The doctors fee at Srinagarind Hospital in KK is 50 baht.
Terry
Also avoids waiting time, which can at Srinakarin be substantial, sometimes 2 hrs plus, sometimes not long, actually use the form from Chulalongkorn
Sometime invoices add nursing charge even if none, I have many many 200 plus invoices from both Chulalongkorn and Srinakarin, and paid a big sum in medical, maybe 1.5 M !!
Saving waiting time also good
We have our own parking space at Srinakarin !, disabled by new building almost always available

Will be a guide no doubt for other govt hospitals
Half the cost of any KK private hospital
Test done at 8.30 am results can be collected two hours later, two locations for blood tests
Need to be registered there and get doctors form for tests, we use form from Chulalongkorn BKK and generally they will accept this
REDUCING BLOOD TEST COSTS FURTHER additional observations
I need regular blood tests has been every three months, now, every six, so as to keep costs done I use quality colour photocopies of lab order and avoid the doctors costs each time
I then check results myself and so long as no significant movement since previous one do not need to consult doctor
I also have trends over a lengthy period
My PSA is of particular interest, after some surgery, it dropped three years ago to nearly zero, now it is well within the accepted levels but the tests show the speed it is increasing at is going up, a sign that all is not well

Have banked with BKK bank many years, the staff in their KhonKaen branch are very very helpful and attentive
However the new Be 1st Mastercard stinks, it was refused by Booking.com I after several hours and a branch visit was promised a call it never came, generally the Bangkok Bank telephone service is very slow and seldom resolve the problem
I have two of these cards on different accounts and both were refused for small amounts at Singapore airport a couple of weeks ago
before I had the visa card and it worked very well but the Bank in its wisdom have chosen to discontinue it
Bangkok Bank is 30 yrs behind UK banks, we stay only because of the branch staff, who try so hard to be helpful, they are equally frustrated by the telephone banking, that they also appear to have to use, at least give them fast track access

I would definitely be asking the cruise company. They will be the ones who know what will happen in Phuket.
Do not rely on cruise company knowing, I have done this 3/4 times and generally I know more than the cruise company, and immigration officials in the ports often seem unfamilar with reentry permits, as are the ships agents who assist the immigration officers

Allow me to share my experience, from many cruises in the last ten years stopping at eithet Phuket or Ko Samui, and in the last three months have done this twice
Remaining on board does not work all passports stamped, and likely you will be stamped in and out on visitor visa, this will void either marriage or retirement extension
At both the above ports when immigration come on board I always ask to meet and check, often they will put the wrong stamp in, and remember this is Thailand, and immigration say if they get it wrong still our fault
Single reentry will not work, you will need a new reentry before leaving, and generally means going to the immigration office, can not be done on the ship
A multiple reentry can not be issued if a single reentry is still in place
If you are doing this and not sure PM me and I will give my phone number out

We thought we knew the rules, did our 10th marriage extn at KhonKaen this morning, and found we were not up to date on the rules
The marriage confirmation from local Ampur was rejected since it was not dated July, it was dated June 28 got replacement
400,000 Deposit, bank letter etc done BUT now told we can not touch it until our date for visa collection, (Sept 15 2019) this was never the case before, is there a government statement on this, we had promised builders this money this week, so effectively 400,000 tied up two months plus six weeks, if the money not there visa will not be issued. We were told by the boss lady very firmly, if we do not like it do not get visa extension
It is the sudden change in rules that is the upsetting point
We requested a copy of the rules and were ignored
I thought grandfather in rules meant that original rules kept going so long as no break in continuity
Any input appreciated
END OF STORY
Finally seven weeks after applying our extension is approved, no questions, no visits, just slowly and quietly goes through
Nothing was said about the 400,000 bhat still being there, it was, because the risk was too great but they never checked or asked
I also used the disabled bell and avoided the stairs at KhonKaen, and did multiple reentry they sent a trainee down to see me
Maybe next year I use an agent if anyone KhonKaen knows one please let me know the no stress for me

