  1. I'm normally a fan of the Pig & Whistle on Soi 7, but today had the Beef & Kidney homemade pie, it didn't look homemade and was completely devoid of any taste. A very poor effort.

Yesterday I had breakfast at Greg's restaurant, reliable but expensive. I almost drove past he restaurant he has changed the sign outside from a white one to a yellow one. Someone in the restaurant is always tinkering with things !!

  2. Violated is a strong word. Lot of landlords want to check their condo/house as tenancy expires, but not sneak inside behind the tenant's back.

Most landlords accept that tenants may domestically clean their apartment themselves, others will insist it is professionally cleaned by a third party. If i was moving in afterwards, i would like to think that it has been independantly cleaned.

Rental agreements go a long way to avoiding these types of issue's by dealing with landlord's access rights, and tenant's obligations at end of lease.

  3. Songkran is a lot of fun or a living week long nightmare, depending on whether your new clothes, phone, money etc are all soaking wet. I know several people will be leaving Thailand for a few days, or just staying indoors.

  4. I only made a permanent move over after i had enough investments to comfortably retire. Living here on a limited budget didn't appeal, I had more fun coming here on holiday as a 2 week millionaire. But the decision is a personal one, no right or wrong here. Lifestyle choice i guess !

  5. Her thinking was more than likely that since you are paying for the room, youv'e paid for the toiletries too and therefore they belong to you/her!! :o

Surely by paying for the room you HAVE paid for the toiletries. Why are they they there?

the amenities provided in the bathroom are to be used by guests as part of the use of the room, not as replacement bathroom kit for the home or extended family !!

I see a lot of hotel towels now etc are clearly branded with the hotel's name in case they are "inadvertantly" appropriated.

  6. Don't know how the above ended up on this thread. Thought I was replying to the Ko Larn Island thread... :o

Chopper from your Avatar it doesn't look like your the kind of guy that would spend much time lying on beaches :D

  7. I see these scenario's posed a lot of times. My thinking is that if i can't afford to retire in my home home country, or have enough liquid funds to return and start again, it is unlikely but not impossible you are going to have a successful life in Thailand. Referring to UK in particular it is very hard to get back into the property market once you exit. Even if prices are falling, there are transaction costs of buying a new home, and credit application issues if you need a mortgage to help. But good luck to OP whatever he decides.

  8. I saw these headlines this morning too and thought they were misleading. Don't sense any bias, just not much thought gone into the headline planning. Glad there's not 5 shootings everyday in Pattaya, becoming the Wild West !

  9. Last week spent a couple of nights at Maneechan Resort on the outskirts of Chanthaburi, a couple of hours from Pattaya. Every morning I went into the bathroom and all the toiletries have been stripped out, EVERYTHING. When interrogated why, stock reponse "I give to my family". Is this normal ? Are thai's hoarders ? kleptomaniac's ? On the last morning I put my foot down otherwise the earthenware ashtray would have gone walkabout as well.

  10. walked past hel_l Club a couple of hours ago, it was shut, sign pinned up saying closed for renovations :o opening on 21st March again

looks like ladies have enjoyed a few extra days holiday this year :D

  11. 42 people arrested following raid on Insomnia Club on Walking Street.

Insomnia Club located on Walking Street is a popular late night venue but in the early hours of Saturday Morning they received some unwelcomed visitors, namely a team of Police Officers from Chonburi Provincial Police led by Police Colonel Tirapong, the Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police. A group of Pattaya Police Officers were also in attendance to assist in the operation. The raid took place at 5.30am and there were approximately 500 patrons inside at the time. All were checked for the presence of narcotics in their systems via urine checks and 40 patrons, 34 women and 6 men failed the test and were subsequently arrested and charged with consuming class 1 drugs. Two men accused of supplying class 1 drugs were also arrested at the scene. The manager of the venue was also arrested and a report will now be sent to the Banglamung District Licensing Officer who must also consider the fact that the club was open well after its permitted time.

Not surprised by this ! I tend to be in bed asleep by the time this club gets busy, suspect they will be coughing up extra tea-money for a while
