I have never ran a restaurant but this is a significant dent into your profit margin - times must be hard. Has anyone seen any other promotions like this ?

the last couple of years I see a proliferation of Visa agents setting up shop. There has either been a latent demand burgeoning or a fast buck to be earned here. The qualification of some agents seems to be they have successfully submitted their gf's visa in the first place, hence they know all about visa's. Another one i've seen advertising is situated near the Immigration Office thereby appearing to give it a badge of respectibility. Other one's advertise 100% success rate, which seems an oxymoron when the granting of the Visa is decided by the Consulate alone.

in my case, the processing official at the front desk on the first wanted a medical certificate, but returned the copies of the IDL

I've heard a couple of stories of Visa companies charging over a 100,000 etc i wondered if these were extreme cases, or is this the norm ?

I'm curious what experience's other board members have had with charges made by Visa companies to obtain visa's for their thai partners ? Some companies seem to insinuate they can virtually guarantee obtaining you a visa irrespective of your circumstances. From what I understand they do nothing that you can't do yourself by downloading the forms, and researching this forum and others.

You could take time out and get a degree ! might be useful as well as for teaching English

Eat at Ahaar Indian restaurant last night - first time.

Despite a few successful takeaways from them via Door to Door last nights meal was poor - quality of meat suspect, no spicy papadums, and huge projection screen broadcasting Indian soaps !!

Applied successfully on Monday morning for new Car & Motorcycle 5 year driving licences.

Much information is documented about this, but would like to add the following points.

Medical cert - you need one, photocopy it and sign the second

Passport - many farang in the queue had copied the entry stamp, but not the original 1 year visa stamp

International Driving Licence & UK photocard - take the originals with you, but signed photocopies i took with me were returned to me, unneeded

once they confirmed paperwork was in order, no additional tests were needed, sit for a digital photo, and 960 baht lighter walked away with 2 five year licences.

I arrived 9-30 but there was already a long queue, and NO AIR CONDITIONING in the building.

I did one last week at Pattaya International Hospital in soi 4, a whopping 600 baht to find out my blood pressure !!

What about Raimon the Loft at Yen Arkat? You think the property value may drop? It is in a very small Soi, not exactly near Sathorn or Rama 4.

I think the new Central Festival is a positive addition to the town. Okay everything is a little bit more expensive, but someone's got to pay for the Mall. My main concern is now the traffic on Second Road is horrendous, but i don't se they have many practical fixes for this.

I keep reading the Property Developers state that in the abscence of foreign buyers they are targeting local buyers. Why didn't they target these in the first place ? No 49% rule !! Do they think the economic recession is not affecting thai's as well !!

Raimonland always ran slick marketing campaigns, and actually built a decent product too. But I can't help feel with Lofts Southshore they have made a boo-boo because of the poor location, not their normal beach side one.

I went to the launch last year, and a few units had been pre-sold, but mostly to Raimonland staff including the former chief executive !

For my two cents, I think its a great read, makes me laugh everytime. It's a satirical comment on life in Pattaya and not a serious read - lighten up !!!

this is just cosmetic tinkering again with no substance, addressing none of the real problems here in Thailand such as the strong baht, property ownership etc