As long as the option is still available it beats the mountain of paperwork and uncomfortable feeling when visiting an immigration office for an extension
At 75 in poor health, I find immigration on marriage extension way too stressful
Even after ten yrs they always find something wrong, and also an immaterial item, my cash is always as required, we play the game and dress respectfully as well
All too often we are told if you do not like it leave, by some junior civil servant
I would willingly pay a reasonable amount to get rid of all this, like 5000 pa to an agent for renewal and 90 day reports,
anyone know of anyone needs to be KhonKaen

We all have such different opinions, and experiences
I have had to spend well in excess of 1.0m bhatt over the last few years, several major problems, and continue spending, I could not afford the private hospitals here, I pay myself
I have had some very excellent care, but you need to select your consultants with care
Many of the doctors work in both govt hospital and private, so equally you can get an idiot in a private hospital but coupled with a very large bill
A couple of years ago before some very major surgery, 13 hrs on the table, I asked the surgeon, probably the very top in Thailand, would it be better if he did the operation at the Bumringrad, would he have better equipment, he replied no, I had it done at a govt hospital, top keyhole surgery, a bill about 15% of the Bumringrad, and a private room on 15 floor overlooking Lumpini Park, with accommodation for my wife
The Queen mother regularly visits the same government hospital as I do, I believe she will only choose the best
Currently I have five consultants and use teaching hospitals in Issan and Bangkok
When using only private hospitals, I got negligent advice, from several doctors and was successful in getting good compensation, all these doctors work in government hospitals as well, and maybe the safeguards in government hospitals are better
My original country is the UK, and so far I believe I have received better care here than in the UK at very affordable cost
Its not what you pay that makes the difference but prior research you do

It's my turn in the mincer in a couple of weeks and I want to be as organised as possible, even though I know I'll be picked up on something.
So very true
In reality if you have not got a spare 400,000, for marriage and 800,000 for retirement extensions, you are substantially increasing the chances of hassle on renewal, and probably can not in reality afford to live here
I am married and choose to live here, and so have to accept their jealousy and unhappiness at us being here
This attitude by officials drives more to the illegal agents and benefits the officials colluding with them
Keep smiling it is only once a year, if this were the greatest problem I have I would be a very lucky man, which in any case I am

For what its worth I switched from retirement extn originally issued in Nongkai to marriage extension in KhonKaen No problem. about eight or nine years ago
However simplest solution must be to start again
Sorry you experience this hassle
Its sad because I believe the majority of us on marriage extensions are a positive generators of income to Thailand

I started this thread a week ago, because I was irritated at myself for not knowing the rules, and expecting hassle, I forgot to mention I even had to show original non o entry in an old passport
At the end of the day all accomplished and quickly, with a government official giving me a little hard time, my wife probably gets worse on a daily basis and she is a true angel
WE WERE NOT ASKED FOR ANYTHING WE COULD NOT WITH MORE EFFORT PRODUCE
When we go we take a big file even with spare photos, and all old passports, many original certificates etc
Keep smiling do not allow them to get under your skin or into your head

Never done TM 30 in 11 yrs her
When Thailand, wife always does Hotel checkin on her Thai ID card,( I normally wait in the car until she has done this and checked the room OK) seldom am I asked anything, if pressed give my pink Thai ID card
Annually do multiple reentry, and at airport on returning from trips aboard, give them our normal Thai address, I also have yellow book
NOTHING SAYS the above will be honoured or not changed, just go with the flow, remember dependant on which the day of the week you were born on different rules can apply to us all, ask my wife when she was born and her reply will be Tuesday period
And yes money NOW needs to be untouched until the marriage visa has completed the under consideration period, this was first time this year

Maybe no for retirement extension
Initially all done and in order
Then accident and motor bike driver dead
Police investigate, check visa, and ask where is the 400,000 you have to keep here all the time, and the account you use for extension
Maybe not such a good idea

I think it often depends on which officer you get as well... sounds like the OP got bitten when he complained with the old 'if you don't like it you can....'
You just have to be thick skinned and don't get lolled into a false sense of security...
We are well known in the office, big old man, dying of cancers, very cute, loving and helping wife, we turned up as always exceedingly well dressed both in Thai silk, with plenty of heavy gold on show. We are told dress well be respectful !! We often see them them all at one, restaurant, and I always buy them liberal supplies of whisky
The top female was also new, sorry not new in the young way of talking, quite long in the tooth but new to the position, unlike one a few years ago I did not see her new Black Mercedes parked outside, (she had probably hidden it from view)
The examining officer was new to us a female Major General so her photo said,(How she got to that rank is not for me to question) probably we made her jealous, not our intention, and she was looking for the non obligatory greasing of the wheels, that does not happen with us
Maybe we got what we deserved, but at the end of the day not so bad, mission was accomplished, and they are correct we have the option to leave at any time, as my friend Donald Trump tells the evil four congress ladies, so Thailand much the same as UK and USA so we should not judge Thailand badly

