Why not? It sounds as though he is married to a Thai lady so he probably has no choice but to maintain ties. This forum is filled with people moaning about Thailand or other so I guess the better question is, if it bothers you why do you participate in the forum?
i think the hotel is what people suspect, it is just a money spinner, if they have government quarrantine anyway why else would it be an option? Because they care about the foreigners?
You are right, I have a Thai wife and we have a kid. I went to the usual "I love Thailand" -phase as we all, then sobered up when I saw the reality. If I was a single man, I might still come to Thailand but otherwise I would opt for perhaps Spain or Portugal. I would not change my Thai wife though, once you learn how they think, you can have a wonderful marriage ????

It sounds wonderful there.
One question though, why are you posting on here if you are so happy and loathe Thailand so much?
I still have a Thai family and have to come back to Thailand with them.

Hahhah, how convinient the 14 day quarantine. No thank you, Thailand. I have been in Northern Europe for the last 3 months, and I am so happy not to be in Thailand anymore. With my wife in kid here, I don't need the dirty, hormone infested meat, plastic contaminated seafood or the PM 2.5 that Thailand has to offer. Neither do I need the special price for you 'farang', or the long flights to a country with grumpy, hostile immigration officers, or sitting in a lethal taxi or the AoT service to my condo driven by some lunatic. I'm so happy not to be in Thailand, so I will opt out thank you. When the weather turns cold in October, I'll be there again with my family to breathe the fresh PM 2.5 air and enjoy the barking of the soi dogs. Because my wife wants so. Meanwhile I drive to Nordkapp to the fresh Barents Sea, even the icy water is nicer to see than the plastic infested ocean in Thailand.
But seriously, I cannot think of a single reason to come to Thailand during summer time! Life is so calm, orderly here, and the air is fresh, with only a handful of grumpy old people venting about the Wuhan Virus. Face masks? Deemed useless by scientific tests, based by non-bribed laboratories, but there I have to wear them.

Absolutely, imagine having to go out and actually do shopping. I am pleased for you that you don't have to suffer that ghastly ordeal.
Thank you. Almost makes me cry to encounter a fellow man who has gone through the nightmare of endless shopping malls and wasting precious time at yet another Thai market to eat yet another Thai dish tasting the same.. Women should have a lot of friends to go shopping and eating with. In the end, the wife does not even buy anything because "it would be a waste of money." What about waste of time? ????

"Tears and heartbreak as flight ban keeps farang-Thai families apart"
The tears will only happen if the white guy stops sending money!
Haha, asked my wife 10 times if she needs money during the previous three months. "No". And as I cannot fly to the Land Of Silliness, she is now flying to me. "Do you need me to pay your tickets?" I ask her. "No."
Luckily she has to be in isolation in my country for two weeks, so no need to go shopping or any other BS when she arrives here ????
Her parents also decline to take any money ????
After three months, I don't miss coming to Thailand anymore. I only travel there due to my family. Life here in Northern Europe is so much better than in Thailand I have to say, after spending 7 years 50/50 in Thailand.

Same as before. There are no restrictions.
Thank you. If the opposite happened, I would expect there to be reports about it here on Thaivisa. I have quite many flight tickets waiting for refunding, and it is getting annoying investing yet another 1500 .. 2000 € for tickets that get canceled last minute.

I'm asking this for the second time now just because I'm a little worried (asked a month ago already once), but is there any limitation to Thai citizens (read: Thai wife + kids) to fly out of Thailand? Arranging flight tickets for my family tomorrow, and @ubonjoe you already told me a month ago that no such limitation exists back then. Any new information on this subject?

only totally stupid idioty fly to europe now, thailand have lot lot better country stay and lot safety than any europe country now corona virus. problem. all asian have better than idiot western countries. finland and sweden have worst country go now, finland hqas fail all safe citicens, sweden no safe sweden think need corona come ewery people and then looking who live or not. finland lot same goverment no matter how many citicen die no want do anythink ,new PM have idiot woman.
I understand you don't like the Finnish prime minister, who is a young woman. But if you had no fixation on the word 'idiot' you would perhaps discover that the infection rate is very low in the Nordic countries such as Norway, Denmark and Finland. And if something happens, you are much safer there than in some random hospital in Thailand. Less tabloids, more information.

Oh well, they are whitelisting the Chinese, and STILL NO allowing of foreign family members to return to Thailand. You know what, Anutin? Ah I better not say it.
So I called my embassy today and told them my family members need a visa to come to my country in the Schengen area. Borders are officially shut.
"Family member? But of course we issue a visa for your wife. Please come to the embassy directly."
Thailand? Does not even allow its own citizens to return. What a f u country! After this Hysteria of a "Pandemic" is over, and prices stabilize, I'm going to sell my condo and just rent one in Thailand. My way of minimizing risks in a racist country waiting for the next coup to happen. (I won't call this the last nail on the coffin as there are so many already :D )

Ah ok I meant that immigration is still allowed for foreigners in the EU, not how boring Sanookland may now be ???? Sorry my misunderstanding.

