  1. A meat and two veg market?
  2. Many light years away before completion of HST. SRT's priority at the moment is the completion of double track projects on the current narrow gauge system. reference Google: Thailand is upgrading its railway system through a combination of infrastructure projects and technology enhancements. This includes doubling existing tracks, modernizing stations, upgrading signalling and telecommunication systems, and investing in new trains and rolling stock. The modernization efforts aim to improve safety, increase capacity, and reduce travel times, particularly on key railway lines.
  3. With respect, not at all!. I shall be meeting up with ex-pat pals I knew before I crossed borders.
  4. Born in Witney, Oxfordshire UK. Left 25 years ago to live in retirement, first 20 years in Northern Thailand now 5 years in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
  5. I shall be visiting Khon Kaen in Thailand from Siem Reap in Cambodia.
  6. Maybe his tattoo read:-
  7. These Chinese lads were really tanked up!
  8. Yes indeed. Watched the video on Face Book last night. Not only knocked off his feet but got a good kicking to his head, then body! Drunken foreign scum that Pattaya has to put up with - throw him out of Thailand and do not waste money trying to prosecute him!
  9. As an 81 years UK old fart now living in Cambodia, I still regularly travel to Thailand by air and car. Yes, from my experience there are people who kindly help at airports, especially the wheelchair attendants. In 3 days time I shall be flying from Siem Reap to Khon Kaen with Air Asia. As my journey will be before the 1st May, I am expecting zero hassle with Immigration in Bangkok DMK. No TM6 as I shall be flying. All I get is an entry stamp in my passport. On my return, I have to complete a Cambodian electronic arrival card in Siem Reap. This is done ON ARRIVAL and not on a prior date. The wheelchair attendant usually does this for me as the electronic tablets in Immigration are fixed on high tables which cannot be easily reached from a wheelchair - bad planning in my opinion. You have to use the tablets provided, Smartphones are of no use! With respect, what other issues am I likely to encounter when visiting Thailand? I do not have a smartphone and when in Thailand I use cash or my Visa debit card to pay bills with no problems. Any company insisting on a QR code does NOT get my business!
  10. I just completed this quiz. My Score 30/100 My Time 211 seconds
  11. That is why he is living in Thailand along with many other nutcases from around the world!
  12. Yes indeed like here in Cambodia if you arrive by AIR at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap or Sihanoukville International Airports. The only difference is you complete the electronic form on ARRIVAL in the Immigration hall where tablets are provided, not beforehand. If you arrive at a land or sea border crossing, you still have to complete an old paper arrival/departure card. Whatever you have to do, remember in addition you still need to complete another form for your visa unless you already have a tourist e-visa.
  13. Yes indeed. I was watching a recent YouTube video on this subject in which was stated "In special circumstances, Immigration Officials will be available at the checkpoint to assist persons without the DAC". If I complete the DAC arrival details using my home computer, will an A4 sized paper copy be acceptable? I do not own a smartphone.
  14. Thai Tax on UK pensions Oh really? During my 20 years of retirement in Thailand, I never paid one Baht in Thai tax on my 3 pensions. Now living in Cambodia for the past 5 years, not one Riel in tax on the same 3 pensions.
  15. Being an insulin type 2 diabetic, this is welcome news but it is a matter of personal choice. For reference (Google) - Here's a more detailed look at the pros and cons of each: Sugar: Pros: Provides energy, can be found in natural foods (fruits, vegetables, milk, etc.), and is a natural part of the human diet. Cons: Excessive sugar intake can lead to weight gain, increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and contribute to other health issues. Artificial Sweeteners: Pros: Offer sweetness without the calories, may be helpful for weight management in the short term, and can be an alternative for individuals with diabetes. Cons: Some research links artificial sweeteners to potential health concerns like cardiovascular disease, metabolic problems, and gut microbiome disruptions. One study found that erythritol, a common sugar alcohol, increased platelet stickiness, potentially increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Here in Siem Reap, our supermarkets offer a vast range of sugar free non-alcoholic drinks, much more so than Thai supermarkets. My drinks chill cabinet is full of them - not one sugar drink! I have been consuming them for just over 30 years and at age 81 I have no ill effects from them, having regular tests at my doctor's clinic. No further comment from me.
  16. Wow - so early! Many more bars in Pattaya now in line for a raid? GREAT.
  17. With the greatest respect, I hope they do so. The local Thai growers and producers will benefit, not a large international corporation.
  18. What is not mentioned in this article is the reason for a potential coffee shortage - reference The Nation Facebook page: Thai retailers fear shortages following legal injunction against Nestlé in ongoing dispute with former manufacturer. Retailers across Thailand are bracing for a potential shortage of Nescafé instant coffee after a court order temporarily halted its production, manufacturing, sales, and importation into the Kingdom. No problem for me (when I lived in Thailand), living up in Lanna, there were plenty of tastier and better quality coffees sourced locally for example Chiang Dao and Doi Mae Salong. I never bought Nescafe's "dust".
  19. Now I know why the river is named Ping - the sounds of G strings being plucked!
  20. From the video posted by The Nation on Facebook, this drunk idiot is wearing a black T-shirt with Ämerican Eagle" clearly printed across the chest. I think this may give a clue!
  21. With respect, please note from article he is a she! (Well done her parents)
  22. Alcohol and/or marijuana? Possibly Ya Ba? No further comment from me.
  23. Throw him out of Thailand and ban him from re-entering for life!
  24. Taking a bus these days in Thailand is like playing Russian Roulette!
