  1. Not exactly on topic but when I call from the USA to Thailand I have been using a calling card called " Chicagoland"

It cost $5.00 U.S. for 3 hours and 20 minutes. Does anybody use anything different that might be more bang for the buck. I think 3 hours and 20 minutes for $5 bills is pretty good deal but I am curious if there is a better deal out there.

    thanks

    PKG

    Padkapow Guy,

Where did you get that card? Is the 3 hours 20 mins for $5 if you are calling a land line or is it if you are calling a cell phone?

//Edit: Off topic. This topic is not about calling cards.

  2. Hi all, I am trying to call a 10 digit cell phone in bangkok, from the usa. I tryed 01166 and then the # but it doesn't work. I tryed 01166 (2) then last 7 digits and get a wrong # in thailand. I call Udon cell# with 0116 and 10 digits and it works. tryed 0116 and 10 digits to bangkok# and it doesnt work. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks Chris.

Yep almost have it right...As BambinA said, you need to include the "8" now.

  3. I heard that in order to feel the psychoactive effect of the wormwood, you would need to drink quite a bit...in other words you would be passed out from the effects of the alcohol before you would feel any effects of the thujone.

  4. Isn't the tour of the jewelry and tailor shops all a part of the tourist experience? :o Seriously though...before you go anywhere with anyone, let them know exactly where you want to go or you could end up taking a number of detours. The canal trip was a good time. Make sure to take them to the numerous temples as you mentioned.

  5. Ijustwannateach: finally someone who doesn't expose (pseudo-)medical knowledge but just talks sense. Why on earth would one with a problem that might be / might be not serious not see a doctor immediately but rather listen to advise from people who (all meaning very good) didn't see, examine, investigate the patient, weren't able to take a history, ...

I don't think anyone on this board seriously considers their posted advice as an excuse for someone not to go to a doctor.

  6. Thank you for the replies.

Yes, overall I don't think the process is that difficult. I've been on the website visajourney. I guess what I am worried about is that I really want to get the process started, but I know my state of residence and employer is going to change. I don't know if that is going to hinder the application later on.

  7. I usually run 5 miles twice a week (M and W) then I lift weights Sun, Tues and Thurs. Don't know my max bench....I usually go for most reps I can do in a set. I'm not very bulked up so it's usually only around 175-180lbs. I also do leg extensions and curls as well as bicep curls. My work out times usually run 45 mins to an hour.

  8. Thanks for the smart comment. It specifically says in the listed items that are prohibited NOTHING about alcohol. A small blurbwithin a large paragraph stating it's prohibited as a gift. "Mayhap" if you don't have something constructive to add, you shouldn't.

  9. Just wondering if anyone has used an attorney for completing the K1 visa. I believe many just do this on their own and I probably would too but I've got a fear I will forget something which could mess things up.

I'm also in the process of taking a new job in a different state so I'm not sure if that will hinder the process either.

  10. I was thinking of sending a friend some different specialty beers from my state. I checked the FedEx website for prohibited imports but didn't see anything specific to this...except under "Gifts" it says that gift shipments of alcohol are prohibited. I'm not sure why they would say gifts of alcohol are prohibited yet the prohibited list of imports says nothing regarding alcohol.

  11. Our cat had kitten the other week.

Now our maid insisted on sun-drying one of the placentas because they bring good luck. Needless to say that Mrs. raro was convinced immediately and so the sun dried placenta ended up in the glove compartment of the car.

Yesterday morning I backed up to make a U-turn and crashed with a power pole...the right tail light is broken.

Is the glove compartment the wrong place to store sun-dried cat placentas? Is there something wrong with the placenta? Anything we might have forgotten?

    Please advise, thanks!

David beckham ate one of his kids, .seems to have had a lot of luck dosent he !

I know of a few familes that have done that. They were the tree-hugger types. Not sure how lucky they were. Perhaps it is just feline placenta.

  12. I have only ever tried it once, it went down and came straight back up again. To me it tasted like garlicky, sweet cheesy stuff. I think it is an acquired taste, not one that I will persevere in acquiring apart from the taste it was the texture I didn't like.

I do think that there are issues with the amount of cholesterol in it. Maybe someone more knowledgable than me knows for sure.

No cholesterol in it, but it may have a certain amount of fat (probably similar to an avocado). I first tried the durian candy...it was terrible. It tasted just like rotten onion and garlic. Not that I've ever had either, but you know what I mean.

When I got the chance to try the real stuff, I was reluctant. Tried it anyway. I like it, especially in comparison to the candy.

  13. I like it OK, but don't love it.

Wow, you are a first! I have always thought that with durian there is no "so la la, just okay". It's either "Never" or "Cannot get enough"

For me: Cannot understand people complaining about the heat. After all: it's DURIAN season! (and mangoes! and mangosteen! .... ) Paradise!

@dash: I do my own frozen durian for lean times (or when it is so expensive that even I think twice before buying it) yummie

Do they still taste the same? Most fruit I've tasted frozen just don't taste good.

  14. I think most of the rings are 23K. The one I bought cost me a little over $100 US. It's just a plain band...nothing fancy. Bought it at Rajinee Jewelry. Never did any bargaining...maybe next time I'll try that.

  15. Is this just a Thai thing? I've never heard of this before. Are they actually glued on to the teeth like the real ones?

I had the real ones when I was a teenager and they weren't a fashion statement back then. They were a PITA...hurt when the orthodontist tightened the wires, cut the inside of my mouth more times than I can remember.
