Have you noticed if the red light come on on your router when the drop out occurs which afaik indicates a local problem between your router and your connection their main line.
In our case a squirrel had bitten through the outer line casing according to the engineers because they like the taste of the 'fluid' encasing the optical fibre.
Their explanation, not mine, but replacing the whole cable worked.

K Per, OP is talking about interruptions to supply or 'drop outs' not speed (apart from WhatsApp sometimes being slow)

I am with True and live in Plai Laem Soi 4. Not sure if this helps but we haven't noticed any problems here recently.
(our line comes direct from the main road).

bikes are 500 baht, clamped cars are charged 1000 baht. I KNOW! ☹️

Samui is at maximum number of flights now - 50 in and 50 out.
First flight out at 06.45.
And the roads are a battleground.
Allow extra time for journeys.
The road from Choengmon to departures at the airport is still flooded.
Almost knee deep. I had to push the bike through the last 10 metres. Soon dried out though.
Only large 4 x 4 trucks were getting through. (And one crazy Brit on a bike.)
For anyone driving to departures/ Bkk Airways booking office from Bangrak market area it is easiest to enter through the arrivals barrier and take the narrow road from there to departures. Many folk including taxis are doing that now. Also, you can enter/exit through either of the barriers, all cards are accepted at either one.

Irish Times. Pigs liver sliced thin and really tender comes with bacon, fried onions, mashed potato and spinach. Goes well with a pint of Guinness.

If you want to book with a niche airline no doubt your experience is real.
There are plenty of other flights available on the many consolidaters sites last time I looked.
As for it being busy that's a subjective statement.
There is only one airline that flies BKK to Samui and that is Bangkok Airways, not only niche, but ''Boutique" 🤪.
The one way flights with a Samui residents card cost 2,700 baht, a price you will not see offered on their website if you don't have a card.
I challenge you to find a similar price on any 'consolidaters' website.
(Tut tut TE, bet you don't forget next time) 😅

Walking Street market, Fisherman's, Bophut many on sale last time I looked but they are there for tourists to buy so may be overpriced if you are buying quantities.

I think there is a computer shop just past Makro going towards Lamai, can't remember its name.
They fixed my Macbook Air just around pre-covid, happy with repair and cost.

In the end I didn't get it as I didn't have a CC with me to pay. Not a big deal as it turned out the card costs 400 baht and is valid only for 2 years. If purchasing tickets well in advance the price is probably better than using the card.
Not so gearbox, fare with a resident card is generally around 2,700 baht to Bangkok one way. No matter how far in advance you book you are unlikely to get anything like that rate. You save the cost of the card on your first flight.
(You also get priority on standby in case of emergency).
I'm interested in what you needed to produce to qualify for your pink card though, (even though you say you didn't get one), please share, it will help others I am sure.

Agreed, gone way off topic.

Correct richard, this IS one way to prove you are a Samui resident, that is how I got my card, but reading the OP it would appear he will not have a yellow book and pink card. Just for interest, my wife also got her card on production of our marriage certificate even though her ID card shows she is resident elsewhere. (We do live together on Samui) 😉.
Can Samui, maybe it is worth buying a blank lease document (10 baht at a stationery shop) and asking your wife to fill it in and showing you have a long term (2 or 3 or more years) tenancy at the address you are living at and take it to the airport and see what they say. Worth a try.
Agreed, this thread has gone way off topic.

Not sure if you will get much help after that unnecessary response to someone trying to help, however, may I suggest you go to the Bkk Airways ticket office at the airport.
They are very friendly and told me what I needed and even took photos of all the necessary documents and uploaded them for me, after which my application was successful.
Not saying you hold the necessary documents (which I did have) but at least you are talking to a human who will help you and not just filling in their forms online.

It's just not good enough!
I transferred £1k a few minutes ago got 46.79 thb rate plus £7.26 charge.
They said it would take 28 minutes to receive but it actually took only 21 minutes.
How inaccurate and unreliable is that???

Thanks Te. Scope here for an ambitious entrepreneur maybe ?

Are there any care/residential (not nursing) homes for the elderly on Samui?
My Google search so far has found only 2 sites, PP Homes and Diamond Care.
FYI, the Diamond Care Home does not exist, it has not even been built despite having a website and phone number which takes one to Diamond Pool Villa on the airport road.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Yes they've been doing it regularly for some weeks now with bikes on the red and yellow checked pavement area on the village corner, 500 baht to release.
My car got clamped last week, NOT on the no parking bit and after the 7/11 but they alleged my car was on the pavement (it was not but one wheel slightly on the sloping bit), 1000 baht fine to release it, I asked for a receipt but was refused. Really? 😉
I was offered and accepted a lift back from the cop shop to my car by the police on a motorbike, I said I don't have a helmet but he said no problem, not needed at night, only daytime!!!

Mostly foreigners in our experience.
Europeans and Indians. (Half term/Easter in most of Europe)
Some Thais with overseas boyfriends/husbands meeting up with family.
And as there will be a 3-5 day National holiday (Songkhran) soon, the Thais will be arriving here en masse in about a week's time, so once again many hotels will have full capacity.
Fortunately, the actual 'enjoyment' of water throwing lasts for only one day here on Samui unlike the rest of the country where it can last for up to a week.

Agree 100% with TE, the island is buzzing and packed with tourists.
One strange phenomenon though, the expat bars in and around places like Bangrak are strangely very quiet and have not seen their clientele return since Covid.

Please DM me if you are interested in playing and would like further details.

Makes perfect sense. The guy being quoted is a Swiss national and is talking to a Swiss news outlet therefore talking Swiss Francs.
Fair point. So they were offered the equivalent of 410 baht.

So, the passengers were offered 10 francs on their return to Bangkok having been on a flight from Thailand to Germany
The Thai currency is the baht, the German currency used to be the Deutschmark (until 1999) but is now the Euro and the French currency used to be the franc (as mentioned in the report) until 1999 but is now also the Euro.
Why were the passengers offered francs FFS?
Typical Daily Mail drivel.

Am I missing something here?
Surely if he is married (OP calls his partner his wife) then for a start he only needs 400k baht in his bank not 800k baht, something which seems to have been missed through 6 pages of comments.
(Sorry if I missed a post pointing this out).
My 400k is lodged in a savings account IN MY NAME ONLY (as required by immigration when I go for my annual marriage extension) in a Bangkok Bank Savings Account (No debit card, but get a small amount of annual interest).
I went to the bank a couple of years ago and filled in forms together with my wife which according to the bank allows my wife to withdraw funds (without needing my signature) both before and after ones death. (Yes, you have to trust your wife or lock away your passbook).
There was a charge (of course).
Sorry I can't remember any more detail about the forms or the process and am currently not in Thailand to find out more, but worth OP going to his bank and asking if this is possible for him.
Sorry it was not the OP who mentioned 800k baht, it was the next reply from MickTurator
An Idiots Guide to the Retirement Extension process at Samui Immigration Office
in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao

If it helps anyone, here are the latest requirements for Marriage extension at Samui Immigration.
And...yes papers should be submitted in same order as the list.
Method of applying same as mentioned earlier for retirement extension except you keep your passport and have to go back one month later for the stamp.
Also of course for the marriage extension there will be a visit to your home by officials soon after your application.
Edit - sorry for poor quality reproduction, best I could do.
