    Some rather negative comments about a country that is generally peace loving. I find it funny when an American, for example, thinks Iran is evil. Iran has not started any war in the last say 100 years, compared to the US who have started many and one for a  made up reason, yet the Muslims are the bad guys....

     With respect, this may be so but after the removal of the Shah of Persia by the Revolutionary Guards, Iran supported and funded terror organisations that die "the dirty work"!

    within the framework of ASEAN’s “five-point consensus”.

    For reference: Asean's 5 point consensus

    On April 24, 2021, the leaders of nine ASEAN member states and Myanmar junta chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, agreed to the following five points:

    an immediate end to violence in the country;

    dialogue among all parties;

    the appointment of a special envoy;

    humanitarian assistance by ASEAN;

    and the special envoy’s visit to Myanmar to meet with all parties.

     from the start, it was “thoroughly clear that Min Aung Hlaing (Burmese Junta Chief)) was insincere in signing it and had no intention of following it.”

    Beaches and living close to the beach, gives a fresh nice Seabreeze and great views as sunrise or sunsets, which can relax and brighten your mind.

    Fresh seafood and great restaurants with seaview.

     With respect, not for me. Give me the lakes, forests, mountains and rivers of the North any day for exihilerating experiences - my personal choice.

    Yummy.

    It's still food, even if not attractive at that stage, and it all comes out the same way as the finest chef prepared Cordon Bleu.

    With respect, not in my book!

    Cordon Bleu is a schnitzel (pork in this example) that is filled with cheese and ham, breaded with crumbs and deep-fried until it is crisp. The characteristic of this dish is a crunchy outside, and inside tender flesh which oozes melted cheese.

    With all the healthy, fresh, and delicious food in the world, it's hard to imagine anyone would be missing any of that horrid, processed, nitrate infested, heart attack inducing junk food made with monkey foreskins from America.

    Very much so - and thanks!

    If only people who like such junk food knew how it was prepared. The last remaining material on a pig's carcass (or other animal) is "vacumed off" leaving just bone. This includes skin, fat, gristle, cartilage, tendons and muscle. It is munged up into a slurry, with all the additives, which is then forced into the collagen and cellulose casings. Yuck!

    Initial reports suggest the pickup driver lost control on the wet road causing the disastrous collision

    My condolences to all involved and their families. What I found very sad was the situation where a dedicated medical team (ambulance) transporting and caring for the pregnant lady to give birth in hospital was suddenly "taken out" by the pickup - it must have been very traumatic, especially for the unborn baby's father. RIP to all deceased, including the unborn baby girl or boy. 😢

    Fortunately these thieving, serial killing maniacs seem to be losing their toxic grip on the nation. A pox on them and their families. May the youth, the resistance and the good people of Burma prevail against the monstrous generals. Nothing short of execution, or at a minimum, a life of exile, would be fitting for them.

    A few more drone attacks like this may bring about the demise of the Junta generals and their genocidal terrorist organisation - the Tatmadaw!  (April 2024)

    Brigadier-General Soe Min That, commander of the 44th Division controlling the Pha Song camp, 275th Infantry Battalion, Myawaddy, was killed on the battlefield near the Thai-Myanmar border. Armed ethnic groups have launched an air operation against Myanmar soldiers using drones and dropping bombs near the Thai-Myanmar border checkpoint at the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, opposite Ban Wang Takhian, Tha Sai Luad subdistrict, Mae Sot district, Tak province, causing the deaths of many government troops.

    I really related to that thread in here about Thailand being less friendly

    But as we have Cambodian expats, Philippines expats and all other ASIAN expats NOT just Thailand on here please tell me about your experiences in other places

    Look I'm going to be honest with you.

    I found Filipino guys more "aggressive" and dominate than other ASEAN countries but they weren't RUDE and most had sense if humour unlike im finding with Thai people nowadays

    The Filipino women were ok although dominant too but they all had laughter and sense of humour

    Malaysia was great , friendly polite people with great manners

    I lived in Thailand and now reside in Cambodia (Siem ReaP). IMO the Khmer people are much friendlier and much more helpful than the Thais. During my travels, and pre-Junta, I also found the Burmese people charming and very friendly.  The Laotians and Vietnamese not so friendly.

    Anybody has any information about the quality, pricing etc at eye hospitals in Cambodia.

    A "starter" for reference: Check this website (Siem Reap Regional Eye Hospital) -

    https://sokhakrom.com/en/hospital/detail/108#:~:text=The SRREH is also a,%2C glaucoma%2C paediatric and oculoplasty.

    Please note many Cambodians requring eye surgery, and other specialist treatments, cross the border into Thailand to attend the Thai Government Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani where there are special arrangements for them as private patients. Laotians and "farangs" can attend as well.

    They do get the full pension that they are entitled to when they claim but they do not get any annual increases.  Not every claimant gets "the full pension", including UK residents, it depends on the individual's NI contributions.

    Thank you - very much so. As I stated elsewhere, my UK State Pension is frozen at 102 GBP per week and is based on the full 40 year's worth of NI contributions. I started contributing at the age of 16 and ceased when I retired at 56. I was always in employment. After retirement I was recalled for contract work. I did not have to pay NI contributions as I had the maximum amount "in the pot".
