Yes, methane is odourless, but one would assume the 'gasses' leaking from a septic tank would be methane combined with other 'digestive' gasses and odours.
However is the smell coming from the septic tank.?
Most larger Thai cities have deep sewage systems, obviously not so in the country.
Is the poster located in a city or the country.
If in a city the smells may well be coming from the covered street gutters, these are basically drainage channels covered by a small concrete slabs with 1 or a series of small holes.
Thais use these covered gutters as drains for anything they choose to pour down them, and poor slope on them means grey water/sludge just sits there to stagnate, and stink.Monsoonal rains would tend to wash these gutters out, thus flushing away the stagnant grey water/sludge, if the air clears for a several days and then the smell returns, it would suggest that indeed these gutters are responsible.!

Doi Inthanon, Yep, I'd 'second that motion', best chance of clear sky there, and there's accommodation near by.!

I believe an IDP is not required, just a valid driving licence, from western countries that drive on the left.
May not be the case for US driving licence as they drive on the wrong side of the road.
Quote from: www.travelonline.com › thailand › drivingDriving in Thailand can be done by tourists as long as you hold a valid driver's license in English from your country of origin or a valid International driver's license.

Just listen to any Izuzu baht bus (songkeu) that's done a few miles, the rattle bang crash noises coming from the engine will tell you the Ford 3.2l 5cyl was just so much better, I'll be sticking to my Ford Ranger/Mazda BT50 and giving the new Mazda Izuzu a big miss thank you....!

Very sorry for the woman.!
She is a Ukrain, not Ukrainian, just like people from Argentina are Argentine, not Argentinean, just because Americans use a word does not make it correct.
Pity they teach American English in Thai (inian) schools..!- 6

An appropriately constructed narrow gauge track is capable of taking speeds up to 140 - 150km (Perth Western Australian suburban trains run up to 120 - 130 km on narrow gauge) it would be great but I can't see that happening in Thailand.

Could be rust, looks like it, common disease of grasses.
Not easily cured, but can be prevented by use of (spray) wettable sulphur.

Always ensure there is an air gap around the downlight (no insulation covering them over), you would have noticed on the older halogen type this air gap was around the reflector/bulb itself and another around it's holder/gimbal and thus would need to have been implemented above the light (through the insulation) to be effective.
The same applies to LED downlights but to a lesser extent as the heat generated by them is less.
NEVER cover them over with a terminal box as it stops the airflow, this is why no terminal boxes are supplied with the light.
LED lights can and do overheat, and can catch fire just as a halogen one can, but most often from the electrical control unit not the LED itself.

It's a rarity, but it does happen.
Maybe 1000 people killed on Thai roads for 1 lightning strike.
Mobile phones attracting lightning is just <deleted> (or as Trump would say - fake news),
but the best place to hide would be beside/under a steel mobile phone tower as they are very well earthed, thus conducting the lightning strike safely to ground without harming you (except perhaps leaving you temporarily deaf from the loud sound and maybe with brown underpants too). The Thais would be better off building their little paddy field shelters from steel, not bamboo, then the effect would be the same as with a steel mobile phone tower, earthed to take away the strike to ground.

Brand doesn't really matter, as long s they work reliably over an extended period.
Some research (here and google) will reveal the better brands.
HD would be appropriate as the resolution is good enough to read licence plates.4 would be good, front, rear and both sides.
And a giant sign "DASHCAM PROTECTED" (in Thai of course)
Footnote:We have 2 in the car and one attached to the side of both our motorcycle helmets, it's amazing how, when we approach a police road block, as soon as they see them, we always get waved through....!

Put your notes loose in a loose weave muslin bag and hang it on the clothes line.
The dry, the heat and the UV from the sun that penetrates the muslin should deal with any nasty germs within hours.
Return cash to wallet.Take the bag (empty) with you when you go shopping, pay for your goods with cash from your wallet, then get the cashier to put the change in the bag.
Thus you never have to touch unclean cash, and when you get back home, hang it on the line again.

A few years ago we took the night express from CM to BKK rather than train 52 as we could have an A/C twin share cabin (first class sleeper), got as far as Lamphun and it died, generator unit on one (2nd class) carriage overheated, they started to spray water on it to cool it, now that was smart, spraying water onto an electrical unit.?
Stuck there for an hour, then train 52 overtook us, more procrastinating, another hour passed, eventually they dumped the carriage, squashed all the people into the remaining carriages and we got going again.
Arrived in BKK 3 hours late.
So I don't know if you would want to rely on it.
The first class express sleepers are new trains but the other trains are still the old ones.!

Solution..! Dashcam, front and rear, front one with back lens showing inside of car too, as we have, point to it and they wave you on.!

I have answered similar questions regarding earthing previously, this is no different.
Effective earthing is essential for safety.
From the basement to the attic and every floor inbetween must have earth wiring connected directly to the earth spike.
And for an earth spike (rod) to be effective it must be made of solid copper or copper plated steel, and it must be driven into a part of the ground that remains wet all year round, the leach drains/septic tanks are good locations.
An earth spike in dry clay/sand is as effective as having no earth wire at all.!
Thai electricians are notoriously lax when it comes to earthing.
Insist on effective earthing and earth leakage circuit breakers (residual current safety switches) for your and everyone elses' safety...!

Best camera is a camera.
Best phone is a phone.
A phone is not a camera and a camera is not a phone.!
You can't squeeze any decent optics into a phone, too thin, but you could squeeze a phone into a camera, not sure if anyone would want it though.!

You've pretty well answered your own question, " I thought the headlights were defective until realizing that it's the excessively dark tint "
It's illegal here in Australia to tint the windscreen, for obvious reasons, it's just so dangerous limiting your night vision, it should be ilegal in Thailand too.
Side and back windows are perhaps less important.
Because of the sloping windscreens 100mm or so at the top could be tinted, as a sun shade.
If you think it makes the car cooler, think again, there would be less than 1c difference between two identical cars, one with one without.
It's the colour of the car that makes a difference, if you can, go sit in a black car then swap to a white car, the black one can be 10c or more hotter.
I think most Thais who tint do so for either fashion or to be unseen, or both.!

Yes, voltage drop is the problem.
Replacing the 80m run of cable to you with 150amp rated cable would be a good start, but expensive.
And replace them with copper not aluminium as copper has less voltage drop.
There's not much else you can do other than restrict the flow of water through the heater so what does flow through has more chance of heating up.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode 'Monorail' and it will probably end up the same way.

Did the same thing myself in 2017, 31 instead of 30 days.
Had to sign a form, got a stamp in passport but no fine.
Most probably got entered in their computer database.
Re-entered the kingdom 11 months later, not even a sideways look from the I O.

Scooters undercutting on u turns
in Thailand Motor Discussion

Get as close as you can to the RHS curb so they can't cut in.
Get a dash cam, front and rear, so if you are in the right there's no dispute.
And certainly don't show your face anywhere near the cop shop, as soon as you do up goes the price.!
