Why don't Makro make this small change?
Burma Bill replied to ESLTeacher1989's topic in General Topics
At local supermarkets here in Siem Reap (Cambodia), chicken breasts are still sold "whole" just like our MAKRO. I do not know of any establishment that sells sliced chicken breasts. To pay more for slicing would not go down well with the majority of locals here - one does it oneself, so easy! Personally, I prefer whole chicken breasts as I prepare my own food and can process them according to what dish I want. I slice cold cooked chicken for salads, chunk or cube fresh chicken for cooking in curries and stews etc. -
IMO I do not think it was bootleg liquor. Perhaps genuine and possibly smuggled from Cambodia where spirits, wine and beer are so much cheaper (I know, I now live here!) Just look at the price differences (ref. wine-searcher.com): One litre CHIVAS REGAL 12 years old 2,299 Thai Baht (Thailand) 941 Thai Baht (Cambodia). One litre GORDONS GIN 1,093 Thai baht (Thailand) 455 Thai baht (Cambodia). I purchase 750cl 40% Gordons Gin for 9 US$ (320 baht) at my local supermarket. Of interest, sales tax in Thailand is 7% and in Cambodia 10%. The difference in prices may be due to high excise duty in rip-off Thailand!

Thailand’s Mae Fah Luang airport to reopen as Nok Air aircraft moved
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Rai News
Some quotes for reference from today's "The Nation" "a rescue team arrived within two minutes" (but passengers were kept inside the plane for well over an hour) "The pilot decided to turn off the engines and fuel system to prevent fire and leakage" "The captain also decided to keep passengers inside the aircraft as it was raining heavily and there was a thunderstorm. Moreover, the area was dark without any spotlights" "Passengers were evacuated by vans and ambulances after around an hour. The plane’s battery died out so some passengers might have felt hot and could not breathe during the evacuation process" "Once the rain weakened to a drizzle, some passengers decided to wait outside the plane as others were transported to the airport terminal by Thai Airways’ buses" "Passengers were forbidden from walking to the building as they risked being hit by lightning" "The pilot and crew tried to communicate to passengers in Thai and English to keep them from panicking" (not reassuring for passengers who did not understand these languages) ".............admitted that the passengers did not receive enough food and water after they were evacuated to the airport building because shops there had closed" "Nok Air booked 87 rooms in three hotels for the passengers while some who went home also received compensation" "It was an investigation committee that had ordered the airline not to transport the baggage to the terminal because they wanted to conduct a probe first" and there is more........... https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40018501 After the plane was back on the runway:- -

CAAT advises Thai airlines to avoid air space over and near Taiwan
Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thank you for your fascinating links to the establishment of today's Taiwan, previously Formosa, in 1949 and the settlement of General Chiang Kai-shek's Chinese Nationalists after defeat in the Chinese Civil War to Chairman Mao's Communists. This war started in 1927 and restarted in 1946 after the end of the Second World War. It was Chiang Kai-shek who was the founder of modern Formosa (Taiwan - ROC) having decided not to re-group and attack the mainland again. What did surprise me was this and maybe why Xi is so incensed:- "The ROC, however, continues to officially claim exclusive sovereignty over the now-CCP governed mainland China" (Wikipedia). -
