Unlike the man in this thread. As well as having a 'plan' always have a plan B.

Thank you, my Plan A is to continue with Thai hospitals and Palliative Care, Srinakarin teaching hospital KhonKaen, I have regular appointments in fact one today and eventually die peacefully here in Thailand, I have a very caring Thai wife of 12 yrs

My palliative care unit will do home visits if required and administer pain killers by injection if required, I registered with Palliative care three years ago and hope one day to become their longest surviving patient, rooms at the hospital for in patient care are also very affordable

Maybe I have only months left or maybe years who knows

Every day is a new day, I struggle to walk but can still drive, unless I am too high on medication, when my wife drives, our disabled sticker on the car means security at the hospital look after the car when we are there

    Thank you God

Yep your right coz I just done it .. Took a year and you better be online savvy and dying because it’s a nightmare .. 5 days before I actually got NHS approved I had to go to A&E .. Arrived at 13.00 and was seen by doctor at 03.00am the next day ..  now there is a fact of being a returning expat

For Uk passport holders born in the UK, who have paid ALL their National Insurance contributions (whichI have done) also with a NI number, arrive in UK transported by ambulance to A&E, direct from airport and make the following statement, I am permanently back in the uk, have no intention of leaving, currently neither have UK address nor GP, THE SYSTEM WILL ACCEPT AND DEAL WITH YOU, even if wait might be a long time, and not as comfortable as Thailand.

A Thai bank statement showing receipt of your UK pension may also help

Personally I am in this category and hope I never have to resort to it, but its there as a failsafe, 45 mins before landing create a medical emergency so you are met by ambulance. and before boarding have a doctors letter confirming at that time you are fit to fly, so you are not refused boarding, have a clause saying you have high blood pressure from time to time but your medication controls this also request long leg room close to toilet as prostate necessitates many toilet trips, also no leg cramps, I a;ways get this each time before flying, as when going to check in in wheel chair questions will be asked

Arrive in UK first get a new GP it will all take a while and be time consuming, especially if you need housing as well

WHATEVER YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE A PLAN

  3. No doubt there will be criticism of my comments

I am 76 have three lots of cancer, and no medical insurance. I choose not to return to uk at present, I am getting very low on funds

Stupidity to spend 80,000 on flights

Seems to me he is in hospital here and caring here is wonderful, they are unlikely to put him on the streets

I choose to be here have a longterm thai wife and if I die here thats life

I have a sort of plan if well enough get myself on a plane and then A&E and full time care, I am fully paid up on NI contributions

Why not just accept and die here, seems to me people trying to profiteer from his unlucky situation

UK Embassy will advance reasonable loan to get him home, but family eventually pay

NEED TO STAY POSITIVE SITUATION OF HIS OWN MAKING

I wrote to the UK ambassador today and received the following

    Dear Mr Bayne

I raised with the Prime Minister in person today (as well as Health Minister). He confirmed to me equal access to all for vaccines, including British nationals here, as just announced earlier today by the Government spokesman. We will continue to press the point.

  5. 1 am 76 currently suffering, colorectal cancer, (colostomy bag), prostate cancer, had holep surgery a few years ago, and PSA again on way back up ,I also have severe skin cancer,  I am registered with Srinakarin Palliative care unit, KhonKaen

Below is a list of drugs they will prescribe, one can either attend as outpatient or request a  home vist and start at home care

    Srinakarin drugs.pdf

Last week I was prescribed Morphine sulphate 10 mg 90 tabs

    Gabapentin 300 mg 60tabs

    Morphine IR 10 mg tabs

By the time of my second dose on the first night, I was hallucinating and having awful dreams, the next 24 hours I stayed in bed, and drank soda water water and lemon juice, and ate nothing except a small amount of chocolate, some yohurt and Honey

For the previous six  months I had been taking ibrofon and valium between 10 and 20 mgs, I get my valium no questions asked at the maybe the biggest pharmacy in KK, this was working OK for me but wanted to move to a more recognised approach

Currently I am recovering the side effects and talking it very easily, I will revisit Srinakarin Palliative care, in the next ten days

Srinakarin also wanted to put me onto medical marjuina ,  (I meet many of the requirements)but said they were were out of stock, they sent me to the clinic in KhonKaen, but was then told foreigners even if complying with the requirements can not buy

As a high risk covid potential I try to get a vacinnation but told foreigners not eligable

If you try intimidating YOU could be the one behind bars, be very careful how you proceed if at all. Say the wrong thing in the wrong place and you have "defamation" staring you in the face.

