  1. Well done young man. Maybe you will become a typical Thai "wheeler dealer" in the future!!
  2. Ah ha! Is this the possible reason why bars stay closed and alcohol banned????
  3. With due respect, I did for 20 years but only when it came to medical/health insurance being an insulin dependent Type 2 diabetic. No problems for car, personal accident and house contents.
  4. So, out go "lady boy" cabaret shows and in comes "Bollywood"??????
  5. Quote: "No, Loy Krathong is not canceled" Only lanterns, fireworks, bars, alcohol, large gatherings (festivals)!!!!!
  6. Yes they do, but (ref Google):- Rolls-Royce Motor Cars was sold by Vickers to Volkswagen, although BMW hold the rights to the name and the marque for use on Rolls-Royce cars, having acquired the rights from Rolls-Royce plc for £40m in 1998. BMW took over responsibility for Rolls-Royce cars from the beginning of 2003.
  7. Very interesting - the choice for the majority was Sinovac or Sinopharm, however (for reference):- Cambodia has almost run out of the Jansen Johnson & Johnson vaccine, received from the United States under the COVAX initiative. These vaccines were administered to some front liners, hill tribes, security forces in hard to access front line and border areas. Full report on link below. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50947116/cambodia-literally-runs-out-of-jansen-johnson-johnson-vaccine-for-covid-19-vaccination/
  8. This also applies to Cambodia. https://aseannow.com/topic/1238753-the-uk-now-recognizes-sinopharm-and-sinovac-vaccines/
  9. Yes indeed, especially for us in Cambodia where Sinovac and Sinopharm are the only two vaccines available for the general population. The limited supplies of donated "western" vaccines are used as third booster jabs for frontline staff. I am regarded as fully vaccinated with 2 jabs of Sinovac.
  10. I realize it may be impossible to achieve an equivalent view near Chiang Mai. To the south of Chiang Mai is the Doi Inthanon National Park. This is where the Thai National Observatory is located:-

  12. For reference (again) from the Cambodian Press regarding migrants (7th November 2021):- Five from Cambodia tested positive for COVID-19 in Thailand even as hundreds get deported Khmertimeskh.com/50966106/five-from-cambodia-tested-positive-for-covid-19-in-thailand-even-as-hundreds-get-deported/ Maybe the Thai Authorities are suppressing such information within LOS so as not to upset their re-opening plans???
  13. IMO it would be very welcome, but making sure none goes to the Burmese military terrorist group, the Tatmadaw and its allies!
  14. With respect, rubbish!! Also undercapitalized younger generation as well - the "poor" school teachers???? IMO there will be many countries around the World that will still welcome retiree pensioners post Covid-19 without all the hassle one gets in Thailand. Certainly here in Cambodia the doors are not closing for elderly Farangs (like me). Currently there are NO mandatory bureaucratic financial, medical insurance and other documentation requirements to get a retirement visa (ER). One does not have to show sums of money kept in a bank for Immigration to see, in fact one does not need to have a bank account!! Last month I renewed my annual retirement visa, all I had to present was my passport, 2 recent passport sized photos, reference to my registration on FPCS (Foreign Persons in Cambodia System) and 290 US$. What might happen in the future who knows? For me, major hospital treatment could be a problem because being over 65 and a diabetic, I cannot get medical insurance. I currently fund all my own medical costs from my 3 pensions, but should there be major hospitalization then I can draw on UK funds. Fortunately here in Siem Reap there is a choice of small private less expensive hospitals and clinics in comparison to the mega costly Royal Angkor International Hospital (Bangkok Hospital Group).
  15. I lived in Lanna for 13 years and Isaan for 6 years and I generally found the Northern/Eastern folk, including the various ethnic minority tribes, welcoming and charming, unlike many of the obnoxious and racist Thai establishment "hi-so's" from Bangkok we had to endure during public holidays. IMO "Toxic" just about sums them up!!
  16. With due respect, may I make reference to today's Cambodian press regarding migrants in Thailand (7 November 2021):- "Five out of 13 imported cases of COVID-19 reported in Thailand had arrived from Cambodia. The remaining were from eight other countries, including one each from Turkey, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Malaysia and Myanmar and two from France" https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50966106/five-from-cambodia-tested-positive-for-covid-19-in-thailand-even-as-hundreds-get-deported/ I think there should be 7 other countries, not 8 as stated and apart from Burma, the other countries may refer to tourists rather than migrants - but I might be wrong.
  17. I voted for the latter - no insurance, simply because I am a 77 year old insulin dependent Type 2 diabetic who cannot get medical/Covid-19 insurance being constantly refused. I was able to purchase car and personal accident insurance.
  18. Just in from "Breaking News" The Nation this afternoon (6th November 2021):- A group of 23 illegal Myanmar migrants, three of whom were dead and four seriously injured, were found stranded on the roadside in Kamphaeng Phet province on Saturday. Initial interrogation revealed that the group had entered Thailand illegally via natural channels and had paid agents 7,000 to 23,000 baht per person to transport them in a pick-up truck from ............ Mae Sot to job sites in different parts of Thailand. “When the truck reached Kamphaeng Phet, it lost control while travelling downhill and overturned. Some of the passengers were thrown overboard,” https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40008495
