  1. The West’s humiliating electric car climbdown has begun Ambitious plans for an electrification-led industrial revolution are in full-scale retreat There is nothing wrong with EVs themselves. They are often great as run-arounds for dense urban environments, and as long as the raw materials are sourced correctly, and the chargers are not powered by coal-burning generators, they are probably a little better for the environment than the petrol version. If people want them, then that’s great. The trouble with the industry right now is that demand is falling because the vehicles cost far more than anyone expected, https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/02/02/west-humiliating-electric-car-climbdown-begun/ Byd seal is approx B800,000 more expensive in the UK compared to the entry level model in Thailand You can almost buy 2 MG4 in Thailand for 1 MG4 in the UK MG4 is the cheapest electric car in the UK at £27K equals B1,225,403
  2. 4. Here the link that you forgot to post Foreign Minister Majalli Wahabi accused it of focusing on Palestinian suffering and ignoring that of Israel: "We have seen that Al-Jazeera has become part of Hamas ... [sic] taking sides and cooperating with people who are enemies of the state of Israel." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Jazeera_controversies_and_criticism Majalli Wahabi (Arabic: مجلي وهبي, Hebrew: מגלי והבה, also spelled Majalli Wahbee, born 12 February 1954) is an Druze-Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Likud, Kadima and Hatnuah between 2003 and 2013.[1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majalli_Wahabi So statement is from an Israeli politician
  5. There is a law as stated in the op two foreigners for violating the Vehicle Act by using unregistered vehicles on the public roads. This charge results in a fine of up to 10,000 baht. They could also be charged with using unlicensed(untaxed) vehicle on the public roads similar to 4 tourists in 2022 Patong tourists charged after driving unregistered electric scooters https://thethaiger.com/news/phuket/patong-tourists-charged-after-driving-unregistered-electric-scooters The e-unicycles are capable of up to speeds of 70 km/h
  6. UK Worst private new car sales results for January since 2009 Having just said that poor consumer sales are more than just an EV problem, there’s no doubt that EV sales are making the problem worse. According to the SMMT, private new EV sales fell by 25% compared to last January, which is 9% worse than the overall fall in private new car sales. And this is the first month of the government’s new ZEV mandate coming into effect, which requires car companies’ total sales to be at least 22% EVs. https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/worst-private-new-car-sales-results-for-january-since-2009/ At the moment its mainly businesses that are buying expensive EV's the higher the price of the EV the potential is there to pay less tax If you're a business owner, you can also benefit considerably from tax savings on electric cars. Since April 2021, brand-new, zero-emission EVs have qualified for a First Year Allowance (FYA), which allows for 100% of the EV cost to be offset against yearly taxable profits. https://www.connectedkerb.com/stories-and-reports/understanding-electric-vehicle-tax-benefits-in-the-uk-driving-towards-savings/#:
  7. It would appear that some manufacturers aren't interested in Car of the year Perhaps it is a measure of the perceived lack of importance for this understated award that Peugeot chose not to bring its new 3008, but what is the explanation for Volvo delivering a sole example of its highly-fancied EX30 with only a 2 per cent charge in the battery, not even enough to get it to the nearest charger? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/features/car-of-the-year-2024-uk-models-finalists-ranked/ Looking at the snapshot of each model the author isn't that keen on any model as stated in the comments section best described as None of the above
  8. MG EP, EP+ or ES ( Electric only ) Thailand are named as MG5 in the Uk so ignore any UK reviews of MG5 unless you thinking about EV only MG5 is sold in Australia MG5 2024 Review: ZERO STARS for safety in shock crash test conducted after filming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etpAKiFGGto 2023 MG5 review & 0-100: How bad can it be? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoNdDukyklU

  10. People in the UK looking for Byd cars at GBP 20K are in for a long wait looking on Auto trader cheapest Byd car starts at £29K for a Dolphin and £31K for an used Atto 3 and £43K for Byd Seal https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?advertising-location=at_cars&fuel-type=Electric&make=BYD&moreOptions=visible&postcode=SW1A 2AA&sort=price-asc @KhunLA According to this your MG ZS EV has the best Energy consumption of electric vehicles rating of 297 Wh/mi for cars below B1,000,000 https://ev-database.org/uk/cheatsheet/energy-consumption-electric-car As your a subscriber to Harry’s Garage maybe you should ask him why he doesn't talk about EV fires
