  1. "allot"? Seems you still have much to learn about English. If you really believe she made all that money from tips alone, you are exactly the type of gullible tourist they are after. You will be easily manipulated. She is "obviously" a "good girl". You should send her money to prevent her from having to resort to prostitution...
  2. Strange... If this article was posted by someone other than "webfact" it would be seen as a troll post (fake story posted simply to get a reaction from viewers). None of the "facts" add up. Anyone who has spent any time in Thailand knows it's nonsense.
  3. Why the racial undertones in the article? What a bunch of nonsense... Underlying message is "you white foreigners just don't understand the food because you are white... (except Anthony Bourdain, who is so cool he managed to rise above his whiteness)" Obviously written by some WOKE "journalist" who is too blind to see their own racism. Do black or brown foreigners enjoy Filipino food? What does race have to do with enjoying or not enjoying Filipino food? Absolutely nothing. Consequently, it's inappropriate to bring race up in the article. More low quality "news" articles provided for our "enjoyment'... Thanks, ASEAN NOW...
  4. Follow up... Once again, informal networks work best... I received my booster shot today. A friend of a friend of a friend knew someone who didn't need the Moderna shot they had purchased in advance back in July. My friend showed up at my apartment with the completed hospital transfer form to sign and off I went to Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin. All and all it took about 24 hours once I let my friend know what I wanted. Sorry, this information doesn't really help anyone trying to duplicate what I did, other than to emphasize the importance of informal networks. I was able to find a couple of sites on Facebook where Thais are selling their unneeded Moderna vaccine appointments. Most of these are being sold in Bangkok, I believe. Buying one of these is faster (appointments are sooner) and possibly cheaper (depending on your negotiation skills) than if you were to purchase it yourself on Shoppee for 1,650 Baht. Unfortunately, I do not have any personal experience about using the Facebook group to share. Copy and paste one of these two Thai texts into the search bar of Facebook to go to the Moderna reseller groups: ซือ-ชายสิทธิ้จองวัคฑืน โคาิด-19 โมเดอร์นา or กลุ่มผู้ซื้อวัคซีนโมเดอร์น่า Good Luck
  5. FYI: ASEAN Now provides the option of "ignoring" users who consistently post content that serves no purpose other than entertaining themselves (and only themselves).
  6. Good idea. I will do that later tonight... Thanks!
  7. Is there another app from a local health service provider that might assist in getting a booster shot? Could you post a link to the app at the Google Play store? Thank you!
  8. So I went to BluPort this afternoon with my vaccination documentation. It was VERY busy with Thai patients getting one of their first two doses. My first objective was to get a 13 digit code to create a MorProm account. I questioned a nurse, who referred me to an older gentleman who was standing around surveying the whole operation. He asked me what initial vaccinations I received. (He correctly assumed my ultimate goal was to get a booster shot) I told him both Pfizer. He said booster shots are not being provided to people who have two Pfizer vaccinations as their initial vaccination. I then told him I wanted to at least get registered in the MorProm system so that I could prove my vaccination status with the app. The English-only vaccination card, that was my only proof of vaccination, is not always accepted as proof of vaccination when trying to enter public events (like the recent Pattaya Music Festival, according to other threads at this site). I also wanted to be prepared in case the booster requirements changed. The gentleman referred me to the registration desk in the parking garage. I asked around there and eventually was referred to a young woman who spoke English very well. I'm confident she understood what I was asking for. She took my passport and vaccination card and spoke to three other individuals at registration. She came back and said the Thai government Ministry of Health has not coordinated vaccination validation with the US CDC. Until it does so, they would not be able to issue a 13 digit vaccination ID for Thailand based on written documentation alone. She also said Thailand is attempting to coordinate with the European Union. Those with proof of vaccination in the EU might be able to get a 13 digit vaccination ID in the future. So, I came away empty handed... I will still keep surveying the local booster situation, hoping for a change or loophole to open up soon. I hate Facebook, but guess I will join to get access to local "Vaccination Groups" and hospital pages. If anyone has any other advice on how to proceed, I'm all ears... Thank you.
  9. The app I was referring to is MorProm. It matches the Google Play link provided by MJCM. It is the app the local vaccination team told me to download and to register on.
