  1. Good find...so nothing to do with Thailand. On the other hand, more disgusting then we even knew.
  2. Thanks. I now understand the garage movable gate would be considered as part of 'the building' in terms of the boundary.
  3. 1) I will be building a house on Samui next year and I have a perimeter wall around the property (set about 250mm inside property line). The property has a small government unpaved road on two sides that leads to three other houses, no sidewalks. I was originally planning to have a garage gate, (or roll up door) positioned between the opening in the perimeter wall but was told that any such garage door would need to be set back 2M from the road (despite the wall being only 250mm from the road. Although I'm told this would unlikely be enforced I want to be in compliance if indeed the garage door must be set back 2M. Anyone know the rule for this and where I can find it? I have found information on walls and roof distances from neighbors but nothing specifically call out garage doors. 2) Are large bags of different types of grass seed not a thing in Thailand? Have not come across them in my travels. Any sources for it on the island? Cheers.
  4. Indeed. IF bailed, the government should then be held accountable (lol) to explain this discrepancy in the application of Thai bail law.
  5. That is almost right...but I suspect it was not the news agencies he was waiting but rather others that might be willing to pay to suppress it. He only cries for the lost millions of baht.
  6. Likely being well fed on the same teat. I think we all had suspicions about corruption but the amounts are way beyond "tea money" for the higher-ups. Makes you wonder about the drug seizures and the profit potential there.
  7. We can guess that something similar happened in Koh Tao....and MANY other cases across the country, for money or "confessions."
  8. Yes they did. Any idea what percentage of those 000's had family, gf/bf to visit, homes or businesses here? I have never seen a stat on that. Would you pick now to visit Thailand?
  9. I agree that the issue is not with incoming vaxxed tourists. However, if locally, infections/deaths remain high and businesses remain closed (or the threat of closures remains high), then why would anyone plan a vacation in Thailand. Sure, some number are happy to hang out at the beach all day (lots of beaches in the world) but for the tourists that want to enjoy nightlife, travel freely around the country, go out for nice dinners and drinks, well those options may be very limited. Unless you have other reasons to visit, would you really pick Thailand as your vacation spot now?
  10. Yes, initial reports were that he was "aroused" by her and either attempted, or did, rape her. Was she half-naked or not? The authorities need to address this inconsistency or the questions will remain despite their apparent attempts now to quietly ignore this inconsistency.
  11. I will be building a house later this year (maybe early 2022) in the southern part of Samui. I already have the land, the house concept (architectural drawings will be done in about a month). I have several builders that I have met and I know the one I want to use for the pool/terrace part of the project. That is just additional background. I'm sure some of you have built houses on Samui and what I am interested in learning more about is suppliers that you have used (on or off island) for things like patio doors (I will need 6), windows (several types), furniture, floor and wall tiles, kitchens, roofing, bathroom fixtures, and lighting. I will be getting several quotes for the construction itself but likely I will purchase many of the finishing materials myself. I'm doing my own research but if you have any sources to suggest for any of the items above I would be grateful in learning about them. Importantly, my goal is mid-range quality/cost for most finishing materials and saving money where I can.
