  1. The 60k is for the over 65 taxpayer, plus a further 60k for spouse. Un/fortunately we are not married, so maybe I shall have to pay 5% of 60k = 3000 more tax. Cheaper than a wedding!
  2. And of course, the inanimate tree was in the wrong place.
  3. Did you not do maths at school? So easy to do this calculation. Example no.1 65k x 12 = 780k. Minus any allowances, say 190k = 590k, on which you should pay tax at the going rates of 150 @ 0%, next 150k @ 5%, then 10%. Example no. 2, my case. 40k x 12 = 480, minus 190k - 60k = 230k, of which 150k is at 0%, leaving 5% tax to pay on 80,000 = 4000 per year.
  4. I disagree. 'Money coming into Thailand' means exactly that. How much I leave in my home country bank, give to charities, spend on horse racing, is none of their business. And after a visit to my local tax office, nothing about the source was asked, simply how much I transfer.
  5. Just got back, with a Tax ID, same number as on my Pink Card. with assurance that, in my case, transferring 40k per month = 480k per annum, after 190k + 60k + 150k all at 0%, I shall have to pay Bht4000 for the year. There was some mention of 100k being deductible for expenses. As we are not married, I cannot claim 60k for my Mrs, but possibly some for the school fees I pay for my Mrs's son, he will let me know. Where the money comes from, pension, interest, sister's immoral earnings, is of no matter. It is simply how much is/will be transferred from UK to Thailand in the specific tax year. As I am only getting UK State Pension @ £170 per week = £8840 and a small one from Norway, my total UK income is £10400, below the Tax Free Allowance, so no tax due in UK either. I am happy with this.
  6. Thanks Mike. I hope this is correct. I am going to my local tax office right now to confirm it. If it is so, then I have no worries whatsoever.
  7. In UK, the first £12570 is at 0%, NOT tax free. After that it is at 20% up to something like £37k. In Thailand the threshold for 0% is up to Bht 150,000 or about £3350 and then various rates up to 35%. So if I import Bht 40,000 per month = Bht 480k= £10720, on which I have 'paid' 0% tax according to UK tax law, would I still be required to pay any tax in Thailand? I read on here that over 65s get a 60k allowance plus and extra 190k at 0%. Is this correct please?
  8. Does a DTA mean that if tax is paid in say , my country UK, I do not have to pay here.? My example is for money coming into Thailand irrespective of any DTA.
  9. 30600 a year = 2550 per month from your 65k isn't too bad, about 4%.
  10. So for someone sending 65k per month = 780k per year, they will only pay tax at the 5 & 10 % rates on 380k?
  11. Very nice to know. Have you got links to this please, so I can show the Tax & Immigration people in December. Thanks.
  12. Like buying rounds in the pub.
  13. I did and that was the conclusion I came to. Am I right or wrong that the 190 is on top of the 150? @Dogmatix seems to agree with me.
  14. OFF TOPIC. Please do not mention CARABAO, the only Cup which Man City did not win last season. 5555
  15. My local, Bang Rakam, post office does not.
  16. Just watching World at War on iPlayer. Good series.
  17. Monty Python, The Two Ronnies and Fawlty Towers.
  18. Sorry for my mistake, I just phoned Susie Dent and she told me that your definition is also correct. Nicking, pilfering, half-inching are also acceptable. Cheers.
  19. You are obviously going to a crappy pizza place, aimed at Thais. There are quite a few good ones especially in Falang areas, but I never paid Bht 600 for one.