  10. Thank you for the clarification of the app name and the nature of the 13 digit number. Unfortunately, I do not have a house book or a pink ID card. In the app version I have, the only option I see to "Create Account" is to enter a 13 digit number and a phone number. No possibility of registering with a house book or pink ID (not relevant for me anyway, but interesting that you are seeing something different). Maybe I'm overlooking something? The app is primarily in Thai... I was not vaccinated in Thailand. I will take my vaccination documentation to Bluport today and try to find someone who knows how to get my documentation "translated" into a 13 digit Thai vaccination ID number. Once I get the 13 digit number, I'll follow up with the staff on getting registered for the booster. I'll report back on what degree of success I had, if any... At the very least, I hope to get my first two doses "validated" and entered into the MorProm app so that I can prove to any interested authority figure that I at least have those...
  11. Anyone in Hua Hin have any success getting a booster shot recently? Or better yet, can anyone tell me how to get a booster shot now? Things are changing so quickly, what worked two weeks ago might not work today. A Thai person helped me register for the Moderna booster at Hua Hin Hospital webpage yesterday. Yesterday, later in the day, she said I had to reregister today. Attempted to reregister today and got a message from the webpage that the Moderna shots offered are only for those needing the first two doses. Then she tells me they will call me when my booster is available. How will they call me if my earlier registration was not valid? She hasn't answered that question. I went to the Bluport vaccination center yesterday. They were not giving vaccinations, but the front desk was staffed. They told me boosters will be offered on December 23rd. I was told to register on a green app I was told to download (don't know the name of the app, it's in Thai. It's primarily dark green and has a yellow stethoscope in the logo, if they helps someone identify it). To register on the app, you have to enter a 13 digit ID number. I only have a 9 digit passport number to offer. The ladies at the desk didn't know how to register with a passport or if it is even possible. (In a Bangkok forum post I saw mention of a person who said they were given a 13 digit registration number based on a passport number at their Bangkok vaccination center). Yesterday I also went to Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin for booster shot information. I was told to register at the "expatvac" webpage. I went to that webpage and registration is only for first doses and only to non-immigrant visa holders, diplomat staff, and Thai Elite visa holders. Any current information on booster availability and the process to get one in Hua Hin would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...
  12. By the way... I noticed the SkyNet Sports webpage/homepage link on the Facebook page. I'm unable to connect to it. That is rarely a problem for me. I assumed, possibly wrongly, that the problem is with the SkyNet Sports site, not me. If other people are able to connect to the site, please let me know. Surely the information I'm looking for is there. If so, I guess I would have to experiment with my browser settings (probably make them less secure or private).
  13. I'm asking this a little late, but maybe I'll get lucky with a response... I only have SkyNet Sports 1-3 and HD on my cable television at home. I would like to watch a rebroadcast of the Chelsea/Leeds match. I see on the SkyNet Sports Facebook page that the live game is scheduled to be broadcast at 2130 this Saturday evening. I would like to catch a rebroadcast on Sunday or Monday. I can't find a SkyNet Sports television schedule anywhere. Has anyone found a reliable source for a SkyNet Sports programming schedule? I'm cheap (prefer "thrifty"). I do not want to pay to see it online, if it will be on cable television for free. Also, I'll be hosting a guest that prefers TV over my tiny laptop. I'm in Hua Hin, by the way... In case that is relevant for television programming. I have no idea who my cable television provider is (I rent an apartment with free cable TV, do not have an individual cable television contract). It would be great if I figured this out in time to catch the rebroadcast, but would be happy for an answer anytime so that I can plan our viewing in the coming weeks. Thanks in advance...
  14. Strange... My recent experience was quite different. I am also here on a visa exemption and have already received my "usual" 30 day extension. I went to immigration (Hua Hin) well in advance of needing the COVID extension. I went with the COVID affidavit filled out. I wanted to make sure I completed it correctly. They told me I didn't need it. Instead, they gave me the attached form and told me to bring the documents back this week, which I did on Wednesday. Title of document "LIST OF COVID-19 VISA (Document) 60 days" Application TM7 One photograph Copy of passport Letter from embassy for confirmation and request for a temporary stay in Thailand by COVID 19 situation (in my case I received an email from the embassy's consular services) 1900 Baht fee Proof of address (since I rent), copy of the rental agreement, copy of landlord's ID, copy of blue book for apartment I'm renting, copy of blue book for landlord's home. They stamped my passport and told me to come back in 15 days for final determination if I would receive the COVID extension. I'm beginning to wonder if I somehow applied for the wrong extension? The immigration officer I was dealing with on both occasions spoke English very well. I was confident I was being understood and that I understood his directions. I had the same officer for both trips to immigration. The fact that I initially came with a completed COVID 19 extension affidavit, made me confident he understood what I was after. Now I'm beginning to wonder if there's something amiss... My initial 30 day extension expires on December 12. I will find out if I'm granted the COVID extension on December 9th. That's cutting it close...