There is no restrictions for leaving the country for anybody if they can get a flight out and are allowed to enter the country where they are traveling to.
The mother of a Thai child does not need permission to take their child out of the country.
Thanks, have to ask my wife about that. She was convinced she needs the paper from the Amphur like "last time."

farangland in lockdown. Boring as. Thailand may open up in May. Farangland will take longer.
Incorrect. In the EU most countries allow "repatriation" of foreigners who are spouses of natives. E.g. Lufthansa, Qatar still fly to my and neighboring countries. People think the airports are locked and no one is coming in, which is wrong,
-
If you cannot travel to your family in Thailand, how about the other way? If a Thai spouse has the valid paperwork for Farangland, are they allowed to fly out to Farangland? My country allows spouses / family to travel to my country in order to unite family. If you have a Thai child, you need to get a permission from Amphur (fake knowledge or true?) to travel out + the IOs often ask sketchy questions to Thai women flying out.

Oh boy am I happy not to be in Thailand now. Imagining staying in a condominium all the time, in that heat, no swimming, no nothing. Just working online.
Instead I'm in safe Northern Europe, weather is great, spring is coming. The health care is functional, there is no panic, no curfews, no military rule and people are relaxed. Covid cases declining. It looks better by the day for Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany.
I have tickets to Thailand on the 1st of May though. Business to and back Bkk cost 1500 € when I purchased the tickets 2 weeks ago, now the same route costs 6500 € in business (!), Qatar. Economy around 1600 €. Ridiculous.
Why I'm coming back? Picking up my family to return to safe Northern Europe. Fresh air, healthy food, big garden, lots of things to do. Stay here over the summer then maybe back to Thailand. But as many stated, the fear is what happens to the Thai economy, and whether that means an increase in racism, corruption, visa "issues" etc. Let's see. The baht will take a bath :D

Always use Grab. I used it yesterday and paid the ride in advance with my credit card. No need to give any tips, rounding up the total, all paid for ????

So the underemployed are doing maintenance? Will this result in an increase in reliability on the boats?
In the event of the tourist hoards returning, will the operators of these vessels be more discerning in their employment of potential staff? Or will a strong back and a heartbeat be the main qualification?
This is normal practice here in Thailand. As I learn from a fake news outlet, THAI Airways now started to lay off air crew and have hand picked those with a driving license / experience with a combustion engine, to be assisting the maintenance crew to do the annual service for the new A350s.

Tattoos in Thailand are part of the cultural and religious heritage of the country. Many of the tattoo here are religious inscriptions thought to bring good luck and protection. So it shouldn't be too surprising that more regular tattoo have become part of fashion here.
I personally think well done tattoos that have some thought behind them look good. However like yourself I also think that there are a lot of tattoos that look awful. But each to his own.
Yet, if you date a Thai girl from a good family, their parents and relatives always comment "good, he has no tattoos", tattoos are for the labor class. Pretty same as in the West, where middle class people have significantly less tattoos than the labor class.

Hi, has anyone else noticed how the Aot Limo service at Swampy has become worse? The ride quality is becoming more and more like Bkk taxi => racing and being unpolite. I did not tip the driver and on the aot limo site you can now send complaints of the service, along with the ride receipt Id. I don't think anyone reads them but makes you feel better.
On the positive side: Today Swampy was totally empty, no queues at immigration, and the airport was deserted at 7 AM ???? Even BKK traffic seems more quiet. I love it ????

When I was selecting a kindergarden for my kid, we first visited a kindergarden with 'native English' speaking teachers from the UK. They did not even try to speak the international version of English but sounded like merry sailors or drunken Irish. Went to another kindergarden where the teacher spoke perfect English - she is a Filipina, and chose it. But yes I prefer 'American' over the UK version of 'Pirates of the Caribbean English'

It's a record breaking day! Yesterday I flew out of Swampy and after getting my ticket from the CI counter, I rushed to Security Check => Where there usually is a queue at 6:15 AM, there was none this time. I just walked straight through. Security did not notice my full water bottle btw, again, but no surprise here, happy bombing for the terrorists.. Anyway, rushed onward to Immigration, and => Nothing. A quque of 3 people. Everyone is stamped out with a maximum time taken about 45 seconds per person, NEXT! They did not check my Non-O, or anything, just stamp out, fingerprint quick please, smiling photo. No tough smile, no angry tomboys, just professional staff doing their jobs quickly. Nice ???? Coronavirus panic I guess. Ah, happy to get out, fresh air .. enjoy the particle dome back there ????

I think the visit so Suvarnabhumi was also to inspect the readiness of the airport to serve to the huge REVERSE border run once the "guests" realize that the only country left keeping the border open to the Chinese is Thailand. After all, Malaysia, Philippines, .. even North Korea (!) are taking up measures. I have 4 more days to my departure back to safety :D

I think we need to rethink the "BORDER RUN" topics, I think the direction changes now, and it's a RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, the Chinese are here and the Thai Arm.. Government is taking care of the problem.
Luckily I have an outward ticket in 5 days .. maybe wear the face mask for the first time ever at Suvarnabhumi, and look panicked in the vincinity of Chinese tour groups.

Correct. We would think 'the stupid Thais and their stupid rules again', and do as we please because we believe in superior western education. But it's their country, so it's their rules. And even in my own country, the simple people react like the Thai simple people - xenophopia and fear over trivial issues.
