while the government have surely dropped the ball, people are travelling less for "smut" either way.

Millenials are <deleted> each other and the incels that would be all over it are afraid or unable to travel to foreign shores.

those that have traditionally flocked to pattaya are ageing fast.

i have seen an increase this year of friends and friends of friends traveling this way. they are coming for islands like koh phangan, or doing wakepark tours of bkk and phuket. they are all 30-45 and are travelling for lifestyle and activities now and pattaya is not on the radar.

they want proper massages, good food, beaches, sunsets, hikes etc.

A good night out involves proper music, cocktails and dinner. Many are vegan, but all are willing to spend on food. the bars may be a curiosity but certainly not a priority.

10 years ago, people i know might have had a few days in pattaya on the itinerary, but I cant think of a single visitor through my doors that has had plans to go to pattaya for something other than business in the last 5+ years

many things have changed. Pattaya really hasnt.

Well I don't know how you have concluded that "people want proper massages, cocktails, vegan meals and the bars are just for curiosity" . And you are saying this will draw tourists from many different countries and families. Are you living on planet Earth ?? We are talking about planet Pattaya - it's a world of it's own - unique.

Note to all bar owners. If you want customers, this is how ALL waitresses should dress.

Trouble is : all the guys walking around in the restaurant would look like zombies - arms in front of them - with hand cupped out at chest level, as if drawn to two huge magnets and flag poles in their trousers (unable to sit down). All with glazed over eyes.

I always reuse the plastic shopping bags as waste bags. So now i will have to buy plastic waste bags and throw those away instead !!

Just what I said. Also, my biggest gripe is that thick plastic wrap around some kitchen gadgets or electrical items etc . You know the wrap I mean. The one that's almost impenetrable except for a jackhammer or dynamite.

The worst offenders are the small street vendors, 2-3 plastics bags for sauces, 2-3 bags for salad and meat, then one more to carry all together. I cant see that stopping too soon, how are Thais going to carry their dinner home, Tupperware!!!!!!

Some places in the west put Chinese food in cardboard waterproof containers. Maybe the Thais can emulate them.

Technically the supermarket bags are not for single use as most of us use them for trash bags too.  I think the stores really need to effectively display and promote bags we can safely use for trash in the future. Throwing loose garbage and trash in our building bins is not a good option.

True - now you have to 'buy' plastic bags to put trash in. The replacement non single use plastic bags are a disaster - much thicker and instead of 100 years they take 10,000 years to degrade. Why hasn't someone been sensible and invented  single use, planet friendly (other than paper) bags that degrade and integrate into the soil or water?? money driven that's why.

It's all bull feces. Just a nice revenue earner for the supermarkets.

If Thailand put all its communication cables underground you would be amazed how different the place would look. but unfortunately, the government cant even police all the companies involved just to remove all the dead cables, they just keep pilling them on.

Underground cables ?? since when does any Asian country have tidy power cables? they thrive on chaos.

My guess is that most of the posters have never been in Thailand for longer than a two week mongering holiday in Pattaya ten years ago, yet seem qualified to opine on the values of the country. The vast majority of forum members do not reside in Thailand at all. It really confounds me why someone living in a bedsit in Croydon/Clacton/Newcastle even feels the need to read this forum let alone comment. Why would a 'normal' person do that?

Comprehension is seriously lacking as well. The lady got sentenced to three years jail as well as a not insignificant sum of money in compensation. The suspension of the sentence does not let her off from her crime, it is done frequently in the West as well.

To get diversity of opinion stupido !! Else if you are living there full time you won't see the wood for the trees and your opinion is extremely coloured.

Disgusting. Only about money for the deceased's family.

Surely the authorities have a duty to punish reckless driving harshly as it is (or should be) a key component in reining in potential bad drivers.

I have read about people getting actual jail time and larger fines for defamation.

The justice system here proving yet again what a shower it is. Pitiful, truly pitiful.

Money buys anything in Thailand. Absolution of sin, removal of responsibility, abbreviated jail sentences, compensation for 'grieving' relatives, pussy, judges, et al. It happens everywhere, but more open in LOS. Not that bad really (if you have money that is !!)

Congratulations.  You are telling bold face lies first off.

Second they are chasing out people that would like to spend money in Thailand.  Can't have that.

Third I ain't going back to Thailand.  I aint going to spend my money there to be treated like that.  Sorry not sorry!

Interesting - but to whom are you responding??

I hope you are including all the western countries and not just Thailand in your rant about bio-metrics because all the western countries have it including your own home country. So the bio-metrics in your home country is being sold/shared globally? So the Richard Craniums in their immigration uniforms and badges in your home country and all the other western countries should move along and do something useful to warrant their employment? What would you suggest that they do, open the borders to every piece of rubbish to travel to whatever country they want to without any checks?

Have they let you in?? - Where do you place yourself in the rubbish pile relatively speaking - top of the heap or the bottom ?? Many countries of course use facial recognition biometrics. Seems to be quite adequate for them. But Thailand had to go the full hog with fingerprinting + facial biometrics and God knows what else. But I guess there are more over stayers and criminals likely to invade Thailand. Now go back to your pile wise guy !!

Do you really need a biometric system to check how many overstayers are in the country???  A simple check of the  data compilation from all entry points would have found that!!!

It's to legitimise mining of data in the guise of catching criminals. NOT !! Probably all the biometrics data is being sold/shared globally. Can't these richard craniums in slick fitting brown uniforms and badges, move along and do something useful to warrant their employment. Is the average Thai concerned with over stayers ??
