Please, for obvious reasons, this topic can't be focused on sex tourism or sexpats. There are specialized forums for people that want to discuss that in detail. Not here.
Gentlemen the OP is trying to have a meaningful serious debate here.... (some chance!)..... Get wiv it, if there is no nookie most of us on this forum are not going. End of.

How many times have we seen this before? Farang looks for diamond in bucket of Asian shit and wonders why he is not finding? He expects to find a good girl in a bar and not pay for it.
Get with it. Whether she's good or bad, woman will always cost you money. All men are slaves to their dicks. Girls know it and it has cost man ever since.
Usually when the money runs out the girl runs out, so you can test em this way. However, there are notable exceptions to the rule so explain you really like her and give her a chance.
See it from her point of view. What would you do if you were a poor Thai girl from Issarn?

It is usually true that you can take the girl out of the bar, but you can’t get the bar out of the girl.
Having said that, it’s not typical bar girl behavior to go shopping and reject your money.
Either she is genuine or she is planning on hooking you for something bigger.
Then again, you could marry a western girl who will legally get half of everything you own come the divorce.
Enjoy the ride.

Is there anyone who has been here that long without a break where they left Thailand?

Lots o luck proving you've been here continuously that long! Not to mention having kept a record of your bank accounts that long! Another well thought out ruling by Immigration.

That's the "grandfathering ruling" from older applicants before the 800K came in as needed sum..... some are still alive
I am sure I read somewhere that the applicant has to have been here continuously without a break since that date?

Next day Jim again took us to Thai consulate to pick up our passports.
It's a long time since I did the Penang run but there used to be agents in most hotel lobbies that would do the visa for you for a small fee whilst you stayed in bed. No need to go to the Consulate yourself.

Anyone got Big Jokes e mail address? Time he realized the problems he's causing for his own Thai people too, many of whom depend on us farang.

Not as I understand it. You don't have to bring in an extra 800k every year, you just have to maintain that balance for purposes of visa.

someone already made a very good point earlier - what if you need this 400k baht suddenly for an emergency - medical for example, what happens then ?
This has not been thought through - there must be exceptions for emergencies
This is part of the problem .... they never think things through. They are pushing us to the point where one considers other countries.

Do not laugh ... it's my dream ????
If everyone on this forum contributed their 800k we might afford an island. There comes a point where the visa regulations / costs / pollution / traffic jams cause one to leave. Put it another way, is the pleasure worth the pain?

The problem I have with Thailand is the lack of stability, one never knows when the idiots are going to change the law or what ridiculous requirements there will be. Sad thing is, It's still better than where we all came from!

I am not clear, is there still the option of a fixed Thai bank deposit of 400K or 800K as an alternative, same as exists now?
Basic problem with the Thais is they come up with these new rules without considering if they will work or not. I am tired of having no stability or surity of Visa with the Thais.
One can always consider other countries but they all have restrictive Visa rules, so where does one go?

Wait till the Thais think the Chinese are taking over, buying up their country. Then see what happens to the immigration regs.
