Where does this put DIY places like HomePro, Global and the like?
Or do we just have to wait until Sunday to see what's open?
Homepro on Samui is open and has been for over a week. Not sure if it has ever closed.
Sorry Crossy, just seen yours and subsequent posts.

Passport photo page, visa, entry stamp, extension stamp if any and TM6 departure card. Some offices may want a copy of every page that has a visa or stamp for Thailand on it.
Bank book first page and pages showing the 800k baht for 2 months.
Only original of the bank letter.
House book page one and the page that owner is shown on, a copy of their ID card and both will need to be signed by them. If renting you will also need a copy of your rental agreement.
Original TM7 form with the 4 X 6 cm photo attached.
Copy of most recent 90 day report receipt may be needed at some offices.
Joe, can you answer my problem please?
I want to apply for my first 12 month extension of my Non O single entry visa.
I think I have all the documents including the 400,000 in the bank needed except for the following.
I am a 49% shareholder/director of a Thai company (wife 41%, her brother 10%) which owns the house we live in. The blue book shows the company owns the house but neither my name nor my wife's is actually mentioned in the book.
I do have an up to date DBD form and proof of marriage.
I also have recent PEA and Truevision bills showing my name and address
So what will the IO need to see to prove where I live as I don't have a Thai landlord?
-
If it helps, these are the requirements at the Samui IO for a 60 day extension of a Non O single entry visa based on marriage. As said before these may of course differ from office to office.
-
Anything that helps preventing the spread is of course a good thing, but how about supplies of fresh foods etc. to supermarkets?
It's likely to cause panic buying and empty shelves, something we have so far avoided here on Samui.
Shipments of that type are bound to be excluded if true.

Considering a case of Covic was traced back to BKK Bank Pattaya walking street, seems a good move. Is opening a new account a necessatity at present
No

I tried to open a deposit account yesterday to put my 400,000 in to get the best interest rate (1.1%) at my Krungsri branch on Samui where I already have an account with a debit card.
I was told no new accounts until April 7th, for the safety of customers and staff yet they were happily conducting all other activities including depositing and drawing cash including foreign exchange where there may be a chance of spreading the virus from notes (unlikely I know).
Thai logic?

As I understand, ferry between Phangan and Samui is still running, is this correct?
Can tourist from Phangan take ferry to Samui, and fly to Phuket? (Phuket road acess is blocked, flights are still OK)
Asking this for friends stranded in Phangan (wishing to fly to Phuket, then to Hong Kong), I'm not familiar with PN & Samui.
There is a flight to Phuket tonight at 18.55
https://www.samuiairportonline.com/flight-status-departures/
https://www.bangkokair.com/Announcement/view/bangkok-airways-flight-suspension-table
So you may be able to get a flight until April 6th

With the reputation the British Embassy has I dare say they’re both charging and abandoning
The British Embassy replied and sent the letter to me within 3 days of the application and there was no charge.

Bangkok Airways have suspended ALL domestic flights from 7-30 April

I have just received my letter from the Embassy, 30 minutes after first sending me an email saying I did not need one.
Anyway they came good and after all and I suppose a 3 day response is pretty good for them considering the number of requests they must be getting.

What I got from the OP was that he went to extend a visa, got told that he cannot
do without a letter from his embassy that he is currently waiting to arrive.
That is not a question, more like a report of his experience.
It would be interesting to know if the embassy sends out these letters as that
seems to be the case in this instance.
The embassy have promised to send out these letters. As of now I have not received it despite it being promised within 2 working days.
This is their (automated) email reply having sent off copies of all required documents:
Thank you for your email.
This mailbox is for applications for the following consular services:
- Letter of support for visa extension applications: if you are eligible for this you will receive your letter within 2 working days;
- ED visa support letter
- Supporting letter for Thai Nationality application
- Consular letter relating to the death of a British National in Thailand (funeral directors only). A member of the team will be in touch with you as soon as possible to organise preparation and collection of documents.
IMPORTANT NOTICE The British Embassy Bangkok no longer issues letters confirming income. For information on what to do now, please visit our website or contact your nearest Thai Immigration Bureau or Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate.
So much for their promise!

How about a utility receipt, that is what I provide to obtain a residency permit and barring that I could take my updated company paperwork to prove I had a residence
Yes, you're right of course, utility receipts, all company docs. including last years company balance sheets etc., all in duplicate and signed. I will take all these and guess what, there will be something I have forgotten.

According to Tmoney's list, I will need rental contract, copy of household registration of current address, copy ID card of house owner, and copy of registration of house owner (tabbien baan, I guess). I have only the rental contract and not the last 3 items. Actually, I'm not sure what "copy of household registration" is...TM30? And I need the last two items to be able to do the TM30, is that not correct? Ugh...
To be honest I am totally confused as well, I don't rent, I (or more accurately my company, I am 49% shareholder) owns the house I live in so I am uncertain as to what SIO will demand to see when I go there.

Your wife and normal TM.7 extension application and copies of passport and marriage documents/fee. Expect they will want proof of living together such as TM30 report but can normally do at same time I believe (with perhaps a fine for late reporting). No financial proof is required.
These are the requirements at Samui Immigration office for 60 day extension of Non O 3 month single entry. I am waiting for the British Embassy to reply with letter of support. Promised within 2 working days. Yeah! Good luck with that.

So tomorow Sunday no walking market in Lamai ?
I doubt it. There was no walking street market in Fisherman's Village last Friday.
Sensible precaution.

For anyone interested, the Samui Times seems to be enjoying a renaissance.
Still some old news there, but I guess it will take time to bring everything up to date.
-
I too have seen these rumours via my wife's Facebook pages but frankly I think it is irresponsible to identify and post details such as copies of their passports here on Thai Visa.
There is no proof these are the two victims of the virus.
-
There is a computer repair shop recommended to me just before Lamedin traffic lights (going towards Lamai) on the RHS just after filling station. No personal experience though.

I too was offered the compulsory insurance at the testing station. According to my wife (and it later proved to be true), this is the same compulsory insurance you have to buy at the licencing centre before obtaining your licence.
(I am guessing they will get a commission from the insurance company from selling the policy to you).
It just means if you buy at the testing station you have to queue only once to get your licence after showing them you have already purchased the insurance.
(Approximate cost for this insurance can vary between 600 and 1200 baht I believe depending on the type of vehicle. Age does not come in to the equation).
This is third party insurance only and does not cover damage to your own vehicle.
I believe the insurance evadgib is talking about is the sensible (but not compulsory insurance) you should obtain to cover damage/injury to yourself and vehicle. This can cost between 5,000 and possibly more than 30,000 depending on the
age/model/manufacturer of the vehicle and indeed as evadgib says whether you choose 1st, 2nd or 3rd class cover.

Thank for clarifying the situation NL and Ubonjoe.
That looks like the way forward for me.
Can I assume the same paperwork is required?
Completed application form
Passport
2 photos
Signed copy of marriage certificate
Signed copy of wife's ID
5,000 baht in Cash
Anything else?
Edit, just seen your reply fourpack, thank you, very helpful.

Have things changed or not? I understood Savannakhet have been issuing a Non O 12 month multi entry visa based on marriage. (Something I have been getting for 15 years from London but now only 3 month single entry available).
But checking the Savannakhet website just now it appears they too are now only offering a Non O 3 month single entry visa too.
Or am I missing something here?
Is it possible to still obtain a Non O 12 month multiple entry visa based on marriage to a Thai anywhere?