  11. I'm back in a diesel after 4yrs running both EV & PHEV. What needs to change to get me to go back?
  12. Unless you working for TAT the total number of vehicles sales in Thailand was 775,780 of which 76,314 were EV sales which represents 9.8% of the total vehicle sales and no matter what way you try to spin the total market share of 2023 is doesn't change any of the figures above You should look at it as a great success story as the yearly EV figures for 2022 were 9,729 cars
  13. It is perfectly valid to look at the total number of vehicles sales for 2023 rather than looking at selective 2 months where the % of registrations are higher due to the EV 3.0 subsidy ending unless your working on the TAT projection model of number of tourists Here are the results of a Carsome survey This is the origin of the survey of 200 CARSOME customers in February 2023 until finding interesting information as follows. One in three consumers , or 30.2%, are likely to be interested in purchasing a used EV vehicle in the next 1-2 years. 23.3% still not sure 46.5% have no interest https://www.brandbuffet.in.th/2023/03/carsome-launch-used-car-ev/ As to more Buyers than sellers that doesn't appear to be the case given your daughter recent car sale advertised November 8th 2023 and still not completed and @brfsa2 recent post where she sold a 2019 MG ZS EV to Carsome who took 6 months to find a buyer
  14. The 20% figure is only related to EV registrations for January 2024 if we look at total vehicles sales in Thailand for 2023 that was 775,780 of which 76,314 were EV sales which represents 9.8% of the total vehicle sales How well the 2nd hand EV market in Thailand will largely depend on a number of factors financial institutions are waiting for price stability within the new EV car sales market before lending against used EV cars. At the moment they are not seeing that price stability when Tesla and other brands don't meet their sales targets or have oversupply of certain models what do they do to resolve the issue is reduce prices When Chevrolet Thailand decided to exit Thailand with a 50% price reduction on a number of models financial institutions overnight announce that they would no longer accepting finance applications for Chevrolet models Obviously the fire sale had a huge impact on the price of used Chevrolet models For the used EV car market in Thailand, Mr. Siwapoom Lertsansaran Managing Director of Carsome (Thailand) Company Limited admits that right now it is still difficult to answer. Because the market is not yet clear and there is considerable risk. Whether the needs of consumers are changing all the time, including the price of used EV cars in Thailand, there is still no clear standard. And financial institutions' policies for lending used EV cars do not yet have a clear pattern. https://www.brandbuffet.in.th/2023/03/carsome-launch-used-car-ev/
  15. As to second hand EV's in Thailand that appears to be a developing market at the moment as stated in this article here Pinyo further explained that if these seized EVs were to be sold in the second-hand car market, it’s unlikely that financial institutions would provide loan schemes for potential buyers of used EVs. The lack of confidence in granting loans in the second-hand EV market stems from the market’s expected small size and the continued fluctuation in new EV prices, making it difficult for banks to calculate the value of used EVs, said Pinyo https://thethaiger.com/news/business/electric-vehicle-market-faces-risk-from-non-performing-loans Majority of vehicles purchased in Thailand are purchased using loan repayment finance This article is indicating that buyers have a greater chance of being approved for a loan on a 2nd hand ice vehicle than of a 2nd hand EV vehicle Its great that Macahoom got a good price for his EV as his post here stated he was only expecting peanuts "It's so good, I'm sorely tempted to buy one. The problem is, it's difficult to justify getting rid of my ZS. For a start, I'd get peanuts for it - no matter how good it is" https://aseannow.com/topic/1257405-electric-vehicles-in-thailand/page/58/#comment-17954163 As for your own sale I do recall that initially you priced your daughter MG EP+ at B699K and then you reduced it to B599K I guess due to brand new MG EP+ being advertised for sale on Facebook for B699K