VERY EXCELLENT ADVICE, might just be the icing on the cake for the lady.and what she wants

I do not lend money occasionally I may make a donation to assist, and when the say I will pay you back, I just say not required please then use that money to help someone else

And keep in mind who now legally/officially owns the land and the houses, therefore who can legally indicate who inherits the land and the buildings (and all other items, vehicles, and whatever).

Assuming that you are not a Thai citizen you cannot own land, therefore you can't give the land to anybody verbally or in a will, because you don't own it.

That assumes the land title documents are in your wife's name, therefore it is your wife who must (in a will) indicate you gets the land.

As already said the Commercial code of Thailand * sets out who inherits what upon a Thai citizens death. But that's only in a case where there is no will. In other words the owner of any form of property can override the law by writing a will.

    Further:

Thai children (under 20 years old) can be included as beneficiaries in a Thai will.

Thai children (under 20 years old) can be the owners of land and buildings. Their names can be put on chanuts (Land Title documents).

Thai children includes luk krueng children (Mother is a Thai citizen, father is a foreigner, and opposite.)

The above can be children of any age up to 20 years old. On 20th birthday they are officially adults.

(* At the front of the forums section here on ThaiVisa there a section with a number of Thai laws in English, including the Commercial Code of Thailand.)

There is a dangerous amount of incorrect information, I am but a simple retired UK Chartered Accountant

Some points a foreigner can inherit land but not own it long term

If will in both Thai and English then it also has to be stated which language takes precedence in the event of dispute

May I suggest if you need major surgery do not allow Thai visas members to do it

If You require legal advice go to a properly qualified lawyer, and Yes most responsible people should have a will and executors and trustees, unless they are very conversant with the laws of intestacy, and for their own reasons do not wish to make a will, and there are some circumstances when this may be appropriate, but even before going this route a lawyers advice in WRITING should be sought

My wife's mother lost her appetite and was taken to the hospital. Sure enough she had a cancer tumor growing on her bile duct. It needed to be remove 'now' and to wait on the 30 baht coverage would mean certain death. Nearly 7 million baht and one month later, she still died. The surgery cost was manageable. The intensive care was expensive (who knew the surgery would be so difficult for her). They never told her she had cancer. She suffered, a lot, and I hope you don't over do too much. I do not regret helping, but do regret she didn't really get a choice.  If he doesn't want to go to the hospital, respect that.

    God Bless, so sad

I have three lots of cancer, and probably want no more surgery, did not have my last MRI, as I really do not want to know

I have a living will that does work in Thailand, and the doctors say thank you for letting them know my wishes also removes some responsibility from them

I also have palliative care, with a firm promise of no suffering from pain

If you use a VPN that has a US Netflix server you will get the content available to US customers.

Not all VPN''s have a Netflix server that works. It is the same as with BBC Iplayer, connecting to a UK server will most likely not work, as they detect you are using a VPN.

I'm told that when Netflix started in Thailand, there was a lot more content available on the US server, but that gap is getting smaller as new content is released

Thank you this is helpful, I used to use express VPN and they had dedicated servers in USA for Netflix, I switched to Vypr Vpn after several years and it works the best for me, I will enquire  which USA server to use, and then try thai netflix,

I will report back over the next few weeks

Happy Christmas Everyone, we are very fortunate to be happily here in Thailand

Netflix has been brilliant for 3 months or so. Now I'm struggling to find something worth while watching. New movies or series seems to be very few and far between.

Why are they trying to push 'Rosemary's Baby' on to me? Nearly every time I finish a movie it always seems to be one of the three recommendations that pops up. ????

    https://www.iheart.com/content/2020-11-18-how-to-unlock-hidden-movies-shows-on-netflix-with-secret-codes/

Currently I am not a netflix subscriber, I used to be in the USA and used a VPN here to get it for various reasons I gave it up

I have been told if one subscribes to Netflix Thailand and uses a VPN with the USA as an address it will automatically give access to all the USA content, CAN ANYONE SHED ANY LIGHT ON THIS

This is definitely wrong. You're entitled to treatment from the day you arrive providing you can prove that you've returned permanently. See:

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-nhs-when-you-return-to-live-in-the-uk

This is correct, you do not even have to provide proof you are returning permanently, JUST MAKE THE STATEMENT YOU HAVE RETURNED PERMANENTLY, remember your govt pension will also be increased maybe you can contact pensions office in advance to speed this up, they are pretty helpful on the phone

Good luck, I hope to avoid this but if all else fails that would be where I would have to go
