I'm sorry, but....:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy: do they really think anyone will 'put a label or sign on bags containing hazardous waste'?

From what I've seen, if they're lucky used face masks will be dumped loose in the nearest rubbish bin.

Do you really think the Thai will dump their facemask after use? Have you seen the queue's to get 4 masks in the Makro? 100 meters long, all days long.....????

You're absolutely right about travellers from infected countries.

So why did the government allow 'Chinese travellers' into Thailand, ignoring the risks when it was known what was happening many weeks ago?

In case you haven't noticed, Thai are slow learners, very slow.....in fact they hate education in general....and even more they don't like rules/laws....

And yet they are only able to provide 300 packs of four for sale. At the same time that more places are following suit in insisting on customers wear one, it is becoming much harder to find anywhere that has any at all, and the prices are heading steadily upward despite the government assuring us price gouging would not be allowed under any circumstance.

As we were told some weeks back, if people who are not sick use masks, there will not be enough when large numbers of people actually get sick, which is just coming home to roost here.

I only know of one place which insists on wearing a mask who actually have them available for sale, though I suspect they will sell out shortly too.

Using an old mask is going to be more unhealthy than not wearing one, so I foresee this issue getting messy in weeks to come. Pray they contain it here soon, so things can start to get back to normal.

If you and the other mod's allowed us to post links here where to buy them for a good price it would be much easyier for everyone to buy real N95 masks online.

Sorry but you only have to watch the videos of how badly it's affecting Italy to realize quite how bad things might get if people do not isolate or keep a safe distance.

I agree, but hey the thai do not care....same with road safety or any other safety.....they-do-not-care....

I also saw many shops open today which don't sell food or so.

here we go again - blame those pesky foreigners while the whole thing started in China and Thailand allowed them to enter unabated for weeks - and my current understanding is they still can - but don't allow Thais to enter - your own citizens - how ** up is that

It seems that you don't get it at all mate!

They are right to be very carefull with these travellers from highly infected countries.

Well at first it seemed the hot weather was stopping the virus, but it spreaded in singapore so that should have ringed some bells..

Why? Singapore is half the size of Bangkok with a different lifestyle to the rest of Asia.

It should have spread in Bangkok weeks ago if we analyse the situation with the information we have? ????

Because singapore is just as hot as BKK, maybe 3 degree's colder.

If you're outside and there's a wind blowing  you will be perfectly fine. The virus is not in the air, that's why for self-protection it's so pointless to wear a mask. The far greater risk is that you touch something where the virus sits and then touch your face.

So the virus can fly through air (like in a skytrain) but outside it can't fly? And if the wind is directed from a infected person my way it can't travel any further than the 1.5 or 2 meters? Als that difference in distant worries me, why can't they be exact ?

Dr Shunmay Yeung from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine explains why masks don't work:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/av/health-51881555/coronavirus-do-face-masks-actually-work

This is the problem we are facing.  People do not want to accept advice from people who know their subject and know what they are talking about

In every country they give another advice.....which is very weird....so far S-Korea stopped the virus from spreading the best and they ALL wear facemasks...

Swimming in your toilet, is probably cleaner! I would not swim in the dead sea, sewage is being pumped into it daily!!

The virus is also in poop, don't touch or come near any dirty drain water...i wouldn't go in the sea in pattaya...it's the toilet from BKK...

I only go out to 7-11. Be nice if they stocked face masks on a display as you entered. Maybe they can't find any to buy.

Yesterday we got a new 711 here in our village, late at night....the staff and driver were all sitting very close together and drinking beer after they unloaded the truck...so be carefull with the staff in a 711 as well...they didn't wear masks.

if you're coughing and sneezing a mask can help, but so can a tissue or your own hand

i've just returned to the uk and the public health advice makes no mention of mask wearing; washing hands for 20 seconds and social distancing is the way ahead.

far too much emphasis is put on mask wearing, i had to wear one at the airport and i could feel the air coming in around the edges of the mask, so unless a mask is air tight it's pretty much a waste of time anyway. and mask wearing potentially gives wearers a false sense of security and stop them practicing more effective forms of protection

I have real masks from 3M with an outlet valve and i feel the valve moving....and when i inhale the mask gets sucked inside a bit from the vacuum....that's why you need good masks, not those silly things the thai buy 4 for 10 baht.
