Are you sure it wasn't about 37.2234423422133%? LOL.

When people are engaged in conversation, most are thoughtful, respectful, sometimes even open minded, but obviously, not everyone...!   ....(LOL).....

    And thus ends this conversation....!

I prefer to apply something on top of the roof

I'm not sure if a sound deadening compound applied to the top of the roof will work so well.

1: is it UV proof, will it decompose quickly in the sunlight.

2: if it's a dark colour it will increase the heat absorbency of the roof, thus increasing inside temperatures.

There are spray on rubberised asphaltic compounds used in the auto industry for sound deadening inside car doors and underneath floors, these are very effective and long lasting.

Sprayed onto the underside of the roof tin would be ideal, but the fumes may be a problem when applying it.

Spray cans of this product would be available from an auto shop but for large areas like a roof it would be an inefficient way to do it.

Not sure where you could obtain large quantities.

Spray foam would be another alternative, but again from underneath, and again fumes may be an issue, as well as adhesion.

Right. So quoting 37% efficacy was not pulling something out of your <deleted> then?

Again you may like to read it properly 'Sinovac is at about 37% effective' quite clearly indicating it is not an accurate number, and that's the whole point about sinovac, there are no accurate numbers, different studies show wildly differing results...!

And the obvious deletion of your expletives from your comments goes to the validity of them..!

I think you invented those numbers by pulling them out of your <deleted>.

Perhaps you may like to check reliable studies and results from sources like Mayo clinic, Yale and Biospace.

All show A Z, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Novavax having higher efficacy rates than the Chinese, Russian and Indian vaccines, and of those, none are peer reviewed...!

Infact sinovac efficacy rates are shown as fluctuating wildly depending on the study group, thus suggesting inaccuracy.!

The ceiling fan is bolted to a metal beam.

Which is probably bolted to framework supporting (and connected to) a metal roof, or as the lightning caused static charge in the air would see it, a giant antenna.

The lightning strikes within the local area could charge up the roof/house frame to many thousands of volts.

Sensitive electronic equipment like remotes (senders and receivers) usually only run on 3 volts or 1.5 volts.

With a charge of many thousand volt within close proximity to sensitive circuitry there's always the risk of if being fried.! With cheap Chinese electronic circuitry, double the risk.

Nb: When electrical storms are in the area remove the TV antenna from the wide screen TV as the antennas also attracts this static charge and can fry them too.!

    Can anyone please explain

None of the vaccines prevent you from getting COVID-19, they just prepare (educate) your immune system which then reduces the severity and time of the infection.

You can still be infected and in the time between infection and your immune system fighting it off you are contagious, and can spread it to others.!

Thus the quarantine, although 10 days is probably all that is needed..!

My advice would be to look at Thai Smile to get to Bangkok.

Good advice, Thai or Thai smile. (same-same)
Thai vietjet and NOK are also flying but NOK goes to Don Meuang.

Definitely do not book AirAsia, guaranteed the flight will be cancelled and they are so close to going bust there is no way you will get your money back, only vouchers and if they do go bust, vouchers will be worthless.!

That's interesting. When you say 'the big one', are you referring to a battery? That's trying to charge another battery?

In light (no pun intended) of the extra information provided about the large lamps functionality (with or without the remote) the fact that you can get it to stay on at night suggests that the battery is OK and charging during the day.
Perhaps the issue is in the electronics, or possibly more likely it is programmed, and it has a glitch.

Yes you could reasonably expect it to come on automatically at night.

Whilst I don't know how many control functions or buttons are available on the remote you could try pressing and holding the on button for several seconds, sometimes this access any program mode it may have, then up and down buttons would scroll through the programs.

There could also be a factory reset option too, possibly accessed from the same holding of the on button for an extended period.

As you say there are no manuals it's a bit of a guessing game.

Should you get the time, why not google images LED garden light, or what ever it's called, without the brand name, look at the pictures, if you can identify your lamp and it is known by a different name search for manuals for that brand, likelihood it will be the same.

All of us are good at one thing, sometimes more than one, but not good at everything.!

    Cest la vie...!

    and there are NO batteries

There are batteries (as many have already said), just not obviously seen.

The big one is trying to charge a dud (dead) battery, thus the green/red LEDs during the day. But if the battery is a dud and no charge goes in during the day then no charge will be available at night.

There's usually a fix it shop in most villages, just take it there and ask if they can put a new battery in.

I just don’t get the mentality of someone who leaves litter and never will.

Growing up in Australia as a baby boomer we had the 'Don't litter Australia' campaigns (clean up Australia grew out of that) and it was mostly successful.

Now, when we see someone throwing rubbish on the ground it sticks out, it looks obvious, someone will usually say, 'pick up your rubbish', even 'don't be a pig' or anything to suggest they clean up their own rubbish.

This is helped by the proliferation of rubbish bins, certainly they are not everywhere but usually you only have to look around where you are to find one, with the exception of a long way from anywhere places like isolated national parks.

The two go hand in hand, there's no point in having a national anti littering campaign without having anywhere to put the rubbish.

Public rubbish bins are not so common in Thailand and often when you do see them they are overflowing.

When the Thais get their rubbish collection services better organised, then perhaps a public awareness campaign could be started.

This vaccine only prevents severe symptoms. It does not stop the spread of the disease.

    Correct.!

None of the vaccines prevent infection, they all just reduce the symptoms and shorten the duration of the infection by boosting (or preparing) your immune system.

The western vaccines seem to be better at doing this:

    Pfizer 95%
    Moderna 95%

    Astra Zenneca 87%

    Johnson & Johnson 67%

Sinovac 37% to 62% depending on the clinical trial (dubious)

Sputnik 97% claimed, but also dubious as only trialled on small Russian base, and no tests on variants.

As Seychelles uses Sinovac it could go a long way in explaining the surge in cases.

Something for Thais to look forward to.!

Coffee seems to be as good with dolce gusto, just less choice

Swiss gold cup filter has many advantages over machines, way cheaper for a start, unlimited choice of coffee grinds to use, complete control over strength, requires no electricity, doesn't break down and can be used for mugs too.!

    Might be worth looking into.!
