I think most of the brands that took part in EV 3.0 subsidy are praying that the Thai Goverment will offer them a lifeline Total BEV sales to 30th September stands at 40,464 Under EV 3.0 84,195 imported vehicles in 2022 and 2023 66,448 imported in 2024 So to meet EV 3.0 brands have to locally build 84,195 based on 1 to 1 ratio those build have to compete with 66,448 imported in 2024 so total number of vehicles is 150,643 The Thai locally built vehicles can't be exported unless they meet the 40% local content rule So we have 150,643 new vehicles of which 40.464 have been sold leaving 110,179 unsold EV sector crisis as Chinese firms are trapped between lack of demand and government tax penalties Thai EV crisis: Chinese firms struggle with overproduction and government tax penalties threat amid falling global demand. With rising household debt and regulatory hurdles, manufacturers face tough choices—either ramp up production at a loss or repay hefty subsidies and waived import taxes on EV cars coming from China. Thailand’s brave new EV manufacturing world is in crisis. The sector, which has seen Chinese firms invest billions, is now suffering a market glut as demand for EV cars, both in Thailand and across the world except for China, falls. This year has seen the industry tilt decisively towards HEV or hybrid vehicles. At this time, it is being reported that Chinese firms in Thailand are holding urgent talks with the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok. The firms are bound under Thailand’s 3.0 and 3.5 incentive schemes to ramp up production to match the number of imported vehicles here. However, unable to find export markets for the cars, they are left with a vast dilemma: either manufacture cars that no one wants or pay back subsidies and import tax waivers with penalties on each imported car to the Thai government. Something has to give either on one side or the other https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2024/09/16/ev-sector-crisis-as-chinese-firms-are-trapped-between-lack-of-demand-and-government-tax-penalties/

Thats the problem when you look at figures month by month instead of year In the Uk Decembe is one of the favourite months where manufacturer and dealers sell new cars to themselves as pre registration On Auto Trader for 2022 used cars with less than 100 miles on vehicle 2022 69 less than 100 miles 27 petrol 1 diesel 32 electric 9 hybrid On Auto Trader for 2023 used cars with less than 100 miles on vehicle 2023 726 less than 100 miles 327 Petrol 59 Diesel 219 Electric 120 Hybrid 1 Bi Fuel On Auto Trader for 2024 used cars with less than 100 miles on vehicle 2024 6204 less than 100 miles 2,902 Petrol 629 Diesel 1,126 Electric 1,533 Hybrid 1 Bi Fuel Expect a bumper month in December for pre sales

I must admit your unbalanced view of EV sales in the UK did bring a chuckle to my face according to you UK will hit the 22% target where the SMMT states that is likely the industry will miss that target for both new car sales (22%) and Van sales(10%) UK SMMT has recently written a letter to Rachel Reeves MP Chancellor of the Exchequer "So far this year, one in six new car buyers has chosen a ZEV.1 Volumes are up but market share is barely moving. The van transition is even more challenged – with ZEVs accounting for just one in 20 registrations.2 The ZEV mandate demands 22% of every brand’s new car sales and 10% of new van sales be zero emission in 2024. As an industry we will likely miss those targets and a significant number of brands face the prospect of either buying credits from another company or paying swingeing compliance payments. " 1 BEV share of YTD new car market 17.8% - prelim figures 2 BEV share of YTD new LCV market to 3.5T 4.8% - prelim figures https://www.smmt.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/UK-Auto-Open-letter-to-the-Chancellor-ZEV-incentives-call.pdf

One of the recent cases involving the bus it was the legal guardian of the child that left her child to be raised by relatives maybe showing up once a year to see their child and was very quick to claim the 1.2 million baht compensation -
Norway does an excellent job of producing stats In 2023 Total number of private cars including ambulances, combined vehicles and motor homes was 2,886 795 ICE vehicles total was 1,990,605 and combined BEV and PHEV was 896,190 giving BEV and PHEV market share of 45% or all private cars including ambulances, combined vehicles and motor homes registered in 2023 https://www.ssb.no/en/transport-og-reiseliv/landtransport/statistikk/bilparken