I also did my 10th Marriage extension last month (at Jomtien). For the last 9 applications I have submitted 3 photos of us together inside (2 photos) and outside (one), plus they take one at the immigration office of us together. This time, the lady said she wanted 6 photos. When I asked why, no answer. She processed all of the documents, and then said to bring the extra 3 photos in later the same day, or the documents wouldn't go to Bangkok. Plus, they visited the condo the next day, the first time in 10 applications.
We have never had a visit, however I am for some reason ! ! ! ! ! expecting one this time, however one of the photos, is my wife and I, and our four large alsations, we also have sign on locked gate beware alsations, they can be very fearsome, and act like a pack !
Interestingly the map we attach to the marriage extension, is a copy of the one that was rejected nine years ago, keep using same map just to prove the point, that time my wife hand drew a map for them, that was accepted

You are then going to be doing exactly what they want. More money to them.
Actually I would happily pay 12,000 for extension and multiple reentry on a zero stress basis, but they would still give hassleYesterday when my wife went to local Ampur they remembered she had only recently got the form from them they could not believe immigration being so difficultShe took the form back today, one of them asked her why were we selling our house, she remarked we were building smaller as I was very ill, one said could he buy it he liked the pictures, she replied yes its 44M, (TRUE) its on the internet, yes we are marked !!!!!!!- 2

Saw the Top lady and she gave us a copy of out KR2. Cost 40 Baht. They're on national data base. Then back to the second office. Showed the officer the Amphur authorized copy of our KR2 and was given the 60 day extension that I needed. Don't be afraid to stand up to these idiots is all I can say.
YES and on the National Data Base and immigration do not have access to this
Surely we deserve better
Does anyone use agents in KhonKaen, maybe pay up and avoid stress

We try very hard to abide by the rules, as do most of us.
Immigration make it so hard, and very stressful, a full written set of rules would clarify so much, and on the same form for extension, allow re entry permit, would be simpler easier and less time consuming for all involved
We get the extension then have to apply for reentry permit
But then as the Head Lady in KhonKaen very correctly and uncaringly, stated, if we do not like it we can go home, she is very correct
A lady married to a Thai man is treated very differently, and generally takes from the Thai economy
I spend/bring in on average over the last ten years 4/5 million bhatt a year, and have paid from my own money (and happily and appreciatively) very substantial sums to government hospitals here
The Real Estate agent who has our house for sale says we have one of the most beautiful, and expensive houses in KK, all built with money brought into Thailand
We support in Thailand, parents, children, in higher education, and three more full time employees, and their families, in our two houses and gardens
For those of you like me, who can only just climb/crawl up the very steep two flights of stairs, with the help of my stout stick, KhonKaen immigration has now added a bell and will come down to see you, a big improvement, I recommend you use it
There are two disabled parking spaces out side immigration, at the bus station
We write this in the hope maybe immigration might read what some of us say and feel
The waste of paper and damage to the environment is another story
In fairness this is the first time in ten years we feel so badly treated, we do not tip money, but have given presents in the past, when we return from frequent trips

I had holep surgery in India, centre of prostate removed, 3 1/2 yrs ago, then cancer found, in prostate and else where, three months chemo and radiation at Chulalongkorn, all cancer gone but returned six months later, at present all quiet, but prostate continues to grow slowly, at 75 probably not a big deal, PSA back to 2.5 but doubling every six months, I was 72 when operated on, should have had prostate removed, but Thailand said no cancer there, chose to have no more chemo, and not have colostomy bag reversal, I will talk by PM to anyone who has these problems
Thailand very good on some cancers but way behind India on Prostate, I also pay all my own bills, and am cost conscious so long as it does not compromise quality
