly. They asked me to confirm my address a few times and I did. I could bring all the money to Thailand but the interest here is cr*p.
What documents did you show the Halifax for proof of your address ?
I guessing your address is in the UK ?????

I doubt they check the electoral registers. The bank account I use now, with Halifax, was set up on the back of providing passport details.
Fingers crossed haven't read or heard of Halifax closing any of our account.
Let's hope that continue ????

Imagine my surprise. Last night arrived home to find two bank statements with account balances now at zero and final bank statements showing accounts closed. No prior correspondence before that they were going to close my accounts.
Have to contact them Monday to see where my money is now and how to get it back.
Which bank ?

Any of you guys accessing the site within Thailand via using Surfshark VPN ??
I know technically I could turn it on whilst still in the UK and if it runs (it does) then it "should" run within Thailand
Experience with other VPN's within Thailand down the years have been hit and miss and cant be relied upon
Yip, I used Surfshark for the passed 5 years.
Set my location to Edinburgh, watch BBC, ITV, etc no problems

OK many thanks. Will get into that.
How would I get an internet bill translated ?? I've never had to do anything like that before
Ask your Thai Bank to print you a statement with your name, Thai address in English language.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/507424/uk-thailand-dtc180281_-_in_force.pdf This is the double taxation treaty.
1) "Interest ... may be taxed in that other state", i.e. Thailand. That's the case for most European countries.
2) But if you season your interest income in your UK bank acount and transfer it in the next calendar year, it would not be taxable in TH. https://taxsummaries.pwc.com/thailand/individual/taxes-on-personal-income
The new decree may mean that the TH revenue office will try to verify that you have not transferred current-year interest but only past-year interest income.
Sounds strange forward !!!!.

UK resident.
I'm 57 years of age non taxpayer (Personal Allowance of £12,570 before paying any tax) I live off my interest on my ISAs accounts and interest off saving bonds back in the UK..
because I don't pay any tax back in the UK because I'm below the tax threshold, does this mean i will have to pay tax here in Thailand.
I'm have a non O imm based on married visa

I've been going to Rutnin for almost 30 years. As long as you tell them you want to update your eyeglass prescription, they'll give you the appropriate exam - I believe it's listed as "refraction" on the ticket. (Rutnin has a kind of "stations of the cross" process where you go from room to room where individual specialists do each test.)
I had an appointment with my retinal doctor at Rutnin a couple of months ago, and asked to add the refraction exam. The guy was very thorough as usual, and the PD was included on the prescription. Note that they don't hand you the prescription; after everything is done and you've paid the bill, you have to go to the optical shop on the ground floor and have them print it out for you. Strange, but not difficult.
After getting the new prescription (only a slight difference from the previous one), I ordered from Zenni for the first time. With every bell and whistle added, they came to about $250, which is still less than I used to pay in Thailand for poorer quality lenses. (The Zenni glasses aren't as good as the ones I got in Korea ten years ago, but those cost over $800...)
Shipping took two weeks. At the end of week one, I got an email telling me the glasses had arrived in Singapore (!). A week later, they arrived in Thailand and were delivered the next day in a mailer showing a return address of Malmo, Sweden (!). No duty or tax was charged.
What did your above eye examination cost please ?

You are better off seeing an opthalmologist at a hospital or clinic and getting an overall eye exam inclusive of, but nto limited to, vision tests. This would also help rule out any other problems that may be affecting your vision (cataracts, glaucoma etc)
Can you recommend a eye hospital or clinic to have a eye examination in the Bangkok area please ?

I think you'll find that unless you have a UK address linked to your Bank account. There is no obligation for UK banks to keep your account open.
Even then I received a letter from my bank, saying they were aware I was living in Thailand and asking for my tax details here in Thailand. If I was not able to provide those details they would have closed my account.
Which bank was that

I read somewhere on here in the past.
The day you get divorced, you non imm O visa based on marriage will no longer be valid. Basically you be on overstay once your divorce is finalized.
Maybe Thai immigration wil give you 7 days for you to get sorted and swap onto a different visa.