This chart shows the price of cars in Yuan and the equivalent price in THB and then it shows the price of the same vehicle when it arrives in Thailand as you can see the increase in price for Thailand varies by Brand with Byd with the lowest price increase for Thailand Some of the vehicles listed are not part of EV 3.5 subsidy agreement and therefore are subject to normal customs duties but it does show overall that the prices of EV's are cheaper in China compared to Thailand https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=3247565412044635&set=gm.7927927447327783&idorvanity=2389905174463399

R.Y.1 Private passenger car with no more than 7 people for September total number 36,567 Number of EV's 4,495 market share 12.3% As for the UK SMMT has recently written a letter to Rachel Reeves MP Chancellor of the Exchequer "So far this year, one in six new car buyers has chosen a ZEV.1 Volumes are up but market share is barely moving. " https://www.smmt.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/UK-Auto-Open-letter-to-the-Chancellor-ZEV-incentives-call.pdf It would appear that the SMMT doesn't agree with your assement that the UK is storming ahead with EV's

The MG ZS EV on the website is the current model that was launched in March 2022 New model might be named as MG S5 as they have done in other countries https://www.mgcars.com/th/mg-models/new-mg-zs-ev/overview As for landlord best to contact them and see what they say where you are working do they offer EV charging facilites
-
Yes MG ZS EV has 2 models Model D at B599K and Model X at B699K @KhunLA is the best person to tell you about difference with MG ZS and MG ZS EV as he has owned both Other cars to consider in similar price and KM range of say 360KM upwards would be Ora Cat at B629K in my view similar shape to volkswagen beetle Neta V2 at B429K and Neta V1 hard to find new now price reduction from B549K to B368K there is a current thread in the motoring section for Neta V Byd Dolphin standard range B569K or extended range B709K When it comes to resale you should consider which seat format is easier to sell I suspect majority of people are more interested in a 4/5 seat car than a 6/7 seat car For the rare occasions that you might need 6/7 seats an option might be simply rent a large vehicle for those occasions Also if doing the trips that you mention consider which model does have decent size boot space for your needs

Can't confirm that name will be the same for Thailand for other countries MG ZS name will remain for Hybrid model for EV model MG S5 I did read somewhere that the MG S5 will be built in Thailand so it would be odd if the S5 wasn't available for the domestic market https://carnewschina.com/2024/07/12/new-all-electric-mg-s5-suv-in-surprise-listing-exports-likely/ https://www.car250.com/mg-s5-suv-ev-aus.html Current Model B599K September 24th here https://www.facebook.com/werayut.sitanurak/videos/524762280515093?idorvanity=2572340166118367 September 10th Here https://www.facebook.com/groups/2572340166118367/posts/8778807348804920 September 11th here https://www.facebook.com/groups/2572340166118367/posts/8786361504716171 you are correct they are getting less in numbers I have seen more ads for the X version at B699K For anyone looking for the B599K D version best bet is to email via facebook in Thai all dealers in a 100 km radius of your home location and if that doesn't produce any results extend the radius to 300/500km

Its a shame that they are unable to fit the free Rat Guard modification as I have read of owners that have taken delivery of the vehicle and were booked in 2 months later for the free Rat Guard modification and guess what the rats didn't wait 2 months

Norway’s Oil Demand Hasn’t Crashed Despite Record EV Market Share Norwegians, like other consumers, are concerned about vehicle range, and many opt for hybrids or gasoline-fueled vehicles to travel longer distances, according to the bank. “Another possibility is that electric vehicles are used for short distances, but Norwegians still rely on fossil fuels to cover longer distances,” UBS said in the note. https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Norways-Oil-Demand-Hasnt-Crashed-Despite-Record-EV-Market-Share.html Norwegians no different to thais having access to both EV and ICE vehicles