  16. I think when it comes to major ticket items such as property and vehicles the majority of buyers in Thailand are concerned with potential resale values given that most buyers are encouraged by dealerships to put down the absolute minimum in down payment (it should be at least 15% of total purchase price but I have seen dealers offering 5% ) and then spreading the loan repayments over 7 years ( huge commission payments from the finance companies to the sales agent I have seen contracts where people are paying an extra 30% of the total cost of the vehicle in interest payments over the total purchase price if they paid cash and they hope that when it comes to trade in and buy another car that the resale value will be sufficient to pay off the balance of the loan and fund the down payment on a new vehicle
  17. Both in Thailand and the UK year and months are taken into consideration when providing valuations for example Toyota and a number of other brands do a minor change mid year so last year you could have a Toyota purchased in April and built in March and the specs would be based on the 2023 specs if you purchased the car in July with a build date of June 2023 the specs would be based on current 2024 specs. In the UK new car registrations are every March and September so a 2023 model purchased in February 2023 does receive a lower valuation when compared to an October 2023 model
  18. This Telegraph article was written in May 2023 so it was comparing a 3 year old EV purchased in 2020 with a 3 year old ICE model also purchased in 2020 as stated here A driver who bought an electric BMW i3 in 2020 would have paid £39,000 and could sell the car for £13,900 today, a depreciation of 64pc. However the petrol equivalent has maintained much more of its original value. A new petrol-powered BMW 3 series cost £32,000 on average three years ago but would sell for £22,360 now – a drop of just 30pc. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/consumer-affairs/electric-car-price-fall-second-hand-tesla-bmw/#:~:text=A driver who bought an,more of its original value. 19. Electric cars losing their value twice as fast as petrol alternatives Early adopters have seen huge amounts wiped off the value of their purchases rs. 20. It was quite clear that you didn't watch the video as you replied 4 minutes after I posted and the video was 21 minutes long The article I linked show the 10 EV cars that values that have dropped between 37% and 42% over the past 12 months price difference between January 2023 and January 2024 The article that you linked from the Telegraph showed the top 10 cars which went up in value in 2023 and compared the price differences between 2022 and 2023 of which 9 of them would appear to be ICE cars It appears you have no answer to falling EV depreciation prices so you deployed standard fall back solution of attacking the poster
  21. Clearly you didn't watch the video as it listed the 10 cars that values that have dropped between 37% and 42% over the past 12 months no mention about any cars that have appreciated in value
  22. 37%-42% Depreciation on 1 year old 10,000 miles UK electric cars
  23. Here is a case in Australia where the host contacted a guest because she left a review of ok https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/rot-in-hell-airbnb-owner-fined-2500-for-harassing-guest-over-review-20220527-p5aozk.html and another one in Canada https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/roadwarriorvoices/2015/09/01/airbnb-hosts-threatened-to-sue-guests-over-negative-reviews/83071380/
  24. Personally I think the Op is on a sticky wicket here it would appear he left his review based on a throwaway comment left by his cleaning staff that this villa was more dirty than another villa no photographic evidence can't even claim to have seen the dirt with his own eyes How dirty is dirty is impossible to define we know that Howard Hughes definition of dirty was very high 2 families walk into a fast food restaurant at the end of their meals one family took their rubbish and put it in the bins provided the other family just left everything on the table so you could argue one family is more dirtier than the other for years now large companies in USA and Europe only provide start and end dates of employment for fear of being sued i know of one manager that wanted to write war and peace as a reference for an employee he sacked for poor performance ( the employee was also porking the manager wife ) Manager reference request was declined by HR and Legal on the grounds that it would leave the company wide open from a legal point of view
