Normally there is little or no pain for root canal treatment in my experience (and have had many) unless still have an abscess.  But I normally have a fairly high pain threshold so expect it can be painful for some.  With an abscess it is smelling salt for revival time if doing much of anything.

I have very low pain threshold and need valium as well for root canal, have had horendous pain experiences over the years

we all have different levels of pain tolerance

I think reality is that most of us have people near us with a car. Tell your neighbors that you need to go urgently to the hospital and there should be someone who will help you. If necessary give them 1000B tip.

Disagree have a few already advised one day you might need them, tell them in advance you will pay 5,000 to 10,000 , MONEY MOTIVATES, and maybe you are still alive

  4. Many contradictions

Proposals put forward by transport minister Saksayam Chidchob to DLT officials and the police say that Thai drivers will only be banned when they have accumulated 100 points on their licences, claimed a section of the Thai media.

According to points already proposed this would mean having to be caught drink driving a staggering 25 times before you would be off the road for a year.

Alternatively you could go through 50 red lights or go the wrong way down a road 50 times before being banned.

You would have to flee the scene of an accident 34 times before losing your licence.

Or drivers could look at their phone 100 times or motorcyclists could ride on the sidewalk or not wear a helmet 100 times before they were obliged to put the keys away for a year.

MThai.com said this was all part of encouraging Thais to be better drivers. Saksayam is making the proposals to the Department of Land Transport and the Thai Police, they claimed.

The media also said that when 100 points is reached a driver could take the test again and get a new licence. But if they amassed 100 more points that would be it - a lifetime ban from driving.

German and Swiss testing procedures are also being studied to upgrade the Thai driving test, they reported.

MThai.com said that the following points system applied:

One point: Using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, riding on the sidewalk

Two points: Going through red lights or going the wrong way

Three points: Organizing street racing, fleeing the scene of an accident or driving under the influence of drugs

Four points: DUI and driving while intoxicated with 200mg of alcohol in the blood and causing injury or death

Thaivisa cautions that this report - and its interpretation by us here - makes a stark contrast with previous proposals to ban drivers after they amass just 12 points.

The claim about getting 4 points for 200 mg of alcohol seems odd, we further note, as the limit for DUI in Thailand is just 50 for experienced drivers.

  5. Nice to know I am not the only one concerned about kids and motor bikes, the first bike lasted six months before I finally took it back and sold it, he was refusing to wear crash helmet all the time, removing mirrors, disconnecting mile meter so could not monitor and going outside agreed set limits

At the same time he was banished to temple for two years

When he came back he went to hotel school, on a push bike, for the first year, recently got him a nice motor bike again and so far so good, he is respecting the rules most of the time

We do not want him killed like many other young kids

I still think about a GPS, or maybe just tell him one is fitted and well hidden !

  6. An observation, Dr Art Hiranyakas, is a top colorectal surgeon,  he is based at Bangkok Hospital in Phuket, he trained with Dr Chucheep one of the very best, Art chooses to live in Phuket, because he says quality of life is better there for his family, you can also have a consultation with him in BKK at Bangkok hospital, where he attends on a weekly basis

When I consulted with Art, the estimates in Phuket were many many times higher than Chula BKK

  7. Follow Sheryls advice, and do NOT pay local bill ( suggestion only) if it is a govt hospital, say get back from my local hospital, 30 BHatt scheme

Thais generally do not know the rules, I was about to be hit for step kids dental costs, until I said how do their friends manage these bills, local hospital has dentist four days a week,  kids now go there, my wife goes there as well, regular maintenance covered
