Most of the time but I got a bad case of food poisoning a few months ago from Street food where I had to go to the doctor. You have to be extra careful when eating street food.

The older retired expats I know in Thailand just want to be left alone to live the last years of their life there hassle free. The last thing they want to do is have to deal with intrusive Thai bureaucracy and having to compile, prepare and file taxes every year. Judging by the past actions of the Thai government with their visa rule changes, reporting requirements, past non enforced rules being enforced on a whim and now taxes, what would come next? Those who don't have a spouse and/or family here need to vote with their feet and find greener pastures.

Then in a year or so they will change the rules back causing chaos once again. Thailand truly is the land of rug pulls.

Exactly, Thailand is always trying to move the goal posts with visa rule or reporting changes and now with taxes. For any prospective people looking to retire to Thailand, I say run far away and find another country to retire to, you won't find peace of mind here due to a constantly meddling Thai government.

Thailand Land of Smiles should actually be called Land of Fake Smiles, I've seen the fake smiles enough times in 12 years of visiting/living in TL.

Regardless of the poor wording, the intent is clear, this will be a big money grab by the current Thai administration at the expense of Expats who are Tax Residents of Thailand. The Baht threshold can always be changed by this administration at their whim and they will do it at some point.

I've eaten there at least 20 times. Both the Chicken (50 Baht) and the Beef Khao Soi (55 Baht) are good and the Beef Guay Tiew (50Baht) is good as well. Not as busy if you go early around 8:30 AM or after the lunch hour rush after 2:30 PM, though sometimes they sell out of dishes in the late afternoon.

Would one need to get another set of Shingrix shots after 10 years?

I recently got both Shingrix shots in the States a couple of months apart. Shingrix was the only vaccine that I've ever experienced difficulty with. I had a very very sore arm for three days with the first shot, the second shot wasn't as bad and I experienced some mild pain for 2 days. If it prevents me from coming down with Shingles, then I guess it was worth it. The nurse who administered the shot did mention that a fair amount of people do experience varying degrees of pain with the shot.

Staying in different areas for a couple of days each is a good idea. A couple of days each in the old city, Nimman area, and perhaps near the Central Airport Mall or a little further down in Hang Dong.
