It's time to forget about Sinovac and vaccinate the masses with the alternatives that do offer some sort of protection.
This allows the Thais and Chinese to save face.
They will say that each vaccine helps the other (read: Sinovac is useful).

It's certainly the most available vaccine to a government who failed to get in queue for the others early on.
But I suspect this is the real reason. Huge sums transferred into the off shore bank accounts of corrupt government officials with every Sinovac order.
I agree in part. But, I think it's even bigger than that. China would likely be persuading Thais to buy the Chinese vaccines using massive economic coercion like
Threats that if the Thais refuse the Chinese vaccines, China will not allow its tourists to return to Thailand when the pandemic is over. I'd bet this is the biggest lever the Chinese will use on the Thais.

So the world cannot see the true low numbers of testing and extrapolate from this that numbers must be under-reported and hence much higher. What many on here have been saying since the very early stages last year.
There was also an article in Nikkei suggesting many hospitals stopped testing as they were running out of beds anyway.
Anyone who doesn't understand that Thailand is not testing enough is either daft or has an agenda, or maybe both.

It's perplexing that any non-Chinese (non-Taiwanese) person would even consider taking a Chinese vaccine given the pervasive scandals. Not to mention that they deliberately started this whole pandemic.
I would not be surprised to learn that their export vaccines to certain countries were either deliberately watered. Or worse.
This IS China we're talking about after all. Crazy anyone would trust them. Shows just how gullible most of humanity is.
To add: a country that would deliberately spread a pandemic, hoard PPE and research genetic bio warfare is not so different from one that might use its vaccines to deliberately infect people or trick them into thinking they've received some level of protection.
People better wake up.

Thailand 3rd from bottom:
Can you locate Thailand near the bottom of Nikkei's #COVID19 Recovery Index? Well done Prayut. You make Thailand infamous again, not to mention all the deaths, suffering and destitution

The Thais will find this unbearably embarrassing. A gargantuan loss of face on the national level

It was ALWAYS an idiotic idea for dozens of reasons an average 10 year old in a developed country can understand.
Perhaps the most obvious is that there is no sandbox with a virus like this unless they were testing Phuket like a BSL4 Bio lab.
Such strange people. Without the ability to think at all.

There are other successful situations.
The UK is still a big mess.
The US? 605,000 deaths and some shops open, hardly a good result.
To add:
China estimated 10+ million (hidden) deaths, junk vaccines
UK working vaccine produced
US working vaccine produced, tens of millions of vaccines donated, hundreds of millions of critical care equipment donated
Not the best possible results but better than virtually all others

Talk about wriggling.
all that concern about anticipated rising cases, so many proposed restrictions, but NO mention of the sandbox scheme.
I know most cases have come from locals traveling to Phuket from other provinces. But the messaging is important.
On the one hand, open up, welcome overseas visitors, help them have a good time, enjoy yourselves.
on the other, rising cases including the worst of the variants, anticipated further rises, restrictions, be careful, don’t mix.
they really do need to get their act together and tell TAT to take a back seat because there is a health emergency going on that needs sole focus.
They can't help it. Unlike some of their neighbors, a huge part of the national/cultural strategy is
Us v. Them
Thais and Outsiders
At the same time, they shamefully rely on foreigners directly (tourism) for a HUGE 30% of their national GDP. It's a massive, always lingering embarrassment for them.

This is really disgusting.
I do shop on that site a lot (in fact, I am a platinum member... oh how hiso), but the commercial website being used to sell a vaccine. Just imagine this being offered on Amazon or eBay. It does make it worse that this is not a Thai company.
It's disgusting, agree. But, more than that it shows how perfectly disorganized the Thais are. Of course, any honest person living here would admit disorganization is a national characteristic here.

What a joke of a country. This is a common Thai routine. The pooyai pretend to care for 5 mins by telling the uneducated public
"we are temporarily stealing from you less"

Is it my imagination or have most of the people at the top of the food chain suddenly gone to ground? A lot of official silence, it seems.
We're going to get to see REAL Thai culture play out. In the coming national crisis, the "bigger", more important people in Thai society will be saved first. There is no equity in Thai culture. Pooyai first, rest of Thai 2nd, foreigners last.

The virus LOVES this! Perfect vector for massive clusters to form and spread.

Via Shopee. So hilarious when considered against the idiots (sorry) who believed the propaganda that Thailand was managing all this better than almost any other countries.
Still the same nationally disorganized, incapable of foresight people we have always known.

With the way the Thai government typically runs these kinds of things, there's always a couple of pertinent questions to consider before heading out....
1. Will the testing sites mentioned even be open to foreigners?
2. Will the sites have such low daily testing capacity to end up regularly turning away many who travel there.
Or have such low testing capacity and no digital systems management that they lead to thousands of people waiting in queues for hours with amongst some percentage of people who probably ARE infected, further infecting others.

Lets all hope the new semi lockdowns that are now coming into effect do something to flatten the curve. They should certainly help to do that but my fear is that Thailand is now stuck in a dark tunnel and has a long way to go yet.
Keep safe everyone and RIP to the increasing number of those dying each day from covid.
Covid deaths are now more than double those of road accidents each day.
Rolling 7 day average (up to 8th July only) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases.
Hi, my friend. I am sadly very doubtful that the miniscule, rubber ducky measures will have any meaningful impact at all.
Virtually every country with this level of transmission has gone into months' long genuine, enforced lockdowns or highly restricted movement.
Unless the Thais do similar, they are looking at India style breakdown.

Another heartbreaking video of people lining up to get tested for Covid-19. Desperate times for many here in the capital.

Excellent way to contract the virus standing in long queues for lengthy periods. Also, likely that people who contract the virus while in those queues will test negative but several days later be spreaders.
Totally out of control

Yes, the font is also terrible. Very difficult to read. Seems the folks making these decisions are all rank amateurs.
