  1. Well i didn't go with a medical as the logistics of getting one before was not possible for me. I went to a different Transport  office (same province)  this time, as the main one before, refused to accept the yellow book, and insist on the letter from immigration and even they tell me its not needed but TIT. I got there eventually at 11 am GPS was wrong and google maps. As i said before the missus had spoken to them before on the phone. They checked all my Docs and was told all OK, now you have to make an appointment for next week, when it was pointed out i could have been told that over the phone, she lost face and started shouting at my wife that she had to check first, that my docs were Genuine, so now I must make the 3.5 hrs. trip again next week and be there at 1pm. Upside yellow book accepted, No medical required and now I know where it is.

It's pretty much the only country in Asia that allows gun ownership (for citizens). Of course many progressives and anti-gun people won't like this, but it's true. Contrast this to China where the death penalty is imposed for illegal possession of a gun and Vietnam, where length jail sentences apply.

Seems China and Vietnam have got it right then. Do you really like to hear about gun deaths everyday? you are calling that sensible? You need help if you do. :post-4641-1156694572:

Then I hope it works out like that for me.

There's another thread about online learning, but I am not sure if it's necessary for renewals. Luckily the office is just a couple of miles away from us.

Just got the missus to call my local Transport Office, my D L ran out in April, They have told her not to worry as the Amnesty for renewal runs until the 30th of Sept! but can renew it now, and i "Might need to get a medical" so long ago (6yr) now that i can not remember, if the medical is mandatory or not, on renewal any one Know? as even they seem vague ????

  4. Where i live, in the town they have footpaths, the problem is that the curbs are 30+ cm high with no ramps and side soi's every 15 mt most people walk in the road traffic side, of parked cars, dragging suit cases and pushing strollers. To blame others for bad footpaths is passing the buck, as normally in my experience it is pure bad construction done on the cheapest quote, and best commission.

  5. My wife was shown by her driving school how to read the tyre date regardless of KL, and told after 4 yrs to change them, it was me that showed her the wear bars, having said that, applying tyre silicon to the walls regularly and park in shade when poss. helps to protect against UV, i now just buy the cheap tyres and will change after 4 yrs.

If I didn't like it more here than my country of origin, I would move back.

I don't like double pricing at national parks,

And I find it difficult to tolerate the complete lack of driver training, and road safety.

It even annoys me when sometimes a blue plastic pipe springs a leak, or our pump makes funny noises.....

But apart from all that, I absolutely love being here in the land of smiles, and wouldn't have it any other way.

How can one not get annoyed, yesterday employed a guy to cut of a few limbs from a tall tree, which were also growing into HIS power lines, he managed to bring down my internet cable, pulling the cable clips off the house and power pole, while he was re-attaching to the house he broke the washing machine i spent 2 hrs repairing it, and i had to pay him 300 baht about 3 hrs work which he went of to spend leaving me to repair said W/M and my internet cable 1.5 mt lower. ???? :cheesy: or ????