Plenty of dealers offering MG ZS EV for B599K in the MG ZS EV facebook group pages https://www.facebook.com/groups/2572340166118367 Replacement model not available in Thailand yet expected either December Motor show or March April Motor show expect it will be more expensive that current model , new model will be based on MG4 platform and unlikely to offer modular batteries so it nore than likely to be a similar single battery such as MG4 When MG ZS EV 2nd generation was launched in March 2022 the launch price was B1,189,000 so at B599,000 once they gone thats it until new model becomes available Major difference between ZS EV and atto3 is zs ev battery casing is metal atto 3 is plastic if you leaning towards atto 3 suggest you read the https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand Plenty of reports from owners that were required to claim on their insurance as rats had eaten through the battery casing and as a result water ingress may have occured end result replacement battery required there was news that BYD were to release a upgraded blade battery blade gen 2 battery which is expected to be 30% cheaper and provide a range of 1,000 km and is safer when this battery will be released and which models it will be released for is anyone guess as no further annoucments from Byd I think you mentioned that your were planning to pay a down payment of B200K on a car that costs B599 that is a 33.5% down payment and if you currently paying B18k a month on rental you could own the car completely within 2 years if you get the dealer to offer 0% percent
-
On the EV front suggest you look at MG ZS EV currently on sale for B599K trips from BKK to pattaya, rayong and Koh Chang all possible without stopping to recharge @KhunLA is the MG ZS EV expert on these forums Its unlikely that there will be any further price reductions on the MG ZS EV as it due to be phased out within the next 6 months it battery config is modular made up of 6 seperate batteries

If you have access to storage and a time machine you could go back to 1985 and pickup the last of the Sinclair C5 that were being sold off by Comet for £139.99 Today, the Sinclair C5 appears to be finally finding favour. Values for project vehicles start from around £1,000, rising to around £5,000 for ‘new-old stock’ boxed examples. Optional accessories that were rare even when new, such as wing mirrors and high visibility masts, are highly sought after by collectors. https://www.footmanjames.co.uk/blog/sinclair-c5-electric-car-the-future-too-soon -

The B599K price is because they want to clear stock before the replacement MG ZS EV arrives Don' think anyone would buy at the B829K price if they are aware that MG is selling for B599K Likewise I can't see anyone paying B599K or higher for a used MG ZS EV 2022 model MG ZS EV are advertised on Facebook for B469K There are no 2022,2023 or 2024 models advertised on one2car -

Not sure why you keep quoting the B829K price when your wife was told by a MG dealer that the B599K price is valid and correct And as for insurance compaines and Capital amount there appear to be changes happening as quoted here “Now each insurance company is reducing the insurance capital of new EV cars and it is expected that the insurance capital in the future will decrease by 30% per year, not just 10% anymore because the price of EV cars is quite dynamic. Every company has to think and act again because if the insurance capital of EV cars is more expensive than the second-hand price, there will be fraud,” said the sourcehttps://www.prachachat.net/finance/news-1598803 -

If we look at MG ZS EV 2022 with no subsidy and no price reductions Price was B1,189,000 we assumed standard rate of depreciation 10% per year March 2022 price B1,189,000 March 2023 value should be B1,070,100 March 2024 value should be B963,090 March 2025 value should be B866,781 now if we take into account subsidy of B240,000 and further price reductions totalling B350,000 Current price of MG ZS EV Model D is B599,000 Combined subsidy and price reductions total is B590,000 That is a drop in value over 2 years of 49.6% or 24.8% per year Best solution for current owners is to keep their car rather than give it away due to price reductions by the Brand -

It was built sometime in 2023 it was registered in February 2024 I seen 2013 cars built in 2013 advertised on one2car as 2022 model because the owner drove around on red plates for 9 years due to the dynamic pricing of EV insurance compainies are planning to reduce the capital value of EV by 30% each year instead of the current 10% “Now each insurance company is reducing the insurance capital of new EV cars and it is expected that the insurance capital in the future will decrease by 30% per year, not just 10% anymore because the price of EV cars is quite dynamic. On the EV Brands facebook page a number of owners have had to make a claim against their inusrance policy for Rats eating through the plastic casing cover for reasons unknown one EV brand decided to install plastic covers on some but not all of the models they sell end result was full battery replacement once you have a hole its likely that you will have water ingress in the battery
