What to do in Pattaya or any other resorts if you can't buy booze?!

Learn some Thai so you can watch Thai love soap operas with your darling - some time in the future :<(

Watch YouTube and learn how to squeeze pimple. The opportunities are endless.

What is the point of a night curfew only? Right now at temple by my place they are having a big ol shindig. There are probably couple of hundred people down there sitting two inches from each other. I though there weren't supposed to be any social gatherings. But I can't buy a <deleted> beer. LOL

They are all slipping each other bottles of whisky secretly maybe (with full permissions from Buddha) ??

Interesting discussions on Aussie TV how the world has totally overreacted to Covid19 but politicians don't have the guts to admit their mistake. Turns out the costs of suppressing the flu far outweigh the benefits.

Oh really. I haven't heard anyone say that. You are making this up or misinterpreting what you heard. Your quote "Turns out the costs of suppressing the flu far outweigh the benefits" Are you kidding ??? covid-19 is NOT the flu !! and the costs outweigh the benefits?? That's a rather callous view and not appreciated by the thousands of relatives that have lost loved ones.

The infection rate of 9 people a day is hardly a pandemic. There is no reason to have this state of emergency apart from people who come into Thailand

Social distancing seems enough to keep covid19 at bay. The Government is simply scared to make the decision to lift the lockdown.

Quite rightly so. One person who is unknowingly a carrier of the virus can infect a multitude in a matter of hours. Then it's out of control ( more deaths) and lock down again. All countries are adopting a slow 'suck it and see' approach.

Stupid to make any prediction when so much is unknown about how the virus situation will go. Maybe they open their mouth in case people forget who they are

I wonder if the love affair with the Chinese is over or will they be happy with 2nd & 3rd wave covid-19 pestilence to once again infect the Thai's. Other countries won't be opening international borders until global infection rates are close to zero.

I know why I dumped him. IMHO he is mind numbingly boring, repetitive, argumentative and reading his posts was a waste of time, and I have better things to do with my time.

So when you said I wasn't your mate - I thought you were joking. I'm really cut up that you really mean it :<). So in your ' not so humble opinion  ' - I'm boring, repetitive, argumentative and all your replies have been a waste of your time ?? Because there are those that don't agree, and don't support my discussion - and a few other enlightened chaps that can see through this saintly ruse ??

I would dearly love to see Melbun in this same predictament one day, with a load of Thai watching him waste away ,slowly maybe, perhaps he is very wealthy or maybe just above comfortable. but of course he is on TV where a short while ago i asked where could we help? so now he joins the others who suggested i was no knight in shiny armour nor a guardien angel.damn good luck to these guys in cm,they may not get abmedal, but they can look at themselves in the mirror in the morning. proud of them,

Oh nasty, nasty fancy wishing that upon me. Bottom line is that all this

' goodness ' is nothing more than self  serving ego tripping. Thai's have been managing for eons without the help of ' dirty farangs '. They are not starving and many are over nourished. Maybe if they curtail the whisky and gambling they can save money.

Hahah show up their inadequacies, and you are liable to be on trumped up charges and given the boot out of Thailand. I have no time for self appointed would be saints. Let the Thais deal with their own problems. Lay low and mind your own business. Don't be the white knight on a salvation mission.

Also, Thailand is not deepest, darkest Africa where people are starving due to droughts. Yes, they may be doing it tough (like everywhere else). But look at the average Thai - many are quite over fed,  to the point of being obese. Clearly Thailand isn't 3rd world but quite a well to do developing nation, with plenty of wealthy people that should have the responsibility of looking after their own. Not someone with the saint complex handing out rations of rice. Sheesh.

Here you go all farang Samaritans that want to save the thais from starvation:

When you end up in jail there will not be any riot outside demanding your release same when your visa extension is denied because you are short 1 bath in the bank account.

Keep low and mind your own business.

Good man - I think all these Good Samaritans  are a bunch of old codgers trying to make merit for their misdeed with bar girls over the years. Now they feel guilty. Makes sense.

I know it is an allegory but you seem to think most Thais get enough to save for a rainy day though most of them don't get that much.

I and most Thais are not interested in what other countries are doing as the thread is about Thailand and the Thai people.

Also I am not your mate.

I would love to be able to solve the problem but I cannot as I am not a Thai person nor do I have any power.

What I do think is that this government is long on words and short on action, yet they punish people who try to help others. Just the sort of thing to bring happiness and reconciliation to the Thai people.

Not my mate you say ?? oh I'm really cut up about that . Not interested about what happens in other parts of the world ?? Only interested in Thailand ? Oh dear, then you've obviously been there too long, become myopic and don't appreciate cultural diversity (have you also become xenophobic like Thai's ?) In essence, I think  you are like the Thai government 'strong on words but short on action'. Ok Einstein what is the solution ?  Allow everyone to go back to work and risk their health and spread infection OR a benefactor  giving away bags of rice ?? Don't answer - had enough of your nonsense.

    Teach them what?

How to get a job? Many of them had jobs and incomes brfore the government in all its wisdom??? decided to shut most places down?

How to pay the rent and at the same time provide for their families with no money coming in?

You can't teach them to fish if they have no money to buy the bait and there are no fish in the sea.

It's an allegory - Lessons in life >>> saving for a rainy day, ensuring you have food in the house, learning to have the skill set.

Quote: ' before the government in all its wisdom??? decided to shut most places down ' - shouldn't you say 'governments' plural. In case you don't know, just about everywhere is shut down - and the governments did it ' in their wisdom ' to protect it's citizens from potential death. It's a problem vastly bigger than a few sacks of rice. Mate: don't point your moralistic finger at me - you solve the problem.

Let me add that because of the thai lifestyle, Buddhism and the fact that in the Asian world we would never accepted you as one of them its absolutely not a foreigners business to interfere with anything here. Its Karma in their believe and no one expect the old farang to feed the thais in need. Keep your head low. They already think covid 19 is spread by farang. Look at what happens to africans in China. Same mentality here. They are very superstitious.

Yep - how true - stay below the radar. Never show off to them, nothing wrong to shout someone a beer but ........but........but....... don't place yourself in the position as the self appointed provider. After all would you give to all the needy beggars, sadly NO for your own self preservation. In an ideal world everyone should not be needy. Just go to the Philippines and start giving things away to all that have needs. You will be stripped to the bone like a piranha would do. Impossible.

All their soap operas are portrait in incredible wealth but thais never look at other thais with greed or envy even though this wealth come from corruption. Fascinating is it not? Maybe they think it karma that they are rich but same mentality is not applied on the old farangs hard earned pension.

Haha OR maybe they are jealous of anyone richer than them. They are human as well as Thai. They suffer the same foibles as anyone else when viewing people richer than themselves. Quote: "but thais never look at other thais with greed or envy even though this wealth come from corruption" hahah No I don't suppose HiSo's look down on Isaan folk ?? Laughable.
