  1. Check any older BMW or Merc very carefully its not uncommon here for the engine and gearbox to be replaced by a V6 from japan as the bodies and chassis hold up well by the engines and gearboxe get shagged and mullahed by thai mechanics , i have seen dozens of these conversions over the years on german cars some barely out of warramty with Toyota,Honda or Nissan V6 under the hood .

All caused by people not noticing that the radiator has drained after being damaged by a stone according to a TV expert.

  2. The only thing that has changed in the village is that the clubhouse (which was rarely used and poorly maintained anyway) has been lost until someone decides to make a go of it.

The security rarely stopped anyone from coming or going and dogs have always been allowed to roam by negligent owners.

I take umbrage with the village being 'upscale' too. Sub 3million baht homes are hardly 'upscale'.

The reality is, that very little has changed for the majority of people who live there.

  3. Have you tried searching for an MC22 (or MC19 if you want a slightly older model)?

Nope, but I might now smile.png

May go for a 4 stroke 400, but read a lot of horror stories...... any more input?

Great bikes, bullet proof. But sadly, not Thai proof so be prepared to get a proper mechanic if needed to undo all the Thai botching.

  4. Looking through the ads it seems incredible that there are so many relatively low mileage cars with new or rebuilt engines. Is basic servicing really beyond the scope of many car owners (Thai and foreign)? One could perhaps be forgiven if it was just a crappy Vios or something, but when it's an expensive imported vehicle, I really can't work it out.

  5. Actually you have the CCTV footage, the security guy and her licencse plate and name. Just give that to your insurance and then at least you will have your car repaired without any increased premium. I really think your insurance company can help you out with this problem as her car has to be registered somewhere too. In my last accident we both had the same company, made it even faster.

And just forget about her, no need to talk with her any further as all the evidence needed is there and your insurance should take care......now you only have to find a taxi while you wait for your repaired car biggrin.png

Edit, yes just what NBD says should be true.

    At last! The correct answer.

Your insurance company should do all the leg work to make her insurance pays. If she has no insurance, your insurance will deal with it and should inform the police. If it makes you feel better, a couple of heavy key lines down the side of her car should do the trick.

  6. sonic is better. powerful engine better ergonomics.

keep it or get the new suzuki raider 150 cc air cooled dohc 4 valve engine. i think 65k - 70k thb. blue one looks cool.

Just had a look at the Suzuki site. I'm not sure they sell many Jelatos if this is how they view it. smile.png

  7. In terms of value for money, I think pound for pound their cars are still a step ahead of the competition in LOS. Not so with the bikes IMO.

You can't be serious? 10 years ago, maybe, but Honda are still there, 10 years in the past.

As for the likes of the Wave, we have had 4 over the last 6 years. The first one (125i) was solid and nice to ride. The next 125i never felt right from the moment I rode it home from the dealer. We then got a 110i for me to poodle around on and it was very well made and I preferred it to the 2nd 125i. We got rid of the 2nd 125i and bought a new one about a year ago. It was the best one yet and had more storage and a better ride due to bigger wheels.

My wife doesn't like the feet-forward automatic bikes, so the Wave is her preferred bike.

We did look at a Yamaha 135cc bike. It was really nice, but had absolutely no storage space so we ended up getting Wave #4. I also don't want to replace the battery every 6 months like nearly everyone I know with a small Yamaha does.
