Sinovac Vaccine Restores a Brazilian City to Near Normal

Another place in Brazil has a similar vaccination plan, with locally produced AZ vaccines. There's every reason to expect great results there too.

It's not the "nationality" of the vaccine that counts. Getting more people vaccinated, according to protocol, and reaching herd immunity is an important step to re-opening and economic recovery.

So it went from 50.4 % in clinical trials to 94% . Sounds like Chinese propaganda to me. Send us your independent sources

That commonly quoted 51% / 100% result is from a Phase 3 study in Brazil. The test subjects were (at least 9000 out of 13000) front line medical workers, which put them in high exposure environments. 51% refers to the rate of protection from mild symptoms, 100% refers to the rate of protection from heavy symptoms requiring hospitalization (or death).

Sheryl has put out what should be the final word on those studies, which are not "Chinese" and not "propaganda."

    the Seychelles

    Points to consider:

    • Sinopharm, Covishield
    • about 63% of infections are 0-dose or 1-dose, while 37% had completed 2 doses. (Breakout infections are occurring, but fully vaccinated persons are under-represented.)
    • no deaths among those who have completed 2 doses

Seychelles most vaccinated nation on Earth but Covid-19 has surged (cnbc.com)

Official response from WHO (Dr. Kate O'Brien):

[This is a] more complicated situation than the top-line messages. ...  But as we know ... some of the cases that are being reported are occurring either soon after a single dose, or soon after a second dose, or between the first and second doses. ... That evaluation is ongoing and we're supporting and engaging with the country to understand the situation.

The government and the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) are encouraging foreigners living in Thailand to seek the opportunity to register for the kingdom’s vaccine programme despite ongoing confusion and a lack of information being encountered by many expats even this week.

I have mixed feelings about this "encouragement."
