Just when you thought the process for foreigners in Thailand to register for a COVID-19 vaccine online could not get any more shambolic, the website used for registrations was abruptly taken offline on Monday due a purported data breach.
More in thousands of examples of this world class Thai response so many posters keep telling us about

No, notwithstanding the fact you have no evidence the vaccine is the culprit, the Chinese vaccines are STILL worse.

You can only relax when the numbers are close to zero, as with China for instance.
I, too, believe the reporting of the country whose incessant lies and known lack of transparency got the world into this catastrophic mess.
In fact, I trust everything out of China ????????????

This has State-backed scam written all over it.
If it's Chinese, they will benefit as they are more clever and ruthless than their Thai cousins.
If Farang, there will be many men with stories in the forums in a few years of how their properties were stolen from them.

Yes so easy to be generous when 10 nations have stockpiled more than 80% of all the worlds covid vaccines. Throwing a dog a bone is so exemplary
I'm not sure how to respond to this. It's silly.

Yeah, the Thais generally dislike facial hair. Facial hair is reserved for villains. I also learned the hard way

Very confusing article, which if meant to allay fears, has done the opposite.
All had the vaccine, which one?
And they all died.
Maybe they shouldn't have been vaccinated?
The English language articles are not intended to do anything other than employ a couple Thais who can barely put together English sentences.
Thailand does not care about informing non-Thais unless there is some obvious benefit.
The Thai language media articles are the ones that count, and then Thais hardly read, so....

This is one of those rare cases where I understand the Thai reluctance to allow foreigner land ownership.
Particularly as they have China in their backyard.
Wealthy Chinese criminals and legitimate wealthy Chinese will buy Thailand dry. In a single generation.
It's a bad move to be too liberal with land ownership and it's something many Western countries don't understand
The Thais should control it and monitor it religiously

They are salivating no doubt at the announcement of Uncle Sam giving away 300 million doses of quality vaccine.
Despite their pride, they seem all too happy to let the Farang bail them out everytime
Shameful

This hazing is heavy in Asia where it is used to reinforce the most important sociocultural concept - hierarchy. It will not stop. They are predisposed to it.

Clarification? Does anyone know how farang can freehold land in Thailand now? What needs clarified? Under what circumstances can foreigners own land now? I thought it was a non-starter now. (I'm not talking about owning a company that owns land.).
As this is Thailand, what this is really means is thus
Thailand (like China and some other countries in the region) has laws that are purposefully ambiguous. This allows for the powerful to exploit them when convenient.
What they mean by calling for clarification is some new law or revised law that is purposefully ambiguous, luring foreigners to the buy land that can be slowly stolen from them when the economy is stronger.
It's all a game - and the Thais never lose.

Similar population to the UK but only about 1% of the deaths from this strain compared to the UK which has the advantage of being an island.
No deaths would be ideal, but 43 isn't too bad compared to the worst day in the UK which was 1,800 plus which is worse than the total for the entire time in Thailand. The vast majority of Thais who have succumb were old or overweight.
Let's hope they keep the numbers low and have success with the vaccine roll out and things can start getting back to relatively normal again.
I have some investments you may be interested in. Guaranteed 20% or higher returns. I have charts to prove it. Let me know if interested

Thai logic often confounds me.
This is one of those times.
I've come to the conclusion that there is no logic here. Neither is there any ability to plan, foresee obstacles, introspect after issues or generally improve in any serious way.
The entirety of Thai national characteristic is a lightly guided free-for-all.
It is why Thailand is simultaneously so fun to live in and so dangerous to rely on for anything important.

More world-class Covidhho (is that the new Thai spelling?) response.
Somehow the Thais went from almost best in the world to absolute buffoonish laugh of the world.
Amazing

I mean, honestly, there are fewer ideas funnier than Chinese societies (of which I consider Thailand one) pretending to care about common people.
Look at what the Chinese are doing with their Vaccine Diplomacy and holding the world hostage.
Why doesn't Thailand and the rest of the poverty stricken, low intellectual capital Asian countries call for China to give its vaccines for free?

COVID has already created 9 new billionaires.
As it should have. Agree. Business is business. The mRNA tech has been in development for decades.
Billions of dollars of research and all the related hard work of facilitating this work like maintaining intellectual property rights, attracting the best minds, schools, attracting smart foreigners to the west by not, for example, perpetuating national xenophobia...
These are some of the costs of developing world class economies that can do what has been done here.
That is not free.

I see their strategy here. Strong likelihood they will simply lie and start pushing propaganda that certain areas of Thailand are highly or fully vaccinated and that it somehow should be reassuring -- which is absurd as populations mix in the country.
Once again, Thais being devious instead of doing the right thing and focusing on getting the job done well.
-
This is a deeply idiotic movement, started by the western liberal progressives in the EU, US and WHO and others. We should shut down this nonsense at the source.
The biggest and most obvious problem with this idea is that pharma companies will never again come the world's aid -- when China releases the next wave of viruses on the world -- because it will not be commercially feasible.
Of course the Asians (Thais, included) will push for freebies because they are experts at exploiting western economic openess.
Knowing Thailand, they will get the vaccines free from Pfizer and Moderna and AZ and STILL charge Farang in Thailand triple what they charge Thais.

New big outbreaks all over the country, but no doubt that magic 2.5K reported cases will remain stable.
Magical Thailand
-
@connda agree with some of what you say above ????
One factor nobody seems brave enough to talk about is that there could very well be more of these viruses leaking (deliberately or not) from certain countries (or one in particular) with increasing frequency.
China has at least tens of thousands of dangerous pathogens... And a military that is actively experimenting with them. This is not disputed.
