  1. Change the strip lads. QPR used to play in green hoops but changed colour ( admittedly to blue which may be difficult for you ) when a run of poor results showed the green to be unlucky !!

  2. Yep

Pompey V Newcastle first " league " game under lights, albeit Oxford ( Headington ) had been asking for years. Utd poor cousins to City when they first went into Europe, no lights !!!

PS The fuse blew in the Pompey game .............

  3. This could run for a while so I'll tell all and ask an easier one.

    Answer: Chester City.

Reason: The border with Wales ran through the middle of the ground and the old rule of thumb was that if the Directors sat in Wales they would have to join the Welsh league !!

( All boxes originally faced east so the sun was not in the gaffer's eyes as it went down in the west )

    Simple one:

Headington ( later Oxford UTD ) were turned down permission in 1953 for something that Portsmouth ( v Newcastle ) were allowed to do in 1957. What was it ?

  4. Mighty Mick is in a different position than when his Sunderland side were so awful. His chaiman now, Mr Morgan, albeit a converted scouser will give him the support and the dosh he needs to at least let Wolves compete. Key to them staying up is who will come on loan as the squad is skillful but far too inexperienced.

Burnley in the same boat, but will surprise a few. Hull were well and truely worked out by the end of the season and will need to change their game plan else they are in deep doggy poo.

Portsmouth, sadly as I like a working man's club, are in trouble. They pay crap high wages generated when they had " stars" which have now left. Slippery slope I'm afraid.

Stoke's home support was as much responsible as Delap's arm for their success and that support aint going anywhere, they will survive.

Wigan and Bolton. No great support to be honest but sides with good buys in the closed season, but nothing to get the old juices going, one of the two will find their new "stars" not gelling and will struggle.

Hard to pick this seasons " Newcastle ". But i'l upset a few by saying Everton if they sell Lescott will struggle at the back..........who knows if their strike force which seems prone to injury will be able to score enough at the other end.

    Sorry forgot Brum...............Rubbish.

  5. A good friend of mine's wife did not enjoy here stay with us recently as she has an irrational fear of snakes.

Our house is in-country but hardly in the wild. A gentle stroll on pathed roads to the pub by the lake had her in terror so I was told on their return to the UK.

Now TV has many thousands of members. So the simple question is how many out there have actually faced an aggressive snake and been bitten. I have seen many in 23 years in the East, but try as I might I could not convince this woman that I have never been in a position where you could honestly say I was in any real danger from one.

    How about you guys?

  6. It can be all things to all people and that sadly is why this thread will close as well.

With so many different things to see and do it is a great place to live when you learn where the things that may offend you lurk and how easy it is to avoid them. However, it is a very emotive place who's sheer diversity sends the narrow minded into spasms of anger, as in the main they can not be bothered to push aside the obvious and see what really goes on beneath the surface. I have always had a sneaking suspicion that the most vocal of it's detractors have some very nasty character traits which they would like to indulge in, but have either never had the bottle to try, or tried it in spades and have lived with the guilt ever since.

Pattaya IS NOT all about sin. It has fantastic facilities, great restaurants ( see the thread and marvel at the range available in such a small area ) and some of the best sporting facilities in Asia. It does not have a working municipal government and take on the locals or the police who are supposed to deal without fear or favour at your peril. It is a place filled with such a rainbow of characters, it is always quite sickening when as always ( and it will happen in this thread ) you get the you only live there because you are a dirty old man crew, ranting on with little knowledge or inclination to try to see what is really going on.

The reality is in my humble cliched opinion, that yes the majority of long term residents at one time put their toe into the water ( and let's be honest, why wouldn't you ) and some still do on a regular basis; however there are a great number and certainly on the " Dark Side " who have got passed that to a great extent and enjoy a life style which is truly fantastic as long as you show respect to all regardless of creed or colour and smile your life away thinking of the poor suckers freezing their nuts of back home whilst you tee up another ball ( mulligan ), as you lost the last one distracted by laughing with, not at, your charming caddie.

  7. Ta

Always has been a bit strange that with the number of Western " oldies ' in town a back strangler has not set up shop and done well. What with all the golf and other pastimes which can strain your back ( no comment ) no brainer for a successful business I would have thought.

  8. I know this has been asked before, but with the transient nature of the town, one may have slipped in under the radar.

Does anyone know of a good chiropractor in town ? Twisted the d-amn back and would like it tweaked by an expert if possible ( wife's always on my back, but that doesn't fix anything, not even her temper )