  15. I would have a problem if the bank told me the money "vanished". Double entry bookkeeping. Every credit has an offsetting debit. That is where your money went. The personnel at the bank branch might not be able to research this, but the funds can be found and should be found. Not because the the 30 baht is a big deal, but because the combined withdrawals of multiple victims accounts (I assume many people were impacted by this) are a big deal. They should have quickly fixed this after you brought it to their attention the first time. The bank probably doesn't want to give you a straight answer because it is too worried about the negative PR potentially created by the incident, should it go public. Saving face...
  16. "In the span of 8 years, the number of HIV cases in the Philippines has increased 203%" "HIV is transitioning to the heterosexual community" The Catholic Philippines will not educate their public fast enough to stop this trend. Wake up, Sexpats...
  17. Wow! Finally! Here's an informative YouTube video not created by some low budget expat posting random videos hoping to supplement his meager retirement check. Concerning the video, I'm not impressed with the Philippine Tourism Secretary. She's just spouting off numbers with a vague idea of how to go forward. It's obvious they have no real plan. They will just sit back and wait until all their neighbors open up, then they will follow suit. Interesting that they put so much emphasis on domestic "tourism". They should just be calling it domestic "travel". I think they are trying to take the pressure of themselves. "Tourism is up!" they can proclaim because someone books a flight from Manila to Davao, when in actuality, the trip's purpose isn't tourism at all. Just someone going home because they lost their job in Manila...
  18. I don't think the fact that the persons I would be exposed to are residents of another country is relevant. If that were the case, people would need to take a new PCR test when they are at a long layover in a transit airport. Imagine how many people from how many different countries they are exposed to in that scenario. A plane is filled with passengers of both types, initial departure passengers and in-transit passengers. In-transit passengers will check in with PCR tests done in countries other than the departure country. Unless it specifically states in the ticket's fine print that the PCR test has to be from the country of departure, I'm not worrying about it. I think the "transit scenario" makes in impossible for airlines to enforce the requirement you describe.
  19. 1. Are you sure that you have to be a citizen or resident? That was not the case under COE. I was a tourist in Germany and applied for the COE at a German consulate. 2. Things may change rapidly, but they are trending toward opening. I am more optimistic every month. 3. Why would it matter what country the predeparture PCR test was conducted? It's your body no matter what country you are in. When I flew into Thailand in September, no one really looked at the paperwork (Insurance, PCR test, or ticket out of Thailand) that I handed them, at the initial departure (Frankfurt) or at the transit (Doha) check in. They are just going through the motions. If the documentation is in English , it will not stand out as being from Thailand. I seriously doubt they will take the time to check each passenger's paperwork for location of PCR test.
  20. Couldn't someone apply for the Thailand Pass from within Thailand, fly to a green listed country with short or no quarantine requirements (e.g. Nepal, Sri Lanka) and the next day reenter Thailand with visa exempt? You seem to be saying the Thailand Pass would have to be applied for from outside Thailand. The COVID insurance should be valid for both countries. If you time it right, the PCR test you take to fly out of Thailand will still be valid to reenter Thailand. What am I missing?
  21. There is absolutely NOTHING German about that breakfast. I don't care if the "resort" is run by some guy named Fritz. I wouldn't feed that <deleted> to my dog. Is that supposed to be a sausage? Jesus Christ, that's disgusting...
  22. Philly in the Philippines is one of the crappiest YouTubers in the Philippines. He is KING of the click bait title. In this video he takes 14 minutes to tell us he thinks the prices will go up. He gives no real justification for his uneducated guess other than the bar owners need money. No duh... Complete waste of time. I've said it before, I'll say it again... Posting crappy YouTube videos decreases the credibility of this forum. Someone needs to screen these videos better. I suspect they aren't being watched before they are posted. They are being posted based on the title of the video alone. This increases the likelihood that we will be served a bunch of click bait. Gee thanks...
